What 8f the Cleganes also have Strong blood from the Riverlands which aren't too far from where they live. Both Gregor and Sandor resemble Strongs. Maybe Gregor having the alias Strong is a clue.
That was actually discussed in the original essay i wrote years ago. What i did with this video is i focused on just one character. However the original essay looked at several possibilities!!!
That's really interesting. Sandor is described as having a long face and grey eyes, like the Starks. The Clegane sigil has three hounds and the Starks' is a direwolf, which simbolicaly is the same. In Joe Magician's video about the Strongs, he proposed that they could be related to the Starks, but originated in the Riverlands. If the Clegane's have some Strong blood, then they would also have Stark blood, which ties together with Sandor being the protector of two Stark girls (and be saved by them). They're of the same pack (in a very, very broad sense), and the pack stays together, protects each other.
It could be there's been a theory that the Cleganes are descendents of Dunk for awhile now in the fandom. I also believe Small Paul and Grenn are descendents of Dunk and by extension House Strong. A post about Dunks descendents aminoapps.com/p/aw3tm7
In all three Duncan egg stories so far he's been described as strong and the lady seem to take a liking to him and the Targaryen seem to like him just like they liked his predecessor's

Rohanne asking Dunk how strong she appears reminds me of how the sons of Alicent Hightower mocked the children of Rhaenyra in the feast meant to act as a reconciliation between the greens and the blacks to appease Viserys. I don't remember how it went but i guess after Viserys left, one of them proposed a toast and said "To my strong cousins" or something like that.

When/if this happens Dunk will probably find himself visiting the wall as this is something he has always wanted to do. Brothers of the nights watch take their shield and arms with them so lucamore probably took his with him when he was sent to the wall. so i suspect Dunk may be in need of a shield once again in the next installment and the shield might just be blazoned with the sigil of house strong.

Wait a minute, the shield took Brienne back to the cool dark of her father's armory. So she wouldn't have been admiring the shield in the armory at Harrenhal, it would have been the armory at Tarth. Am I missing something?
Yes! So the shield Brienne admired as a child was inside her father's armory. As an adult she had a completely different shield painted and that shield came from a Harrenhal armory. She wanted to go incognito so she chose the device she remembered seeing as a child. Hope this helps!

As you go through Westeros looking for closeted Strongs, you may want to consider House Clegane. It's just now occurring to me may not be totally fabricated BS that Zombie Mountain was named "Robert Strong." I saw an interview with Kristian Nairn where he theorized that Hodor might be a secret Clegane, "You'd have your Gregor, your Sandor, and your Hodor." He goes on to say that chucked the theory when he found out that Hodor's real name was Walder. "Lucamore" lines up well with Kristian's thinking though.
I wonder what happened to Alys Rivers (from House Strong) and her supposed "dragon" born from her relationship with Aemond Targaryen? Harrenhal is a "cursed" place and is so close to the God's Eye as well. Aemond Targaryen & Daemon Targaryen both died @ the God's Eye fighting each other w/ their dragons. If Alys Rivers had a child and he had any descendants I wonder who they could be? It is rumored that Aemond's mother, Alicent Hightower, was the daughter of Saera Targaryen. There is an Alyssa Blackwood who married Cregan Stark and had a daughter named Alys... The timeline matches and the Blackwoods would be only other real First Men blooded family that still worshipped/worships the old gods. Alyssa Blackwood brought peace to the realm too in her marriage to Cregan Stark as he was Hand of the King and pardoned Corlys Velaryon. In a way this echos the sentiments that Jon Snow talks about in not holding one accountable for their ancestors (or parents). Just lots of pattern here coupled by a lot of mystery as well. I do not know if any of this makes sense to you and/or can help you in any way with content? Anyway, you put out some great content and very insightful videos.
@@TheDreamWyrm It's a cliffhanger that we will probably find out in part 2 of Fire & Blood... or in season 4 (?) of the show, whichever comes out first.
