Oh no! I was really hoping the 2024 would be better! I have a 23 plate CLA and was hoping to get the new one, but the decreased functionality in the centre console really puts me off! Seems like a lot less car for a lot more money.
Its just kinda expensive for what it is. In the used market and new. I once configured a CLA 180d, so a very weak engined CLA with quite a good equipment. And I saw, even if I got an Hyundai Ioniq 6 Base model with 151hp and no additional equipment I still get more equipment and a car that is from base sound dampened on all windshields etc. And all that for 2 grands less on a new car. I like the CLA alot kinda. Atleast based upon design I think its more interesting than some Audi Sportbacks in the same class or slightly above.
Thanks for your review I can not agree more... unfortunately the Parking assist 360° is even worse...The flap of the reversing camera opens and closes by itself during forward travel. Remedy from Mercedes: Complete the calibration successfully. For this, the vehicle must be driven forward for a certain time at a speed < 30 km/h and a steering wheel angle < 10". This should be done in daylight and with no vehicles driving closely behind. The camera must be able to see the asphalt When calibration is successful, the camera flap closes automatically. 😑 And you can not disable it... 👏👏👏
I agree man! The new facelift feels cheaper and less luxury with all the things they took out from the middle console area. Also the ambient color choices are terrible. I tested them out when they gave me a loaner while my car was being serviced and I hated every single color combo 😂😂. I also don’t like the facelift of the lights in the front and the slight change in the rear taillights too. Older/pre facelift model looks way better and I’m happy I don’t have this new one. When I upgrade I’ll be moving onto another model because the CLA just isn’t it anymore.
I think that actually for a lot of people the facelift, especially cutting off the options for the display settings and removing the touchpad, is a win. Not everybody who drives a merc is a tech freak. Dont get me wrong, I understand your points and for me even pre facelift could have more Customizing options, but for example my dad has the B class w247 pre facelift and he is totally overhelmed with the usage. Once he accidently changes, lets say the right side of the speedometer, he cant get it back. Or my mum, as a pasenger, accidently swipes on the touch and he is lost. Talking about the touch panel, it swipes in the opposite direction than touching/swiping the display does??? That even confuses me 😅 Sometimes it is better to have less options and ways to control the display. We just bought a CLA SB facelift for my wife. If i imagine I would have to explain her the funtions from pre facelift , she would give up. I drive a w214 facelift and love the customizing functions as well as the touchpad. But again, not every merc driver is a car or a tech freak. To be honest, even looking youtube videos about our own car tells a story about us... I do it all the time , also for my bike, but drivers like my wife or my dad are different. Next example is my mother in law , she drives an E coupe AMG - jesus, you wont believe how many times she calls me up cause some setting are changed. She drove merc all her live , every SL model from the 70s, later twice the AMG GT and now the E . Never had to help her, just with the new generation... What you are talking about is a none issue - You shouldn't be using maps whilst driving, the mode select has a delay for a few ms enough that it won't toggle anything with the gearbox. However i can agree with the centre console its a bit sparse and just sitting there doing nothing. Blame countries who have consistent toll roads i guess where you need coins on hand.
Just ordered my CLA 200 - I absolutely love the controls minimalist design, the dash the interior the usability and voice control and of course the drive. Good review but unfortunately not so good for new users, when the reviewer is so tied up with I prefer the “old one” oh it was better etc to me 99%of cases i do no like change because they get so used to the status quo, and don’t actually review the driving, the performance and good sides to this car. Sure maybe you’ve done it with old versions pre facelift, but me new users will not look at 2019 reviews haha give me the new material. This was all about I wish the kept the buttons in a different place - perhaps that’s because of voice control, maybe I stand to be corrected _ give me a few months after I get my car
I've just got the 2024 cla and like it alot. Great mbux7 is good most things are voice activated so no button to distract from driving. Overall I'm impressed with the technology and mbux7 system

