I first saw Olayemi on rising and I thought of Amanda and how I would like to see you two together. As soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew I had to watch this right away. I must say that it did not disappoint. I learned so much watching this episode. There is no end to the ways America pulls the wool over our eyes.
17:52 "WHY DID YOU COME HERE?!" 😭😭 I felt that so hard because the veil of "The American Dream" got yanked off long ago. I'm so glad Olayemi did come here and I learn something _monumental_ every time I hear her speak. These two ladies keep me sane. 👑👑
Ah, yes...the dream of leaving a land that's 85% Black with no prison industrial complex...to come here and endure stereotypes throughout her education in some of America's most racist states/cities, ultimately making it her life's work to abolish the prison pipeline while defending & advocating for people being held at Rikers because they can't make bail. Go find somebody else's comment to play under.
Her story is wild. She is such a strong and smart person. I would have been broken. This shows how your upbringing plays an integral part in how you feel about yourself internally and externally in this world. ❤
🔥🔥❤❤ Thanks Amanda for this great interview. Right I found out waiting on my eye glasses to come back last yr. They told me that the State uses people in the prison to make our eye glasses.
Retributive justice systems also ignores the victims. They only concentrate on punishing the people accused of crimes. What would a justice system look like that concentrated on healing and aid for the victims.
When are you going to talk about blk femicide, and the effects of blk male violence on women and girls. Its like our community cares more about men who hurt us and its sad.
@Oluminatti @msolurin when folk cannot pronounce your name properly you continue to repeat it. This was unacceptable for this to be the second interview between you both and Amanda hadn't practiced repeating your full beautiful name until she got it. Friends and Fam can use the shortened version not people who aren't taking the time to listen and get it right. That being said, highly informative episode.
The Shots at Tenn/W Va. And other places in this country??? I mean can we just say Black Americans would take that part of the video as disrespectful but great convo in majority
@nicegluefive5 you have a whole african that may forget time to time that she is a immigrant and you have a biracial nut case hosting this channel. What do you expect
Africans really don't know this land. Its comical when they try to spit what they think is new knowledge. Somehow have all the answers but not the answers for their actual home and actual people.
1. Olay is from the Bahamas, not Africa. 2. Enslaved people from Africa and the Caribbeans literally built this country after white people lead a genocide against indigenous Americans to steal the land. So if anything, we know this country better than the white people who try to keep us oppressed because they know this truth.
Not in the slightest. It's doesn't matter how long she been here. She is not us. She is just an African immigrant. Her nor her people have anything to do with Foundational Black Americans. It is not hard to get. Just mind your own business in africa
Fam.. I can listen to her accent all day telling me about the injustices of our current society
💯
The RICO charges against protesters for Cop City shows too that any resistance makes you a target.

@MaxineShaw_84 she came here like all immigrants to live a dream off of our nightmare. And you admire this behavior and mindset....right

that was a fantastic conversation!! Love, Honor and Value you #Olayemi .. #EndRikersEndCashBail
This was impeccable. Sis represents what we should all emulate.
🔥🔥❤❤ Thanks Amanda for this great interview.

Thank you for this episode very brilliant and informative a real eye opener for me thanks again
45:56 I agree, America loves to tell half lies and truths that sends people into a “ball of confusion”
I love to hear beautiful knowledgeable women breaking it down. Knowledge is Powa !!!!! ASHE
🎯 The accuracy!!! 🤌🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Such a fantastic guest. She is amazing.
I love it here.
“They’re silly they should’ve hired you”. The joke is you would’ve just continued to outshine em so theyre actually smart
Just amazing.
I always learn so much from Olay ✨

It would look like a fucking mess.
Thank you. Much love!
Olay I love you and I miss you
Im raising black 4 year old twin boys and im already fearful of the pipeline sucking them in. Which is a sad thought
Fight like hell to get them mentors and creative activities. They will make it.👍🏿
@joemincer8882 fight like heal to mend the relationship with gather father so he can lace their boots. What time are you on? Weirdo

Leftist mafia in da house! I love Olay
it’s way worse than you know
I got a phd in whiteness😂😂

Because you're only mentioning the symptoms, they are talking about the underlying causes and how to at least be aware or indeed...Awake.

Sam Bankman Fried isn't white, he's Jewish. He also donated heavily to the Democrats which probably made it easier for him to walk.
???? 😐The majority of American Jews who look white identify as white. If you didn’t know he was Jewish you’d think he was white…would you?
🙄
Why do we not just say “non white” instead of the “black and brown” ? , I think this causes confusion
because we aren't non white

There is nothing confusing about it. As people of color, we aren't centering whiteness when describing ourselves.
Africans really don't know this land. Its comical when they try to spit what they think is new knowledge. Somehow have all the answers but not the answers for their actual home and actual people.
The xenophobia out of you losers is incredible. And I'm from The Bahamas jackass.

This is just ignorant xenophobia. And she’s not even from Africa, she’s from the Caribbean and she’s been in America more than half her life.
