Watching Dalton going from hating the car to falling in love with it is always entertaining. I have a feeling that the Ranchero is going to be a daily driver for a while
Vacation from hell? But just look at the memories you have for a lifetime and all those deals from Summit! Great video. Can't wait to see the Ranchero all dolled up. That bed liner as a vinyl top is an absolute keeper of a hack.
Happened to me once. Went out in the morning, vehicle.was gone. I thought holy sh, well some unlucky moron has a surprise coming. Found it maybe an hour later, abandoned in an apartment complex a block down the street. BECAUSE, the clutch and throwout bushing were completely smoked. I knew it, they didnt. 😂😂😂😂😂
@@SpaceInTime1885 Back in the day my first 3 cars were $300 beaters....I made them run reliably, but God were they ugly. Left the keys in them all the time everywhere I went hoping they would disappear...never happened
Like when David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan had the Rotary 455 swapped truck (the Mazdarati) stolen...lmao They kinda built another one...and I say that very loosely.
Please tell Dr. Lee how much we like his participation, this was a great collaboration. I truly enjoy watching what people will do to their cars to keep them on the road especially since the invention of the Zip Tie.
I mean you probably got kinda lucky with that Ranchero but with a little work you cruised home and you'll get a lot more miles from it for less than a lot of peoples monthly car payment. Jess rocks. Awesome to have someone that's down for adventures. Dr Lee is a real good guy. Just what an awesome guy!
Dr. Lee seems like the genuine article kinda guy...I can see why you like the man; you two seem to have the same sense of humor... thanks for sharing your adventures!

I vote for the North Shore (like Duluth MN) its beautiful and definitely won’t be too hot. Plus you could bring any of your current cars and sell them at a premium because every car up here is a rusty mess!
Thanks for introducing Dr. Lees channel. I have watched every one of your videos now, junkyard digs, buffs garage, sleeper dude, all the main guys who are just regular guys like me getting some projects going and having fun. Some TH-camrs use way too many sponsored parts that I could never afford. I like seeing the guys get stuff running on a budget and using what they have available. And by the way, you got a real keeper with Jess there. It’s definitely hard to find a woman into everything you do
Ive said it before i take for granted living within a mile from my house to the wonderful north east coastline and being able to see the sea from my bedroom window! I love going down early morning with a hot coffee and watching the sunrise! Its so idyllic... Jesse's face and the 'i love you' gave me a massive grin!
This type of video is why I love your channel. Road trips in exceptionally questionable cars bought on Marketplace that require visiting every AutoZone across America. Shout out to Dr Lee for being such a great human being and I’m glad Mrs Pole Barn got to see the “ocean” haha. You know I hear there’s a remedy for jellyfish stings. It requires multiple Busch Latte’s first though👊
52:16 got me laugh real hard 😂. I came here for the content, stayed for Daltons humor, then the content 😁. Pls don't ever change. You and your family are a great team 💪
I grew up in a 351 Cleveland household. Dad drove a 73 Ranchero, mom drove a 73 Gran Torino Sport and we had a pair of 71 Mustangs, a Mach 1 and and a Boss 351. I miss those days.
Just love that Dr. Lee is wearing a Junkyard Digs T-shirt ❤ - Great to see how you guys help each other out. The first time I got aware of your channel, was when Chris from NNKH stopped at your garage for help. Greetings from Denmark 👌😃
Great video, that old rancerho did well on that haul!! Also....The motor is a 351 cleveland 2 barrel(small port cleveland)....Thats why the spark plugs didn't work. Windsors of that era still took the 13/16" plugs and the clevelands took the 5/8" plugs
I came to comment similar. Cleveland engines have the thermostat on the block, while Windsor engines have the thermostat on the intake manifold. A note for Dalton on thermostats: The 351 Cleveland uses the same thermostat as the 400 in your Gran Torino. It's a special thermostat similar to the Robertshaw 333, but with a special hat on the bottom that closes off a passage when the thermostat opens. You can get the correct one from TMeyer online. Not having that hat will mess up the cooling. Also, under the thermostat in a 351C is a brass round plate. DO NOT REMOVE IT or your thermostat won't do what you want it to do. The 400 has it built into the block instead.
You both look 10 years younger. YES! More of FUN in the bush or the lake or the river , mix it up , use the cars you got to full potential , maybe live in an area with beach/forrest/lake/river/mountain!
Dalton has a very Kowalski like demeanor ( Vanishing Point ). The anti-hero for out time. Driving sequences go really well with Iron Maiden "Wasted years". As the song says "these really are our golden years". Great adventure , thanks for bringing us along
Ford had a shifter cable problem back in the eigthies. I worked on all makes and I remember the late 70s cars and trucks popping into reverse while idling. Cure was change the cable.. Place the jack under the lower control arms to check the ball joints. Jacking from the center does not unload the spring pressure. Bee safe you two!!! Love your videos! Dr. Lee is awesome!
