Great entry James! That's great to hear Iron Maiden and Pantera were your first purchases. Good luck with Dave's contest!

Good to hear about your first albums James. Quite a variety of styles as well to keep it interesting. Fear of the dark is one of my fav Maiden albums although I think the sum is greater than its parts. The Police are a good band, was listening to them the other day actually for the first time in ages, a bit of a palette cleanser.

Unfortunately mate that Maiden tape and the Pantera album were recent pick ups as I had to buy both again as the Cowboys From Hell disappeared somewhere and I got rid of all my old tapes like an idiot. Cheers my friend

Those Iron Maiden & Pantera records are absolute classics 🤘

Interesting stuff James. Cowboys from Hell is my favourite Pantera album, the others after are excellent too mind. Fear of the Dark has a couple of good tracks for me, the title track I still like and Be Quick or Be Dead is excellent pretty average after that. This was Maiden going downhill for me which started with No Prayer for the Dying.
My first purchase was So Far So Good So What by Megadeth in 1989 on tape. Still love it.

Fear of The Dark is a hit and miss album. I prefer No Prayer For The Dying. Cowboys From Hell is an excellent album. I got So Far So Good So What on tape back in 1988, good times. Cheers Paul

I'm with you on "The Apparition", but for some reason, I've always liked "Childhood's End". On the other hand, I think "Werkend Warrior" is garbage. Love 'Cowboys From Hell' myself. Excellent response!

@@mrboulder9714 Yeah, I think 'Fear of the Dark' was the first Maiden album that left me a bit disappointed. There are some bangers on it though, and I really like some of those deep cuts too.

interesting pick up is that the same album or you sold your original and later on purchased again on Cassette?
my first album I ever bought with my own money was Judas Priest - Turbo got it in 1991 on cd
I still listen to Turbo on my walkman over the summer in June or July?
    questions
I will assume you still listen to it !!
    1. do you have Alice in Chains - Dirt?
    2. back in the 80's and 90's did you have pre recorded cassettes?
    3. did you record any songs from this album and put it on a mix tape? Iron Maiden.

      @mrboulder9714  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. I have only Master of puppets from 1986 and Turbo.
2.. I never had any pre recorded tapes for the most part after a while I ended up getting a few Hendrix cassette tapes.
      3. I never recorded any tracks from Turbo over to a mix tape no.

The very first album I bought with my own money was the Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks. Early Dec. '77. I was 13 (14 at xmas) I had been saving up my paper round money, I went to buy it on Saturday afternoon after i had finished my paper round and got paid. I picked it up and gave it to the woman who ran the village record shop, she looked at me and said, have you heard this? i said no, just the singles (i bought them from her shop), just a minute she said, she went to the back of the shop and asked her husband, i could hear them talking, she came back and said, don't play bodies if Vin and Sonia are in the room when you play it when you get home. (she knew my mum and dad).... I still have that copy and i still love that album, it has never been out of my top 10.
