My dad was a state wildlife trapper when I was very young. He taught me how to trap. I bought all of school clothes as a junior high schooler with the furs I harvested. 👍👍👍

Good luck on your trapping. My brother is having trouble with raccoons on his property and wants to grow the turkey population on his property also. He's eliminated 32 so far with more to come. Raccoons are cute little critters, but can be very destructive, as well as vicious. He's also trying to eliminate coyotes also for the same reason.

My nephew has done the Polar Plunge to raise money for the Special Olympics every year for well over 20 years. He has set many state records for pledges. We are very proud of him as both a fund raiser and athlete in the Special Olympics. He is on the spectrum.
My youngest son did the "Turkey Dip" for the ARC of CT the first 3 or 4 years. Used to tease him about being the first turkey to be dipped. Quit after he got sick almost to pneumonia.

My family were farmers 2 generations back. My Grandfather and Uncle would go hunting in the fall.
I don’t hunt or trap. I do enjoy fishing.
I don’t take issue with responsible hunting or trapping or gun ownership. It’s the irresponsible ones that drive me crazy. They also seem to be louder than the responsible people.
I learned organic gardening as I was growing up. Back then, we were considered whackados. We’re cool now.
The people who yell and complain about hunting, trapping, gardening even, in a respectful and responsible way don’t understand the difference.
If one of the creators that I watch is doing something I’m not interested in, I don’t have to watch that video. It’s really cool how that works.
Anyway, I’ll hop off of my soapbox.

The most I ever traped was groundhogs. They did heavy damage to the hay fields an cow pastures. Besides cooked right they taste pretty good. Coon's taste good to.lol you can probably tell I am a old farm boy. I grew up in the Mo. Osark's. God bless you and yours.🙏❤️🇺🇲👍🙉🙊🙈😂🖖 live long and prosper.

Charlie showed his dominance when Bear laid down and exposed his belly to Charlie.
For implements, I laid out old railroad ties for a frame, about 40 feet long. Then filled with gravel. Gave me a parking place for all of the implements and keeps them off the dirt.
Traps have a good purpose. I trapped over 20 muskrats out of my pond that were digging holes in the banks and dam. I had to spend over a week fixing the leak in the dam.
Spending several hundred dollars on stocking, you don't want to lose the fish.
Got a brand new baby niece Amelia grace she’s tiny 5pounds 8 ounces now so happy

I was widowed in 2002 when my wife passed unexpectedly at 40 years old. Enlarged heart that has no symptoms. My hubby is going trapping for raccoons, and they have destroyed the turkeys around our area. There is nothing wrong with helping the eco system. Thank you for sharing.

Trapping is a way of life and if done responsibly, it definitely can improve and redress the natural balance that humans have managed to knock terribly out of true. Your comments about trapping raccoons reminded me of the book Where the armed Fern Grows. Great story.

You're not aiming to get rid of all the raccoons or coyotes any more than you are the deer. If anyone of the over populate the area it becomes an issue. Keep up the great work.

I love our raccoons. We have 2 orphans that we raised about 3 years ago. Little Orphan Annie and Rocky, both females. They have babies every year and move them out in Oct./Nov. and film them while here. They are so cute and get along my my cats and the possums. I can't imagine harming them.

I can remember trapping with my dad when I was a kid, great times. My dad was self-taught, but he could trap anything he went after. Not only does trapping help with conservation, but there’s some money to be made, if you trap enough of the right animals, no big money like when we were trapping.
Be safe, and hope this a good leaning experience for Houston.
As I have said before it is called stewardship. You have a great responsibility with your land and Millcreek property and you are great at the stewardship of land management, along with population control. Some people just need to remove the stick which is where it does nor belong and get educated. The smile came with that new hired hand, and of course Charlie. I lived in West Virginia for a cpl or months in 1989 & the guy I was with back then came from coal miners & they did hunting, fishing, & trapping for a living. I hated seeing the Muskrat drown itself before we caught it, but it was good eating. Phoebe sure is a pistol!!