A '73 Ranchero with a 302, I'd say you "Done Good" boys and girls. Great little engine. Dalton, as I'm sure you are aware, Jess is a jewel. Not afraid to work, and about as easy going as could possibly be imagined. Only about 3/4 thru the vid, but you guys coupled with Dr. Lee have made it an enjoyable trip. Keep 'em comin Bud!

WOAI in San Antonio KLBJ in Austin WBAP in Dallas WOW in OKC. You didn't comment on fuel prices or all the annoying golf carts. We do love our Water Burger! Yeah that's what we call them.
This week started off good and then on Tuesday disaster struck as we found out my dad had a bad stroke while sleeping. We rushed him to the hospital and he’s doing really good considering the blood clot went to his brain. Walking and talking by the second day and eating solid food. He remembers all of us and the dog too, but it did affect his mind, he’s a bit scrambled and it hurts to see him messed up like that. He’s not gonna be at my high school graduation in person but my mom’s sister will use FaceTime to let him see it. Which is pretty good. If any of you pray, can you say one for him. I’m gonna try to enjoy this video dalton. I’ve been stressed a lot and this could take my mind off of it
Sorry to hear about your dad. Stay positive, that he remembers everyone is great and as it's only been a few days he needs time to heal. Healthcare professionals are amazed, on the daily, by the brain's ability to recover from this type of trauma. My father had 2 cerebral aneurysm's rupture, years apart, and it took time for his brain to sort things out and "unscramble".
I really like all of these old early 70''s Fords that you are so drawn to. This Ranchero looks like a really good base for a good restore. Solid body and nice interior. I like the instrument clusters , arrangement in these old Fords. Plenty of opportunity to upgrade with a nice real tach and instrument cluster as well. Lots of area available as well for other upgrades on the dash areas as well. Great choice in tires and rims. A good paint job would not cost too much either. You just have to love all the room that you have in the seat , interior on these. Hmmmm, food for thought. Very good looking car.
So hands down this is some of the best content you put out. The video has great flow. The music combination with the time lapse. It had me enthralled and enjoying the entire video so thank you.

Love the caruck! I’d leave the patina, not because I like it but because I’m cheap, broke and have no idea how to paint a car. As long as it runs well, I’m happy. Can’t wait to see it get your attention though, it’s going to be amazing.
Well, THAT was a total kick! Enjoyed wrenching wichya, and enjoyed "riding" wichya the rest of the way to the beach and back home! Great, fun video! Love you guys!!! A+++++

I've been to the beach many many times but sweet Little Jess's excitement is most definitely contagious!!! Thank y'all for sharing this adventure....by the way Dr. Lee freaking Rocks!!!
Oh wow. !!! I'll still really miss the wagon, but a ranchero is cool too. Jess, you're the most trusting woman I've ever seen. Granted Dalton would die trying to make sure you got back home. Thanks for taking us along. The grand kids loved the ship and the huge kites. Awesome... Again.
I'm wondering how the floors rot out down there but the quarters and fenders are pristine. Like in the south and Florida they rot top down,up north it's from the bottom up depending on how much salt in the winter on the roads and forget about anything near the ocean surviving for ten minutes! Looks like you have a relative down thar Texas way who works on cars just the way you do!🤣 I huh 302? Um looks like a Cleveland to me. Hmm, thought Windsor and 302 have water neck in the intake Cleveland is in the block horizontal. Funny I've had a couple few 302s and a Cleveland, love that and worked on Windsors, vertical water neck in the intake, hmm. Oh well. Dr. Lee is great!👍 I'm hungry. Thanks again guys! I'm wondering if you can use ferd pick em up truck rotors and brake parts on that,be funny if it does, like the wagon master and the rustangs being the same. I thought that wagon looked cool, reminds me of the 59&60 Impalas batwing rear fenders and fascia sheet metal. Oh well, they come and go.
Hey I just started watching your videos and seeing you on junkyard digs..and I really injoy your videos and like that your family helps you with your projects..I am big fan and watching 2 or 3 a day...
Dude I can’t get enough of ur channel, found you about a month ago and have binged watched ever since. Keep it up man! Ever in Kentucky would be an honor to meet ya.
