- In this video I show 5 different ways you can join yarn skeins together and weave in the ends of your crochet project. I talk a little bit about Spit Splicing, The Russian Join, 2 different ways of doing the Invisible Knot, 3 Different ways of weaving in your ends and ending with an introduction to using Fabric Glue. Try out each option if you would like. Maybe you will discover a new way of doing things that works better for you than what you are currently doing. Or, maybe, you'll just learn of different techniques you have never heard of before. Either way I hope you enjoy my video!

Wow! I am an avid blanket maker, and for almost a year, I have been making scrap blankets with as many colors as possible. Weaving in ends is totally out of the question. I have tried many forms of knots and while they work, sometimes I have difficulty making them. Your knot 1 is an absolute game chnger! It's so much easier than the other 2 knots and it is very compact. Thank you so much for teaching all of us. My subscription to TH-cam premium is worth it when the content is exceptional. 😊

Amazing! 👏 My biggest worry has always been combining 2 yarns and weaving in the ends. I make projects but I never ever sell them because I'm not confident enough in my work due to these 2 reasons. I'm so very glad that Crystal from BOD sent me over to your channel! I feel more confident with just watching the video and I haven't even tried them out yet. Lol
Also, if you happen to read this comment by any chance, I need help. Idk if I'm the only one who has this issue or not but I can't seem to make a straight line for the life of me. 😔 For instance...A blanket. Just a plain regular single stitch, or double stitch, etc It doesn't matter as long as it's a straight line. Lol It doesn't seem to matter how tight or loose my stitches are, I just can't seem to do it! It goes sideways for some reason. I feel so stupid. It shouldn't be that hard to do something so simple right?! I can do a Chevron or amigurumi, anything in a circle but just not a straight line. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Can you please help me 🙏

Hi Victoria. I am so sorry I am just now seeing this message a year after you posted it. I hope you were able to figure out how to work a straight line of stitches since. But just in case you are still struggling with it I have a couple ideas that might help you out. My first tip is try counting the number of stitches you have in each row for the first 4-5 rows. His will help you to stay on track and also help you to see how the row ends each time so you know what to look for. The second thing you could try is stitch markers. Place w stitch marker in the first stitch and last stitch of each row. This will help you o know where you need to stop. These two tricks should help. Please give them a try and if they still don’t work let me know and we can look into other solutions. Thanks for asking! Happy crocheting! 😊❤️🧶

In the demo, the new color doesn’t start at the beginning of a row, however, later in the demo, it does. I want to know how to add new yarn at the beginning of a row.

So interesting! I love the idea of flexible fabric glue.....there are times I could def use it in knitting too, esp when using cotton yarn that never seems to anchor well into the fabric! Btw, you probably know this but the 'strings' or 'threads' that make up the yarn are called plys x
I thought so! But I wasn’t sure what word would connect to people the best so I tried a few different terms. 🤷🏼♀️😊❤️🧶

Great video! Will all of these techniques work on a 6 super bulky yarn? I’m doing a blanket and it will take lots of skeins.
That is a great question Gina! Honestly, when working with the thicker weight yarns or yarns more slippery like silks/ ribbons/ chords if a normal weave does not stick or look good I resort to using the Aleene's Fabric Fusion Quick Dry. The reason I am so specific with not just the brand but the exact bottle is because it is the only one I swear by. It works like magic and is my go to when using bulky yarns like a size 6 weight or 7 weight.

#2looks best for me,me, Russian one is too meticulous for me. I tend to be a perfectionist and that would help drive me crazy faster
Hi Tiffany, I am so glad I found you. I learned so much from you today. I am really interested in trying the glue. I do a lot of baby blankets made with bernat yarn and it hard to weave the ends in, there so thick and I do go back and forth up and down but I'm afraid when they get washed they could come out. I did hear that you can sew them, I never tried doing this though. Could you tell me where you get the glue you use? Is it hard to get off your fingers? Thank you sharing such good tips. I'm going to use what I learned today I saved it to my favorites.
Hi Sandi! I am so glad you found me too! This video actually introduced ME to a few new ways of doing things that made me really excited too. So glad you found it helpful as well. You can find this Fabric Glue at any craft store or online. Just make sure it’s the kind that dries clear and flexibly. Super important. I will make sure there is a link for it in the notes section below the video. And as for messy hands I just rub my fingers together or rub my hands together and the glue ends up clumping upon itself and falling off. Super super easy to get it off your hands. 😉. Great question! The best videos that show how to join yarn in crochet are the super short and sweet simple videos that last at the most 3 minutes. They don’t over complicate it, over explain it, or make it harder than it has to be. This was a bit long winded and over explained for me. I mean most people in the world are not complete idiots nor are we comprehending things on a kindergarten or 1st grade level… therefore we don’t need things explained to us in a super long, intricate, too-broken down way. Don’t get me wrong, super appreciate the effort and how much effort was put into trying to explain this. I just felt like that in over explaining you can make it over complicated and more confusing than it needs to be. Most people will know what you mean when u say things like “wrap one piece of yarn around the other”..in addition to a video demonstration of u wrapping two pieces of yarn around the other; vs. saying “you take the tail end of your working yarn, the one your working with, and make a u shaped hook going this way. Then take the end of the new skein of yarn and put it over the old yarn, then go under, then go over… then go around then take the new yarn go under and then over and under again….etc … “. It was super confusing and had me doubting what I was doing, which was generally a very simple action just the way it was explained had my head going in circles

How do you weave lace ends?
Hi Iris! This is a great question because the lace ends are so silky and slippery. Personally this is exactly when I would use the fabric glue to hold the ends in place. Dries clear and should secure that end. That's what I would do. 😊🧡🧶

Great question! Some of these techniques do work with velvety yarn. But if your are weaving in your ends you might really like the fabric glue trick. 😊❤️🧶

I'm fascinated by spit-splicing. Wouldn't it come undone when the item is being washed? Is it only fot things that won´t really be washed (decorative plushies or the likes)?
I’m not a fan of the spit-splicing either but saw that it is a legit technique and wanted to include it. You’re right though. Not sure how reliable it would be and would probably stick to decorative items for it.
For technique number 4 rather than weave them in why not just cut off the tails?
Your invisible join #2 is called a square knot.
