Practicing an imstrument is like 1/2 practicing scales and the other half just starting over and over again failing on the same part on the sheet music until rage quitting
If you keep missing one part, I would recommend practicing it slower and patiently. It's like you're typing your password wrong but still can't understand why. You look at the keyboard and type it slowly, then you get your correct password, that's how it works. You shouldn't play in the original tempo when practicing a new song because you're anxious or "don't wanna waste time". You are going to learn it slower, willing or not. Practicing is not about speed, it's about accuracy.
What other think : Playing a full 30 minutes Tchaikowsky Concerto. Reality : 1. Tuning for 10 minutes 2. Doing scales for 5 minuts 3. Realize cant play in tune 4. Give up
Why is this so me 😂 The moment i play out of tune and keep repeating the same thing i just lose all motivations and put my violin back in my case to do other stuff
My roommate is a music major and she is very good but her practice sounds very bad lol. That is what practice is though🤣 When she is performance ready she sounds so beautiful
for me it’s the sound of me laughing at tiktoks and then gasping when my cello slips forward a little bit and then picking it back up and laughing at more tiktoks
Oh lord I remember one time I was tuning the strings while I was playing it and it snapped, almost blinding me in the process. I have never been this grateful for having glasses in my entire life lol
Bro it’s true like half the time we are “tuning” and then we mess around or rage at the very minimal errors and very little time is actually practicing
for real! when i first started playing and practicing the violin, i was like “im so bad😢” but then as i started progressing i realized thats how you get better lol
Dude this is SO relatable. People just assume that we sound awesome when we practice but when MAKING the sheet when you can't find it, I legit sound like an ambulance, I play the violin as well😂
Yep! I'm learning a Hadyn sonata right now and I've practiced nothing but the same 8 bars for the past week! 😁I'm looking forward to turning the page lol.
So true😭 I play the violin and once I finished practicing at 11am. On the next day my neighbors came up to me asking why do I play a trumpet in the middle of the night💀
True lol. Same with piano, guitar, flute, and vocals. The constantly practicing and getting it right only to mess up the next time. Whoo. I'm about to get back into violin and boy do I understand.
I can't have sound on, but I can still tell what it probably sounds like (or what is the point of the video) based on what I see you're doing on the violin... and I love it.
Practicing for me is like: 1. Playing random pieces for half an hour 2. Scales for like 30 seconds 3. Actually practicing for maybe 20 minutes 4. On the phone and drinking iced coffee
Practice for me is trying to make the intonation, tone, and then the hardest part keeping my bow straight I’ve been playing for 4 years but still can’t get that right
SO TRUE. Pianist here. My practice includes lengthy moments of rhythm work as I clap out competing RH vs LH rhythms and sound like the drunk at the pop concert. Then, there’s the tonnes of repeated notes and chords as I work to strengthen my ring and pinky fingers individually, to balance against other fingers in chords and runs and sound like a kid just whaling on a keyboard. Not to mention repetition of short phrases to work on fine-tuning dynamic control, rhythm precision, and muscle memory and I sound like the most irritating, skipping LP. Then practicing smooth transitions from one section to another which involves repeating the last notes of one section through the first notes of the next an obsessive number of times and it sounds like I’m showcasing all the ways to do it wrong instead of trying to do it right. Never mind that trills are my Waterloo so I end up sounding like an lopsided emergency vehicle for hours on end. 😂 God bless the others in my household and neighborhood! I think I’ll get them noise-cancelling headsets for Christmas.
Hahaha as a violinist this is so true. 🤣 It's half tuning, scales, and warm-ups. It's not as thrilling as it seems lol but I loved playing it until my hands couldn't anymore
The tuning part is on point. Nobody wants to listen to you ACTUALLY practice. That’s why it’s just more comfortable to practice alone in a quiet space.
I’ll usually spend forever tuning, try to play some scales, play a song, and then stop. It usually sounds bad when practicing but somehow I show improvement when I play with my orchestra and it’s like “this sounded awful yesterday, where did the good sounds come from XD”
That is extremely true. I remember a couple of years ago when I first started taking violin I had to do all of my hard things all of the time had to do my best. And I remember getting so frustrated if I didn’t perform, I thought was my best I would get very upset. Now I realize you have to take it slow and easy and enjoy the journey.
facts tho as a violinist myself ive only been playing two years but this is the most accurate short off what we really sound like when practicing bc half the time i practice how to mess up so i know how to correct it
Being Asian I'd just focus on the parts that I failed and gloss over the parts and I nailed. So basically 95% of every practice session sounds like a complete trainwreck
How people think i practice: plays fur Elise’s perfectly on the piano How I actually practice: metronome is at 70 bpm each quarter note per beat as I attempt to sight read the whole piece.

