  • Inspired by the new movie, the wave of historical Disney costumes, and a big pile of stripy fabric, I make a historically accurate (mostly) regency gown with impact!
    Tracing paper: www.amazon.co....
    (90gsm Sovereign Natural Tracing Paper)
Look out for a followup video on making the sleeves in a week or two.
    Music: Epidemic Sound.

Brilliant stripe matching down the center front!! Especially between the bodice and the skirt. Fabulous!! And I loved the Dalmatian slippers at the end. Gave me a good giggle.

The sleeve-slit floofs are so clever! This is fun!
Also the stripe mirroring tracing hack is super helpful! You always have such great tips.

The clear pattern paper for pattern matching is BRILLIANT! And one of those super simple tips that makes you go "Why the h#!! didn't I think of that?!?" The part about the quilted hem being separately made as a tube and added on was also brilliant. It looks FABULOUS!!! It's a shame you were only able to locate 2 Dalmatians, and small ones at that.

Your work is beautiful. It seems to be the answer to questions I have long had about a dress on the original Twilight Zone series. There is 1 episode with the most creative use of stripes on a dress I have ever seen. The woman was rail thin, of course, and they made the dress very form fitting, yet with all the stripes going this way & that. Very symmetrically. I was just stunned by the expertise of sewing of the era. This video helps me understand a bit about how it was made.

Very cool! I love how you made the triangle trim, so smart and logical to sew before cutting out. And the sleeves are so cute!

I love the slashed and puffed detail on the sleeves! I also like how your music choices are the opposite of twee.

Unfortunately, now I have a lot of catching up to do on your previous videos... Not that it will be a hardship - I shall sit in my Wimbledon sewing room and have them on as company while I sew.