Alicent was not of Targaryen descent. I don't know where you are getting that from. In The Princess and the Queen it was clearly stated that Rhaenyra had more Targaryen blood than Aegon II. That wouldn't be the case if Alicent was also half-Targaryen like Aemma Arryn. I don't underdtwhat Black Aly Blackwood has to do with the House Strong or Alys Rivers, other than they lived at the same time in the Riverlands, but were on different sides, and Alys is a very common name throughout Westeros.
Hi, first time to notice your channel. Really liked your compelling analysis of Dunk's possible origins. Also, though I'm Irish, I never knew that Donncha(dh) is the equivalent name for Duncan! Btw the pronunciation is : the d is like the th in "the", onn is pronounced un, the ch is like a Spanish j and the d is made silent because of the h! 😀
Ha! Yeah Im not very hip with Gaelic pronunciation, you are going to have to forgive me for butchering that. Thanks so much for watching and welcome to The Disputed Lands!!
I recently watched history of westoros live stream and i also believe that duncan was a strong. i also think strong blood runs in the baratheons (Large,Lusty)
Absolutely! I actually speculated on the Baratheons having Strong blood in my original essay I did a few years back!! Great job and be sure to check out Joe Magician's video because in his video he absolutely discussed possible Baratheon ties as well! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
💠💠 Song about JENNY (MUDD) of Oldstone, who married Duncan Targaryen. High in the halls of the kings who are gone. Jenny would dance with her ghosts. The ones she had lost and the ones she had found, And the ones who had loved her the most [Verse 1] The ones who'd been gone for so very long She couldn't remember their names. They spun her around on the damp old stone, Spun away all her sorrow and pain. And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave. Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave [Verse 2] They danced through the day and into the night. Through the snow that swept through the hall. From winter to summer and winter again, Til the walls did crumble and fall. [Chorus] And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave, Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave. And she never wanted to leave. [Outro] High in the halls of the kings who are gone. Jenny would dance with her ghosts. The ones she had lost and the ones she had found, And the ones who had loved her the most.
I always figured Hodor was one of sir Duncan's children. Bran had the vision of a tall man kissing a short woman. The short woman being old Nan. It would explain George saying he left a hint, Hodor's strength and height, add that with Dunk and Egg going to Winterfell and I think it's a strong case. I suppose Dunk may have had an affair with a lady of Tarth but there is little evidence
Amanda had you considered that Arlan of Pennytree's Winged Chalice Sigil could symbolise a secret or protected Bloodline? This would certainly fit with yours & Joe's theory.
I wondered who really named the mountain sir “Robert Strong” 💪🏾 was it Quburn? I wonder if that could link him to the magic of the old gods and the COTF in some way??
Fantastic video! I think it's a given that Brieanne is a decedent of Dunk, since Aegon V betrothed one of his sisters (I'm not sure if it was Rhae or Daella) to Lord Tarth, but it's my understanding the the father of her child was actually Dunk and not Lord Tarth.
Yes that is also the consensus. I really didnt want to discuss the mechanics of their relationship. Its is easier to establish it and move on since that is not the focus... but great observation and i completey agree!! Thanks for watching!!!
If Duncan is one of Brienne's forebearers, than he was not always celibate! But I think it is more likely that he is a long ago uncle, and she's descended from one of Lucamore's brothers, who had legitimate kids whose offspring were able to marry into other noble houses that were from the mid level aristocracy - like Tarth, eventually.
So many clues , once you know what you’re looking for ! Could Marwyn the Mage be a contender ? “Marwyn has a thick neck and a STRONG jaw. He is short and squat with enormous hands, a thick chest and a hard ale-belly. He has white hair coming out of his nose and ears. His nose has been broken more than once and his teeth are stained red.” He’s also got a Clegane connection, with nickname being “ The Mastiff “
Excellent theory! Was it JM who brought up the possibility of house Strong being an offshoot of the Starks? Dunc could be coming full circle when he gets to the North
"How strong do i appear?" Well you definitely don't have the appearance of someone from house Einstein or DaVinci thats for certain. Thought the Red Widow... Lucas Longmore eyed Sir Duncan with much loathing. Longmore imagined that Sir Duncan was probably a robber knight, who stole his sword and shield after murdering its owner. As he contemplated Sir Duncan's guilt & unworthyness he mindlessly ate the boogar he had just mined from the deepest recesses over his large crooked nose. This did not go unnoticed by the red widow. She could barely hide her disgust & decided she better do whatever necessary to get into this new, younger & more handsome knights small clothes. And quickly lest she have to marry Lucas the Mucas Longmore... she didnt care how long he was.