True
Rage quit 🤭 i would just shut my piano if things get worse, like.. im done, totally done with it 🌞

@@biazinha7424 that was the best definition I haven’t never heard from any music teacher. Congrats and that Tchaikovsky my my my so beautifully played
@@scribdfree7646 I've never heard such a compliment, thank you!! :)
My cello teacher one said, “if you sound good while you’re practicing, then you’re not practicing the right thing”
I'll write this in my brain's note section to never forget it.
@@muselo2731 This seems like something a SpongeBob character would say.
@@muselo2731 did you forget to write it in your brains note section like I did
That's true
Or the correct way.
What other think : Playing a full 30 minutes Tchaikowsky Concerto.
Reality :
1. Tuning for 10 minutes
2. Doing scales for 5 minuts
3. Realize cant play in tune
4. Give up
same but also open strings and failing seemingly easy double stops
You need to get that 440
except it’s scales for 30 min
Bro 3 and 4 are so precise
Why is this so me 😂
The moment i play out of tune and keep repeating the same thing i just lose all motivations and put my violin back in my case to do other stuff
So true! I feel bad for my neighbors that have to hear me play the same thing 10 million times in order to learn it 😂
Exactly I always feel so embarrassed😭
ah yes obsessively tuning as if that’s gonna fix our intonation
I wish it did 😭🤣😭
We should've never gotten rid of frets. I've seen the baroque paintings, I know they exist!
My roommate is a music major and she is very good but her practice sounds very bad lol. That is what practice is though🤣 When she is performance ready she sounds so beautiful

Your Tchaikovsky is amazing lol

When I practice it sounds like absolute chaos with a mixture of my hands getting sweaty and accidentally dropping the bow 🥲
Yeah😅😅!! You're absolutely correct as a
Violinist I accept it😅😅
The tuning never ends.
How I sound when I practice:
*silence cause I don't*
Sometimes I do but mostly don’t
Dude this is SO relatable. People just assume that we sound awesome when we practice but when MAKING the sheet when you can't find it, I legit sound like an ambulance, I play the violin as well😂
Yep! I'm learning a Hadyn sonata right now and I've practiced nothing but the same 8 bars for the past week! 😁I'm looking forward to turning the page lol.
That’s how the clarinet solo I’m practicing sounds lmao
So true, like I sound like nails on a chalkboard, but in front of an audience I sound more decent and presentable.
So true😭 I play the violin and once I finished practicing at 11am. On the next day my neighbors came up to me asking why do I play a trumpet in the middle of the night💀
“You have 1 hour to practice”
Tuning: it might seem crazy what im bout to say…
Me practicing*
My neighbours: IS THAT A HORSE?
Tim, you look the same every video..cool, down to earth, humble and amazing talent.. its very enjoyable to watch you.. 👏
omg you sound more better then me when we practice i frickin mess up every time playing the easy songs

True lol. Same with piano, guitar, flute, and vocals. The constantly practicing and getting it right only to mess up the next time. Whoo. I'm about to get back into violin and boy do I understand.
As a young violinest, i can confirm that this is very true
(Been playing since September 2022)
as a violinist i confirm this
I was practicing a song assigned from band and I started playing the national anthem for fun
Yep. My parents didn't expect it either. They still "joke" about the few times I was ever at home and practiced.
So true I feel so embarrassed to our neighbors and even to my family members every time when practicing 😢

