    I have been crocheting (my Nanny taught me) and knitting (taught myself) for over 40 years I always hated finishing off the project. You have changed my life, in all these years I never saw these tips. Thank you so very much.

    Tip 4. I split the stitches as well. I took a couple of crochet classes about 30 years ago. My instructor was older. The split tip was what she taught the class. I have not had a problem in all the years I have crocheted. She also said no knots, which I totally agree with. Someone once said that I am a purist. I enjoy watching the crocheters online. Even at my age, I am still learning new things and I love it. Thanks for the great video.

      I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Yep, I'd have to agree...splitting the stitches really is the best tip of them all.

      What does that mean? "Split the stitches" ?And also....i feel so dumb 4 asking these questions, but I'm not sure i care..lol...what do u mean by "no knots"? Lol💛

      @@hollydement2359 No dumb questions! It means when you sew in the ends, instead of sewing them in above or below the yarn stitches, you take the needle and sew thru them right into the yarn stitches itself. I hope this makes sense. I am not the best with explanations. I sew thru the stitches a couple of inches, turn my work and sew back thru them again and then cut off my yarn.

    Good video. I always check for tips and, turns out, these are the same tips i came up with over the years myself. Ive been crocheting since age 18 and knitting since 19. I am now 72. I always look to see if someone has a better way of doing things. Appreciate your videos!

    What a great video and so much fun to watch. Weaving in ends is one of the least fun things about yarn projects but your tips make it seem a lot less daunting. I am currently 2/3 of the way through a blackberry blanket and have sooooo many ends to weave in........maybe now it won't be so bad.

    These are all great tips Brittany! I also split the stitches. Sometimes, depending on the project, I will split the plies of the tail, tie them together which makes a very tiny knot and then weave each split ply in separately. I’ll do this with thin yarn. I don’t have any problems with my ends coming out. I always follow the rule of 3 and then some, lol. Love bent tip yarn needles too. Sometimes I’ll use chenille needles with a sharp tip. They work well too, especially for splitting the stitches. Great video! 🤗🤗

      What she means is that when you insert the needle, you want to push it right through a stitch’s yarn, splitting’ it. Your tail will go through that stitch’s yarn, and it will hold better. Like, instead of pushing the needle around or under the stitch, it should pass right through the yarn of the stitch itself. I hope this helped!

    Very helpful. I have trouble hiding the weave in, and recently I made some tube socks with yarn called Red Heart Hygge. It's so slippery that the tails have come out and the toe is coming apart... Hmmm.

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really struggle with this yarn too. I made a blanket with it years ago and the ends are unweaving as well. It doesn't split well on top of being very slippery like you said.

    How do you hide the tails in a holy garment? I have to add another ball and I’m in the middle of a very holy top. Thanks!

    What do you mean by 'split the yarn'?

  • @jenelleprins5306
    @jenelleprins5306 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don’t know what you mean by splitting the stitches. Do you mean run the needle through the middle of a strand of yarn? Doesn’t that risk breaking the yarn, especially with fragile yarn. Or is it something else? Lastly, why do you run it back and forth? I have always run tails both along a row and through the bulk of a fabric. Since I have never kept a blanket or scarf or garment that I have crocheted, I don’t know if the tails come out, but I have never had a complaint. I would think running a tail back and forth would bulk up the stitch. I’m absolutely on board to try something new, but I first need to know what I’m doing and then I need to know why. It’s my process. 😊 Thanks.

    • @bhookedcrochet
      @bhookedcrochet  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Sure! When you're using the needle to weave in the end, rather than run it neatly through the middle of the stitch, try running it through the yarn and splitting it. That way it'll grab on to itself a little better. Does that help?

    There is nothing more cringe worthy to me when watching a crochet tutorial and someone leaves a one or one and a half inch tail!!!! What in the universe is wrong with that person???? Laziness? The fear or dread of actually having to weave????