Holy crap, I got a like from the video creator so long after making the comment that I didn't even remember making it & made myself laugh. Dayum I'm funny!
At this point its hard to say. They are an andal family and not particularly large or lusty. This may be a fertility thing going back tobtheir marriages with the first men and their connections to house gardener.
So, the guy with 3 wives' families were named Rivers, Water and... i forget. So, the 3 Eyed Raven is a strong. So, since everybody's related to everybody else, they need to stop looking down their noses at Targ incest.
What about Hodor/Duncan the Tall? I always liked this theory that Hodor a descendent of Duncan the tall. It could be possible (when they visited Winterfell) and Bran had a vision of a woman (old Nan) and a tall man...
@@TheDisputedLands the wife of Borros Baratheon might have cheated on him and the son born after he died in battle in the Dance of the Dragons might be a child of one of the Strong descendants
Wonderful theory, I find it quite exciting. I'm wondering if you think there will be any appreciable end-game payoff, though? I think so far it's theorized that Brienne, Small Paul, and the Cleganes are descendants of Dunk, and if this pans out, of House Strong, but (of those who are still alive, at least), I don't think them learning they're descents of an extinguished house will have the same emotional impact of if/when Jon learns his? Or how the lineage would matter when considering the battles during the second Long Night? Seems like a lot of groundwork to lay for something that will be satisfying for only the readers.
I don't think that Dunk if other descendants will learn this information. If you have watched the livestream in Joe Magician's channel we discussed this very thing. Lucamore accused by Jaehaerys of being an "oathbreaker" and it was said he was "not a true knight". Jaehaerys also made a comment asking Lucamore how he couldever be expected to maintain his vow to defend the king with his life when he cant even keep his other vows. Well if you recall when Brienne is sent on her way with the Harrenhal shield she is also given a sword... that sword is called "oathkeeper" and she herself is the embodiment of that and the embodiment of a "true knight". Dunk similarily is "a knight who remembered his vows" and is often called a "true knight". And just as Lucamore was accused of not being able to uphold his vow to defend the king with his life... Dunk dies while keeping his oath to defend the king with his life. GRRM is setting up commentary on how titles (especially knighthood) and blood do not define you as a person. The same commentary is done with the Cleganes where we see these comparisons to the brothers one is a knight and a monster, the other is not a knight who has quite a few things to say about knighthood. Check out the livestream if you get a chance and great question!
Hmm. I am a year late, and Rona 19 has taken much of what we believed to be rocks and toss them like confetti. Said to find this island of knowledge abandoned. But I know you have a job to do. Whether it be your child/ nursing... You can only help the ones you actually care for. Thanks.
💠💠 In A Dance with Dragons, Barristan Selmy tells Daenerys: “The Prince of Dragonflies loved Jenny of Oldstones so much he cast aside a crown, and Westeros paid the price in corpses.” Duncan, Jenny (probably), and a number of other famous names from Westerosi lore died in a huge fire called the Tragedy of Summerhall that is believed to be the result of Duncan’s father, King Aegon V, attempting to bring back dragons to Westeros. It was there, during the fire, that Daenerys’s brother and Jon’s father, Prince Rhaegar was born. Jenny brought a clairvoyant friend of hers, who is probably the ghost of High Heart, to court with her and the woman predicted that the Prince That Was Promised (you know, the Westerosi messiah a.k.a. Azor Ahai) would come from the line of Aerys (the Mad King) and Rhaella Targaryen-which is why they were forced to marry. That’s Dany’s parents and Jon’s grandparents which is why both of them are such good candidates to be the saviors of Westeros.

I can't wait to see how this will unfold in the new show
I was just thinking about that today. Like, what happened to Aemond's child?
Outstanding collaboration!
