I was one of those kids. GOD sent people like you into my life. Those seeds that were planted into my life have followed me into my adult life. Life was terrible at home but people like you showed me that there was a better life out there. THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE FOR THOSE KIDS!!

You have hit on so many things for these young boys. Maybe you can become a mentor to a few of them along life's path. God does put people, in this case children in our path that may need a loving hand to guide them along life's journey. Yes we have a hurting nation full of children that need help, who have never been taught to love or respect others or have not received from home. It's a hard life for them. There is no easy fix as family values have been torn from the fabric of life itself. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Daniel as a retired teacher, these things you brought up with the kids is one of the hardest things for me. Countless tears have been shed, prayers, snacks kept in my room for students not getting enough to eat and anonymous gifts given. It is heart breaking. Too many folks don’t have any idea what these kids are going through. Hope and pray for those precious little souls and be a light for them whenever you can. Thank you for always helping others. God bless you.

@leonnagann5161 you took the words right out of my mind 😊 I too used to be a teacher. Many tears shed. Many prayers said and much patience and love given. Daniel, I hope you see this note because you need to know that you made a difference in those 3 days. Number 1, I guarantee you made Houston very proud to be your son and he will never forget the experience. Number 2, you showed the other boys something important about being a man and being a father that they will never forget and carry with them into adulthood ❤️. Many blessings to you.

I was a sub for kindergarten at one of our county school! I live in East Tennessee and many of our students had never been out of our county ! So when it came snack time and most kids had their money, several didn’t ... so I would give them money for a snack ! Not bragging or wanting any pats on the back ... But I could not set there and see some kids with snack and others without ! My husband said “You are substantiating for nothing , but at least those kids are not going without “ ! This world gives to much to overseas children when there are so many in our own back door ! I’m not saying not to help others .. I just feel they should help our own area kids first ! I hope I’m not causing any issues here , just my thoughts !

What you fail to realize is that you already made a difference. You were there. You showed up and provided guidance, structure and comfort. Why do you think you always had at least one glued to your side? It may have been brief BUT, those kids will never forget that pillow fight. Try not to carry the burden alone, you simply cannot . What you can do, you did in those 3 days. And imagine how proud Houston was to see and hear them with you knowing, that's my Dad and he's the best.

A word of advise on grass fires. If it happens, a tractor pulling a moldboard plow can turn over the grass into the soil in a wide enough area to stop a fire. The fire has to jump the fire break. Nothing to burn when the grass is turned under.

Your statement, "we are failing our kids", is so true. It isn't just in the US. My kids were raised in Australia, and there is now an epidemic of kids stealing cars in Melobourne, and I now live in France near Paris, and recently kids were in the Paris streets burning cars and breaking store windows. It is not just in OK, CA, WA, IL. It is a world wide epidemic of parents not engaging with their kids and it is no different than the owner of those roaming dogs just allowing things to happen without responsibility.

I grew up in a cold household. I worked a lot as an adult and raised my daughter with a lot of rules. I thought I had shown my daughter a lot of love, but now that she’s an adult she said she didn’t always feel that. My parents were not good parents, but because I was able to see other parents I tried to be better. Now my daughter teaches me how to be better. It’s a struggle to make ends meet and sometimes parents are working so much that they don’t realize they are emotionally absent. We are our brothers keeper. The families of today need prayer, love, compassion, and support.

    Hello Daniel
    I’m 65 years old
I have thought about talking to you about this same topic. But didn’t feel comfortable talking to you about it tell now. I left home at 14 to get away from the abuse it was vary hard along the way. Two years ago I had PTSD from what I went through. I always look to people like you to learn from. Now the reason I watch you is because I love watching how you raise your kids. It is vary comforting to watch and your kids are vary luck to have a MOM AND DAD LIKE YOU! I still struggle but have come so far and have JESUS in my life has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. So never stop doing what you do cause there are kids and adults that will see what you are doing and it will help. Also I love that your not afraid to talk about JESUS ON YOUR CHANNEL.
    Thanks for everything you do.
    Love you family vary much.

I’m better and will never give up. I always fought hard to to get wear I’m now but could have never made it without JESUS and people like the arms family. I went to talk to someone who could help me a few years ago and spelled my guts. Things that had happened when I was about 3 give or take a little. I don’t talk about it anymore but now I don’t feel the way I’d for so many years and made so many poor choices. I also found out when I was there talking I had PTSD. That explains the anger and distrust I had for people I had no friends because that was safe for me. I could go on but i will stop here. But I will say I am most thankful for JESUS IN MY LIFE AND THE PEOPLE I LET IN NOW.
      God bless

Oh Daniel. I love your honesty, even when it's hard. Could you invite your group of kids out for a saturday night camp at the creek and teach them fishing ? Or go see the deer ? Or just drive them around in your side-by-side and show them all your animals ? Deejay might have signed you up, but God put you there at the right place and the right time. Your kids are extremely lucky you're their Dad. Maybe some other kids could be extremely lucky to have you as a mentor. You've been a trooper, you've seen where kids can end up, maybe this is your path to change their path.