This is so true, I play violin too.
This is totally true. My mother played violin in 7 symphonies in 3 countries. While in college when she practiced I went to the library to study.
As a violinist, i can confrim that this is incredibly accurate
OH MAY GAAAAAADDD YOU ARE AMAZING 😱😱😱😱😱
That is extremely true. I remember a couple of years ago when I first started taking violin I had to do all of my hard things all of the time had to do my best. And I remember getting so frustrated if I didn’t perform, I thought was my best I would get very upset. Now I realize you have to take it slow and easy and enjoy the journey.
I feel bad for my neighbour 💀
Exactly most people just assume you can do it perfectly your first time
Fr my family be so suprized 😆 😆 lol
This is so true I play the violin 🎻 and it doesn’t sound awesome every time and it never will- OH AND MY VIOLIN IS PURPLE 💜AND SPARKLY ✨
That's true. It's the same with any string or guitar kind of instruments and even dance, you are going move or note by note
Man is speaking straight facts
My sister keeps yelling at me of how many times I play the same thing and still fail 😭
TUNING. LOTS AND LOTS OF TUNING 😂
Yeah lol 😂, I can't seem to keep practicing what I set out to practice... like I just start making a lot of random sounds and get off track lol
Ah yes the tuning, what i do when im fed up and can't play the part and blame on the tuning 😂
THIS IS SO TRUE! i spend like half an hour just tuning in
So true Hahaa well you’re tuning in style
As a violinist this is very true.
Forgot the ones who stay in silence
Sitting on their phones
In my head: playing paganiniana
Reality: scales for whole day
Practicing the same couple measures over and over until I finally get it right… or until I can’t feel or move my fingers anymore.. 😶
can u try play the sound of how the bowgart plays his cello from my singing monsters 😯
I sound like I’ve never picked up a violin in my entire life when I practice lmao
Sounds sick on practice 😊
Yaaas 😂 I'm practicing and it's same like this
IKR EVERYTIME IM PRACTICING FOR MY CONCERTS THATS WHAT IT SOUND LIKE BUT ITS NOT LIKE THAT
As a violin player I can confirm this is how we practice
let's be honest we sound better* while practicing than at a concert
*skillwise
😂😂this is so relatable!!! Also, Curtis sweatshirt! Yeaaaah. Any tips for my audition?
This guy's muscle cramps are musical
Maybe is better: rare footage of a violinist practice more than 30 minutes
Thanks for sharing ! I appreciate the information 😊
Had a Roomate from CIM the cleveland institute of music.
That’s all I have to say about that. 😮💨
U definitely sound like a pro😊
That’s a beautiful violin 🎻 what kind is it?
It takes me like an hour to tune my violin every time I practice 😆
So relatable!😂
Imagine having to tune your instrument every time you practice 😂🫵
That is our reality…
Sometimes I didn't 😭
yep.. uh huh (i'm a violinist you don't know the pain when it comes to tuning when the seasons change and our violins go wonky)
Ok, but imagine being the person who can't carry their instrument everywhere haha cringe haha..
yeah, it's me, I'm the person, a pianist :||
lmao i feel like i'm annoying my neighbors with the EEHHH SCREEK EEEE like i promise i'll get there i'm just tuning and doing appregios lmao
So relatable 😂
I play flute and I can absolutely relate to most of this
Dude so true except at the moment we aren’t allowed to tune the violins but so true it sounds so raspy and like a frog in someone throte
As a beginner I conform this is true
facts tho as a violinist myself ive only been playing two years but this is the most accurate short off what we really sound like when practicing bc half the time i practice how to mess up so i know how to correct it
Expectation: Mozart, Beethoven and Bach
Reality: *s c a l e s*
I love spending half my day tuning my violin and it somehow sounds worse than before
Being Asian I'd just focus on the parts that I failed and gloss over the parts and I nailed. So basically 95% of every practice session sounds like a complete trainwreck
This is a good subject to make shorts about!
U should practice 40 hours a day 🤣🤣
just by listening to his tchaikovsky i think it's safe to say he does
NO it must be 40 hours in a hours
hahah lol
How people think i practice: plays fur Elise’s perfectly on the piano
How I actually practice: metronome is at 70 bpm each quarter note per beat as I attempt to sight read the whole piece.
"This is literally the highest pitch it can go, and it's lower yhan my lowest string"
too relatable hahaha
😂 for us we take about 5-10 minutes of tuning
Scales or simple pieces that are meant to only be played in the classroom 10 mins
Practice songs we need to do by dec 8
I play random scales and play in other positions
Spend 20 mins especially on violins trying to make the song better
Nah that’s when people who play string instruments rage and I know it :•
That’s really rare for violins to particle like that I know bc I play the violin
FR I'm doing 5 measures per hour 😂
My bro just peaceful,y tuning 😊
Hey I just started orchestra any advice??
