This is the first version I ever listened to of Fear Of The Dark. I remember seeing this video on Headbanger's Ball back when it first came out and loved it big time. I was a teenager at 14 years old and Iron Maiden had already been my all time favorite band for over five years. I had recorded this video on a VHS tape and I would listen to it over and over. All these years later it is still my favorite version of Fear Of The Dark. My older sister still remembers this song because of how many times I used to play it back when we were both teenagers.
Same for me, staying up late for headbanger ball. As a teenager this was it, and it still is. The crowed singing allong still gives me goosebumps.

I am thankful for the security men who pulled me out of this crowd to safety. I had glandular fever and had been standing in the mosh pit for 10 hours by the time this song was played. I was crowd-surfed to safety and walked right in front of the band (but didn't look up). Cracking song, strange memories of that day!

This was my first introduction to heavy metal. My 15 y/o cousin would listen to this song all the time, and when I got to live with my aunt at age 8 I fell in love with this song. Soon I started to listen to more hard rock and heavy metal, and now I'm almost 30 and I have seen hundreds of metal bands live. All thanks to this song 😁

I was looking for this exact video for like 10 years or so. Finally found it. I remember when I first opened the Rock Heaven door: I was in my 5th grade and I received a CD compilation made by a friend with Rock music like Metallica, Iron Maiden, ACDC, The Cranberries, Queen. I remember the first time that I viewed this video....and when I heard the crowd chanting like one single voice...it made me cry...and it makes me cry even now....I don't now why exactly.. I guess...it's just the fact that it is so beautiful that a crowd can become one voice...and the connection between the band and the crowd...the mysterious guitar line of the song from the intro and outro, the video...just perfect :D. From that day on...my life changed and the taste for good music :D

yeah it is indeed amazing in this song, I got that feeling too with a lot of Metallica songs, I've seen them live twice and it gave me goosebumps as well to just hear the crowd sing along with James and co, I hope I can still see them a few more times, since they are after more then 30 years still one of the best live bands in existance and, I am glad for that, almost 20 years ago started my love for Metallica in the womb of my mother… they went to a concert from Metallica while they were expecting me and I guess that was the moment I unlocked a special place for Metallica in my heart, it's just amazing to see them and other bands getting the crowd to sing along with them

If you are a fan of Iron Maiden, of all their songs to hear, Hallowed Be Thy Name and Fear of the Dark absolutely must be included in the set. It should be a crime not to give those two a listen at least once before you die. And you cannot have one without the other. Specifically, Fear of the Dark is one of the best live metal videos you will ever see in your life, I promise you!

Oh my...it was my first track and first video that i had listen of Maiden. It was 1994... And all of time after i have been listening Maiden.
My dad sent me this video, and said "that is how it was back in my day, when I was your age". He grew up in Soviet Lithuania, and was in the spetsnaz, eventually moving to Britain. He got married next door to where iron maiden formed.

Honestly, the unconducted chorus of thousands added a chilling, otherworldly, ethereal quality to this song that I don't think even Maiden themselves could have ever composed.
My life changed after this song.
Not everything in my life was always better, but it was more substantial, a deeper level of appreciation for music, love, life itself.

My father recorded this video approximately 30 years ago on VHS. Back in this days there was a miserable (0) amount of video clips on russian TV when a 7 years old kid like me could see them. Still, closer to midnight there were some shows with western music and my dad somehow decided to record some of the video clips he found entertaining and in the morning I used to wake up and watch his night trophies. Particulary FotD by IM absolutely blew my mind with every second of music and video. Everything that happened on the screen was million miles away from the reality we lived in and it absolutely determined my future development as a metalhead. Many years after I will be attending metal gigs, huge music festivals and so on, but this video will always be a game changer for a little kid i used to be.

The fun part is that the first time i've heard this song was on a Rockoteca (similar to discoteca but for metalheads) and it was with all male present in the building choring to this. I've thought to my self "this is f. amazing song", so i got the album and there was no choir... .. ... i was robbed in bright daylight..... to this day i believe that this song without choir is nothing and everything with it. btw the guitar melody in this song (with or without choir) is just my best and most favorit I had ever pleasure to hear :)

After that album Bruce left, came back and what? Iron was never ever again on top charts. Love Bruce solo achievements but Iron Maiden was never the same since that point. Up the irons hate me now I am ready!

Love how much this video is raw and probably low-budget. The beginning where you see all the people waiting probably at a music festival and no multi-camera angles when the band is on stage. This right here is the sheer power of rock/ metal. Can you get this kind of experience in current day and age? I'm sure you can come close but for me nowadays it feels more restrained, locked behind bars of safety, security etc, like a tiger in a cage. That being said, keep going to concerts, going crazy rocking to your fav. band and experiencing it to the very last drop. Lots of love from Poland to everyone reading this!