On the dog situation, hopefully your city/county/town has a leash law. Paying fines for several dogs for not abiding by the leash law might get the owner’s attention. Your experience on the camping trip with Houston I’m sure was eye-opening for most of the father & mother hosts. Giving those children 3 days of fun is an experience some of those children have never had. We don’t know what the children in our neighborhoods live through behind closed doors. The school staff/teachers see so much more and can only do so much to help. Houston and Emily are blessed.

when I was a kid my neighbor who lived next to us shot our other neighbor's dog dead for invading his property. To be fair the neighbor who killed the dog had a lot of patience, he warned the other guy maybe 6-10 times to control his animals, it was some kind of pitbull mixed dog who killed a dozen of his chickens and it killed every single rabbit that my neighbor kept as well.

Where I live, the sheriff's department will not do anything about dogs. Your options are limited. Most organizations can't take any more dogs. And it's hard to get any help getting them a home or into a shelter. Your options are as follows take Them in and take care of them, or you can be a jerk and do what the owner who had them previously did dump them off, Or worst case scenario just playing shoot Them. Those options are not good.

Bless you Daniel for being ‘Jesus with feet on’! As an 85 year old foster parent of 15+ babies & children, (when my own 3 children were under age six), I have never given up on praying for each of them, that they would find good loving homes in which to be placed. Later, working as an attendant in a juvenile hall, I saw the results of parental neglect in young teens there. We provided a God-centered home For our own+ a couple of foreign exchange students etc. We didn’t have many material things, but more than enough love to go around. Unfortunately ‘now a days’ foster parents in most places dare not mention faith, God etc. Thankfully, God‘s Word & love can be shown many ways besides the spoken word, & you just displayed that to these children! God bless you!

Brings tears to my eyes. We ran paintball games and mostly young men 15 to 20 worked WITH us. They discovered they had rights. They as referees could tell adults to put on their goggles and follow the rules but also do the work so they have fun. The boost to their self worth when we told them they did good was good but then the group they were in charge of gave them a tip. We ran games rain or shine, hot or cold. After the groups left we still had to clean guns, dump trash, and get ready for the next day. At one point we had up to 150 individuals working with us. I won't say employees because they meant more to us than that. We loaned money, we went to graduation, we bought suppers. A few of the guys we probably kept out of jail. Many went into the army because they saw and heard how my husband a helicopter pilot, our partner a tank driver took that knowledge and used it in their life. It's a blessing you will never outlive. I hope and pray you do this again

Grandma made clothes and would bring them to the houses, and she would bring food to them too. My Grandma was an amazing woman. I too am worried about the kids of today. I was a lunchroom manager in an elem. school. I had little ones come to me and ask if I wanted a hug, of course I always wanted one. We were told it was best if we did not touch the kids, but I could not let them go unloved. I knew the ones that were homeless or living in a car and made sure they got extra food at breakfast and lunch. I watched on Monday mornings and saw kids pick up their break. plates and lick the corners from being hungry over the weekends. I broke a number of rules, but my principal backed me all the way. A lot of these kids were migrant kids and from very poor homes. They kept extra clothes in the office for cool mornings since a lot of the kids did not even have a sweater.

This is so on point Daniel! My Ex was a veteran police officer, someone he had a ‘gift’ for bumping into children who were in desperate NEED of just SOMEONE! We ended up befriending two young girls whose mother was just ‘off’ she didn’t seem to grasp that kids actually need a parent to do more than simply put a roof over their heads and feed them fast food. We also ‘adopted’ a 11 year old boy whose Brother was involved in drugs, (which is why my ex met them) and his mother thought we would be able to help steer her youngest in the right direction. Unsure why SHE couldn’t, but we happily accepted. These children had never been allowed to do ANYTHING, I will forever cherish their reactions the first time we took them fishing or the first time they got an honest to goodness HOME COOKED MEAL. Thing is we were firm, but we showed them LOVE and I sometimes think we were the first ones to ever really love them unconditionally. It didn’t depend on their chores (which we did have them do when they stayed with us) or anything other than the fact that they were just THEMSELVES. George passed away last year just 21 days shy of his retirement. He had a HORRIBLE accident in his skid steer. It absolutely devastated those (now adult) kids. I honestly believe that those experiences will never leave me. I know that we changed their lives for the better. God bless you for being a light in those children’s lives. You could have been their very first experience with what true Christianity is. I do not feel we have long at all until we are all taken home. We need to be busy spreading the word.

they faced each day at camp, the acting out became obvious when time to go home. They were " Latched" kids to any adult who showed them kindness, interaction, empathy, laughter and joyfullness. This all happened back in 1986, and has never gotten better.