Hang on to that woman with both hands and anything else you can use. She one of a kind most women I know would be complaining every step of the way.i wish you both nothing but the best.😀
Awesome video. That Ranchero isn’t half bad 👍🏻 it might be the gulf, yet technically still part of the ocean. I must admit that a Jess being that happy to make a torturous trip, helping along the way, and keeping such a positive attitude is rare. She’s a keeper ❤️
Love Jess! Bless her for getting to see the ocean and beach. Being in GA the beach has been a part of my life since a toddler. We forget some people in The Midwest have never seen the ocean or mtns! You guys are so cool with each other! Great job again!
Your content is entertaining. It brings me back to the 80's. My dad and I would do similar things. Please keep the videos coming! (The family dynamic is what does it...)
i am telling one from one car guy to another.. any girl having as much fun as you.. while in a pile of crap that has no business still being called a (car)... shes a blessing from god never let her go
Found your channel a few days ago dude. Absolutely love your videos, especially the fact that they are start to finish, long videos. Keep em coming. Much respect from Scotland 👍🏻🏴👌🏻🤘🏻
Say what you will about Ford and hard to get parts for, those 351's and 302's were damn near bullet proof. Dalton you best keep Jess around, yall go together like peas n carrots. Great chemistry and sense of humor on the both of ya. Great video! Oh and Dr. Lee, man what a stand up guy.
For your warped carburetor, there's always the good old method of hillbilly machining. For hillbilly machining you would take a mostly flat workbench and glue a piece of sandpaper to the top of it, then you can rub carburetors/accelerator pumps/anything else that you need to be flat and isn't needing to be within stupidly tight tolerances. It'll sand things and get it a heck of a lot closer to what you need it to be.
After living in Beaumont, Texas for 6 years, I know what you were going through when traveling across the state, especially on I-10! Our many trips to San Antonio encountered many, heavy rain storms, and Houston around I-10 was almost always flooded. Would love to see the Ranchero restored like that old Black Chevy truck you did! Again, more road trips, love them.
Dalton , Jess and yourself remind me and of my wife and I . We have the same type of relationship. You guys complement each other so well. She supports your shenanigans and that’s all you can ask for out of life my friend . Great work as always and look forward to the next one !
Fun fact! Back in 1988 Brake rotors for a 1973 Mach1 were almost $400 a piece, because it was one piece with the hubs! I went to a junk yard, and picked up 2 1973 Ranchero hubs, new bearings and races to convert them, and picked up rotors for $50. With new brake pads, it cost me $200! Surprisingly, the calipers and hoses were in great shape!
Great video. Like the cross country adventure and the collab with Dr Lee. He is such a great guy to let you invade his shop and he helped out. Now you know why Demo Matt is so liked. Good upbringing.
And.. may I add… with upmost fear of upsetting VGG FANS….. POLE BARN IS THE REAL CAR GUYS/GALS GARAGE! No BS!… NO BIGGING IT UP.. NO ‘ I am doing well, LOOK AT ME…. No ‘ I got tv shows….. JUST ‘ PURE, HEARTFELT, HONEST, FUN! . ‘MAGNIFICENT!’ 👏👏👏
18:45 I see Mr. Murphy himself of Murphy's Law told you two right where to sit and stand for that compressed air-assisted demonstration of debris displacement
Looking back on this trip, and the wagon is gone now, I'm sure you had a good time with your wife on that adventure. I sure enjoyed watching this again. :)
Someone like ME! I don't have time for the body work of a roof.....AND I WANNA DO SOMETHING UNIQUE WITH A FORD RANCHERO 500 WITH THUNDERBIRD DOG DISH CAPS!!!!
The Battleship New Jersey (ported in Camden, NJ by the aquarium) is a pretty awesome ship to tour as well.. It's basically all a bunch of Navy veterans who hang out in the different interesting locations of the boat.. really great way to spend a day..
Might’ve been a rough trip, but you did amazing Dalton, loved seeing Jess have a great time too! I loved your build and road trip plan, I know it was rough, but that wagon was rad. Keep up the amazing work, love your content, and I’m excited to see more!
Both parts 1 and 2, are some of your best work! Up there with The Holey Goat road trip with JD. You and Jess are natural performers and its no wonder you have as many subs. Loved the wagon but completely understand wanting to live on your adventure. Keep up the great content and God bless my friend.
This was genuinely actually heartwarming, the pure joy Jess gives off - what a great guy, honestly. Heartening to see that people having genuine care and support for eachother isnt a thing of the past. The ranchero will surely be a staple now, like the holey goat, because what a reliable girl. Fix that starter issue and the the fuel tank leaks, throw a new cap on the radiator, hell even give the paint some attentuon and she could be a proper lil going ta town ctruck!

Oh well. Dr. Lee is great!👍
I'm hungry.
