- We had a rather expensive month with the Mercedes CLA45s AMG. Here's what happened!
This video features the CLA45s AMG which is one of the AMG performance versions of the Mercedes CLA. My car is the 2022 CLA45s AMG Coupe but you can also get the CLA45s AMG Shooting brake or even the A45s Hatch back.
The CLA45s gives you that great AMG sound from the AMG performance and also the luxury of a Mercedes Benz

Yes sir, this is a part of owning a car like this. Someone told me earlier "Dont buy a car that you cant afford to maintain". If you cant afford the car new, i would really look in to what you need to do to keep it running.

Here in Montreal, we need to put winter tyres on so we get a bit more life out of our performance summer's. I just bought a set of Micheline Pilot Sport 4S for my 2022 CLA35. Firstly, no run-flat and they're rated to last longer than the OE Potenza Sports. The new tyres ran me $2400 CAD... These are the kind of expenses that a car owner needs to keep in mind.

@ABAUTOAMG I am slightly surprised by the cost of the tyres, that should have been £840 max ps4 tyres 210 pounds per tyre.
@@silverfoxsilverfox6932 It’s because I wanted to get the M01 version of the tyres (the mercedes amg dev ones) to make a video about them. They cost a bit more per tyre, then there is cost to fit them
How about a 4 wheel alignment to go with the new tires?

I’d go for the C43 myself unless you can push budget for a a45s.
If you lived in southern California your same expenses would have exceeded the amount you paid in the UK. Good for you !
Been following your channel since you got your c43 your running costs are most probably similar to c43 apart from your pcp about 8 pounds a day like the new car had me fooled l thought it was a c63 you was purchasing keep them coming
Thank you! That's a long time :) its been a fun journey! You are bang on The CLA cost wise has been very similar to the C43. I’d put the same tyres on both and same tax and insurance costs. Interestingly the Aston Martin might work out cheaper (at least while its still under warranty 😅) because it has 2 years of free services and believe it or not the it is cheaper to insure than the 45s despite its value. I guess less people crash them cos they are more rare.
Like how you explained this was expected cost which I feel like is needed to save you from problems going forward especially tires. Not a bad investment with how much the car cost.

Same here Adam, but no surprises except £700 body work for the person who keyed it. My tyres on the cla after a year and a half are really good but will have to change them before 3 years are up. My next car is calling but do no idea yet keep looking at the new M4 x drive. Look forward to your videos of your lovely Aston Martin and sounds from your new exhaust.👍

For anyone living in the UK how hard is it to make 10 pounds a day?
That’s minimum wage in the uk so it’s relatively easy if you get a job
They are just running costs, and could have spread costs of some of those items, so not paying all at once. For instance, I've always had to replace front two tyres first together as front end is heavier. With both my 35 & 45 this has been the case...also I've had two front tyres already on a 23 plate 45 due to pot holes, can't budget for that eh!

O wow, only 800 for Insurance? I've spent 1670 for my AMG35 sedan 2023 in Poland so how is it possible?
In the UK a lot of it is due to you post code (low crime area) age and how many years with no claims (I have 13 years no claims). This all helped mine drop a lot.

Every car costs money to run and maintain. Your costs are just normal. No need to complain. Different story if the car had actually needed repairs. Enjoy the car and remember that you only die once but live every day unlike what most people think that you only live once………..Also you are actually quite lucky . I live in Australia and my 2024 A45s insurance is $2200. My other car a 992 Turbo s insurance is $9000. The costs of running anything decent here down under is just ridiculous. Enjoy while you can
Hey thank you for the comment. I think you might have missed a few important parts in the video so il reconfirm them here. I had a whole section in the video where I said that I am not complaining about these costs they were all planned and expected and I wanted to make this video to help educate anyone looking to buy a car like this so they aren't caught out. For the insurance part I also said I was happy that it was as low as 800 for a car like that. So, no complaining here just enjoying my car and sharing the running costs to help anyone looking into buying one or who might be interested. I can appreciate though that in Australia its a lot more expensive.

I'm planning to buy a 2019 c43 or e53, and for both cars, the insurance will be at least £1800! I'm 37 and I have no points on my driving licence
Ouch! That is a lot. Do you live in the city? I live in a quiet area so that helps keep it low. Sounds very high though have you checked using gocompare? Admiral is the company I’m with.
Cost me over 1500 last year to renew my insurance on my A35 🫠
You should buy a great book, rich dad, poor dad 👍 his advice, buy assets, first accumulate them and allow them to then pay for the liabilities lol, not the other way round 🙂
