    Here in Poplar Bluff, MO we got a total eclipse. The strangest animal activity I saw was with wild birds. About 20 seconds before totality there were no birds on the ground. I saw a dove, a crow, a cardinal, a robin and a woodpecker all roosting in one tree. The temperature dropped, the street lights came on and the city put on a fireworks display that lasted all most as long as the eclipse but it came back much faster than it developed.

    The eclipse has passed us here in Texas. We were 98% totality where we were. It got a little bit dark, but nowhere like night. The temp did drop and it got quite cool. I did hear one cow moo, but the animals didn't react in any way that I could tell. We don't have chickens so I couldn't tell if they would start to roost.

    Here in Nova Scotia, I was 19 years old when we had a total eclipse. Very eerie as the birds stop chirping and it feels like you go deaf. Enjoy evry1

    We were in the path of 100% totality and it was absolutely beautiful. I was almost in tears and words can't describe it. And it got SO, SO dark outside. A truly incredible sight with the naked eye. I understand why people travel so far to witness one now.

    98.4% coverage in Livonia, Michigan. A neighbor and his daughter drove to near Toledo, Ohio, where they experienced totality!!! Mathew said the experience was "awesome and like nothing he has ever seen before". He was so thankful to have the opportunity to experience totality. In 1973, the college astronomy club students and professor, drove to Prince Edward Island on the line of totality. Crickets chirped, birds stopped flying, the sky darkened, the tide stopped, you could hear thousands of clicks from the hundreds of cameras, could hear many different languages from scientists from all around the world, air temperature dropped, and the totality seemed to last for 5-6 minutes. Unforgettable!

    Sorry I didn’t get to catch your live. I expected it to look darker there. The camera may not have done justice because it looks light. The lack of reaction in the chickens really surprised me. The temp drop was interesting. Here in Southwest Tennessee, we got 98% and saw it very well in spite of earlier cloudiness. Love your channels. Thanks for coming on live today.

    • @ericvandeweyer1766
      @ericvandeweyer1766 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correct about the camera compensating for the lower light as it tries to give a good picture even in very low light. It wouldbe neccessary to disable the compensation in the camera to get the real effect on camera. One of the problems of modern fully automatic cameras.

    Hi Gary,
    pointing the camera at the sun would not be harmful for the viewers as the brightest we could get is the brightness of our screens, not of the Sun. At a few percent, you wouldn't harm the camera either and you would then see a better view of what the darkness is like. Wthout pointing it at the sun, the camera compensates for the lack of light and so the pictures we saw looked like pretty well full daylight throughout the video so we didn't really see any effect of totality.