Looks like a lot of fun. Me and my wife love car rides. Going no where. You to are a great pair. Be safe.
Hey I just started watching your videos and seeing you on junkyard digs..and I really injoy your videos and like that your family helps you with your projects..I am big fan and watching 2 or 3 a day...
Thanks man!
Oh YES, it's a sh*tty rainy grey bank holiday here in the UK, and it just got better.
Can't beat a bit of PBG here in Blighty fella.
@@BeachDogs.Jayhall Too right mate!
Damn right
Ever known a Bank Holiday that wasn't ?
@@mrb.5610 It hasn't got any better! 😔
Good stuff Dalton. That Ranchero definitely deserves some love..
Part 2 was excellent! The Ranchero is really good. The concourse quality restoration was an additional bonus 👌🏻🤘🏻
“Just kick that floor mat over the hole in the floor”
She kicks it “ I don’t know what you’re talking about out”
Dalton that girl is a keeper !
(The family dynamic is what does it...)
i am telling one from one car guy to another.. any girl having as much fun as you.. while in a pile of crap that has no business still being called a (car)... shes a blessing from god never let her go
You comment like a widower
What an asset Jess is to the channel. And she can put up with you😂. Loved the trip so thanks for taking us along. Excellent vidro
Dr. Lee.....always helping fix the strays! Lol....kidding! Great video! Dr. Lee is a National Treasure!
👍👍👍👍
Found your channel a few days ago dude. Absolutely love your videos, especially the fact that they are start to finish, long videos.
Keep em coming. Much respect from Scotland 👍🏻🏴👌🏻🤘🏻
Dr. Lee is a wonderful guy......someone I'd love to sit and have a beer with after riding a full day on our Adventure bikes...
This is better than any realityshow on tv. Still, I can't believe what kind of junk you are allowed to drive. Keep up the good content.
Pane of glass has never failed me
That little Ranchero has definitely earned a restoration and likely a permanent place in the PBG fleet. What a great car!
Those wheels and tires are really nice looking!! Jess is quite the trooper with all the wonderful shenanigans!!
Oh yeah PBG!!!!👍👍
Happy memorial day to all the heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm glad your wife joined the channel, she's a good sport going along with your madness. And she's funny too
Dalton , Jess and yourself remind me and of my wife and I . We have the same type of relationship. You guys complement each other so well. She supports your shenanigans and that’s all you can ask for out of life my friend . Great work as always and look forward to the next one !
From way down under really enjoyed that VFH content. Glad you decided to keep the Ranchero, it deserves a good home.
The Ranchero is a keeper!!! Show her some love for getting you two home safely!!
Yeah, the Ford 70s columshifts falling in to reverse by themselves are well known. A working parkingbrake is a must-have
You might recall the recall, which was just a warning sticker you put on the dash or wherever.
👍👍
I hope you two never change like so many channels have. Your dry humor, your attitude towards the cars and challenges they give you is wonderful.
Dalton and Jess make such a great team! You two remind me of my wife and I, and that makes me happy. Keep up the amazing work!
“Got to pick up some spare belts” jumps to shot of box filled with belts for the wagon 😂😂😂😂
Right?!?! That was awesome.😅
Dr lee was one great texan for helping you guys fix the ford long live the Ranchero lol 😂
Great video. Like the cross country adventure and the collab with Dr Lee. He is such a great guy to let you invade his shop and he helped out. Now you know why Demo Matt is so liked. Good upbringing.
The expression on Jess's face when she saw the ocean was priceless. Great Job.👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
That car deserves the full treatment. Love that body style.
And.. may I add… with upmost fear of upsetting VGG FANS….. POLE BARN IS THE REAL CAR GUYS/GALS GARAGE! No BS!… NO BIGGING IT UP.. NO ‘ I am doing well, LOOK AT ME…. No ‘ I got tv shows….. JUST ‘ PURE, HEARTFELT, HONEST, FUN! . ‘MAGNIFICENT!’ 👏👏👏
Thanks buddy.
As to only offend commies, Independence paved the way
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
How dare people be successful 😂
18:45 I see Mr. Murphy himself of Murphy's Law told you two right where to sit and stand for that compressed air-assisted demonstration of debris displacement
Looking back on this trip, and the wagon is gone now, I'm sure you had a good time with your wife on that adventure. I sure enjoyed watching this again. :)
Hello Dalton, JD, and Jess. Thanks for sharing yet again another fine video!
Can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve!
YUM
Arms
Ranchero 500 with a top-of-the-line who the hell would put a vinyl top on ranchero self-healing ranchero
Really enjoyed the 2 part video im 54 i remember making many trips like this in those old vehicles the trips always had more memories