Mercedes with this updates are very greedy or stupid they downgrade the facelift versions but price still went up nothing but the best really? they totally make the cars for them self not for customers..
Hello in my opinion facelift looks way better from the outside. i have own cla45s street style edition 2024. Taillights as well as front lights looks very modern and fantastic. maybe touchpad is downdise , but the looks from outside is more important for me. Also sound system is improved and there are more extras like head up display, 360 camera and wirless charging as standart(for 45s)
Hey, the 45s street style is great. Great to hear they improved the options on the higher up AMG. I will have to get my hands on one for another video. It’s still a fantastic car. I was just disappointed in the cost saving changes on the non AMG model.
I WAS a huge Mercedes fan, having driven each model C Class since 2006. Then I owned a 2021 A200d hatch from new. It was THE worst quality Mercedes ever. Rattles, cheap plastics, endless infotainment issues. That interior was just horrendous. I got rid of it after 10 months. They just couldn’t fix all the issues. Then I made an even bigger mistake. I bought a new W206 C220d. What a lemon. It broke down after 350km from new: electronic failure rendered it unsafe to drive for 5 weeks until the module could be replaced. Then all the rattles and electronic gremlins started. The MBUX was crap, CarPlay never worked, centre screen turned off intermittently. Endless rattles and squeaks. Endless software upgrades. After 9 months I got rid of it. Mercedes has gone cheap on all fronts: below quality interior plastics and materials, crap software. The golden age of Mercedes during the 1970s and 1980s are long gone.
Cla45s will hv the porsche like dial on the steering wheel to chg to sports mode… as for the rest , there is no difference btw sports n comfort mode as it is under power😂
I have a 2019 CLA… can’t say I’m enjoying the ownership experience… and as for the Brand/dealership experience… it is woeful… In my opinion, Mercedes is not a premium brand. It’s a mediocre brand charging very high fees for a very poor ownership experience…
theres no facelift here 😂 those headlights and taillights weve seen them already. those touch controls are like moving from a PS5 Pro into a PS3. old sings better. the buttons feel like tools for a pro driver
I just don’t see the appeal in these. From the Renault engines to the dowdy styling. People are paying £40k for these things. It’s probably worth half of that and the rest of it is just badge tax. I’d be happier with a Golf or Ford fiesta.
Completely agree Mercedes don’t listen to their customers and they are greedy.

Agreed.i prefer the older version 🎉🎉🎉
Super duper beneficial video! Mercedes failed for this one hard and also most of other models as they stopped putting touchpad and buttons
Make it cheap, make it look expensive, ask more money, clients are payingfor the brand anyway..The path of Philips.
I have the 220d amg and it's god awful..the gearbox is appalling..its been back 5 times and still not sorted..now it's intermittent at best..I had about 8 days of it being smooth and selecting the correct gear..then back to it's old self again..v odd but would def never have another
Mercedes with this updates are very greedy or stupid they downgrade the facelift versions but price still went up nothing but the best really? they totally make the cars for them self not for customers..
My brother is a mechanic and he says Mercedeses are endless money pits. He recommends Lexus, Toyota, Mazda and Honda.
Your brother should remain as car mechanic and repair Fords,...
Is your brother Japanese?
The CLA when it was introduced was the beginning of the downfall of Mercedes-Benz(Not AMG though).
Personally overall i find it to be a beautiful car
Agreed, the CLA is a lovely car. Despite the issues highlighted here in the facelift I still love the CLA.
Making the car worse and cutting out features is what likely every mercedes facelift is since the last 20 years.
Agree 100% Adam
(MY24 CLA45S)
Couldn't agree more. I am much happier with my CLA 2022
I think it’s gorgeous! But it’s a Mercedes….not what it used to be!
Totally agree with you 💯
Happy with my MY22 CLA45S.
Another point the MBUX system was first available in the CLA in 2019 your comments make it sound like it's new in 2024
Totally Agree!
I HAVE FROM 2019 AND I AGREE WITH YOU IN 100%. SHAME ON MERCEDES. 😊
He is moaning about nothing 😂
Cla45s will hv the porsche like dial on the steering wheel to chg to sports mode… as for the rest , there is no difference btw sports n comfort mode as it is under power😂
I have a 2019 CLA… can’t say I’m enjoying the ownership experience… and as for the Brand/dealership experience… it is woeful…
In my opinion, Mercedes is not a premium brand.
It’s a mediocre brand charging very high fees for a very poor ownership experience…
Just had this car. It's uncomfortable to sit in. Selling it
Totally not for hyperhydrosis people like me
Down grade in quality, with a higher cost... greed, greed, nothing more.
Hate the round design of new mercedeses, looks so outdated
Do not get the 180 1.3 Renault version what a dog of a engine in automatic, had one as I company car it was so bad I gave it back and purchased a car
Let’s be honest merc needs to remove the a class sedan and SUV (hurts brand value) and keep more V8s
Yeah they’re going big into electric so good luck with that 😂
It’s ugly now I prefer the old lights
theres no facelift here 😂 those headlights and taillights weve seen them already. those touch controls are like moving from a PS5 Pro into a PS3. old sings better. the buttons feel like tools for a pro driver
Already disagreeing within the first 20 seconds. The previous CLA front is ugly af
My 2016 looks heaps better
Keep telling yourself that
That is not great the facelift is rubbish best get a 2022
Better or worse? your video is all about personal preference not actually whether something is better or not.

Love more towards cla w117 because of its butterfly rear light
Disagree, I own the previous model and I would rather have less buttons in the middle and keep it simple
I have a 22 plate cla.35 amg....the buttons are better than that...im not to worried its an e.class for me in 2yrs gazz..merc fan😊
LOOKS THE EXACT SAME AS IT DID 5 YEARS AGO
Fit brita chinese lovers
I just don’t see the appeal in these. From the Renault engines to the dowdy styling. People are paying £40k for these things. It’s probably worth half of that and the rest of it is just badge tax. I’d be happier with a Golf or Ford fiesta.