I came here after watching joes strongs video..great work.totally smashed it.
Hey thanks!!!
Bruhhhh!! He left “”Pretty, Strong” clues in the last book… Brienne the Beauty. Descendant of Strong… genius
Cheers!
Yes on the durrandon side most likely
This is one of the best theorys ive heard in ages
I could listen to you talk all day 😊😍
Very good! I love the crossover video with Joe Magician! These two videos were excellent!
Thank you so much!
💠💠 Song about JENNY (MUDD) of Oldstone, who married Duncan Targaryen.
High in the halls of the kings who are gone. Jenny would dance with her ghosts. The ones she had lost and the ones she had found, And the ones who had loved her the most
[Verse 1]
The ones who'd been gone for so very long
She couldn't remember their names. They spun her around on the damp old stone, Spun away all her sorrow and pain.
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave. Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave
[Verse 2]
They danced through the day and into the night. Through the snow that swept through the hall. From winter to summer and winter again, Til the walls did crumble and fall.
[Chorus]
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave, Never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave.
And she never wanted to leave.
[Outro]
High in the halls of the kings who are gone.
Jenny would dance with her ghosts. The ones she had lost and the ones she had found, And the ones who had loved her the most.
Hey thank you for sharing, definitely check out my video on Tristifer Mudd and the battle of Highheart. Thank you for watching!
It lessens Dunk's story to make his lineage significant.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I could listen to you all day, keep up the awesome work!
Why thank you ser!!!
Great video!
These are always so well thought-out. Thank you.
Thank you John! Glad you got the chance to watch it!
This was excellent!
Thanks so much!
Could have slept with a number of women before joining the Kingsguard
He's Dunk's great grandson
Hodor could only be his great-grandson in the books, grandson in the show. He'd have to be 80 to be his son.
Amanda had you considered that Arlan of Pennytree's Winged Chalice Sigil could symbolise a secret or protected Bloodline? This would certainly fit with yours & Joe's theory.
No i hadnt considered that. Id love to know more!!
@@TheDisputedLands I'll see if I can put some notes together & DM you 😊
Excellent video! Great connections, informative and uber-interesting as always!
Thank you ser!
👍🏻👍🏻 Wonderful video. Now I want to reread all of “Dunk & Egg” on top of everything else :)
Sandor Clegane also made clear his non vow about lands and a wife when joining the Kingsguard....
I wondered who really named the mountain sir “Robert Strong” 💪🏾 was it Quburn? I wonder if that could link him to the magic of the old gods and the COTF in some way??
Really entertaining stuff. Thanks
thats at least 5 kids each, and then a sixth on the first
Dam Son
Finally a channel dedicated to asoiaf theories that I like as much as if not better than Preston Jacobs. If you can't tell that's high praise ♥️
Hey thank you!
@@TheDisputedLands alt shiftx got nothing going n you. Keep it up.😊
23:09 one of the reasons i subscribed
Yo, sick theory! I never had thought of that before but it's one I'll subscribe too!
Thanks for watching!
@@TheDisputedLands Thanks for replying, I'm a big fan! Keep up the good work!
Great stuff. Thank you.
That was a wonderful video, thank you.
His nose has been broken more than once and his teeth are stained red.”
He’s also got a Clegane connection, with nickname being “ The Mastiff “
So that makes Dunk a Stark descendant as well :D
Please keep this up! You are awesome
House Strong. How Strong. Very Strong, apparently
Very, very Strong indeed!
You are awesome and every video is great. Make more please lol 🇺🇸For your fellow veterans!!!
Hey thanks!! I promise there will be more!!!
STRONG.
Know who else was strong? Hodor. His name was Will though. IMO he was a Wyl. Wyl of Wyl though . I prob am spelling it wrong. Dornish house.
Sorry, still listening
Found you through Robert, very good content
The seed is Strong
Very Strong!
Thanks for watching!
Sir Duncan is so underrated
The first time Dunk meets Baelor Breakspear, Baelor describes Dunk as “strong as an orox” hope that’s not a reach
Excellent theory!
Was it JM who brought up the possibility of house Strong being an offshoot of the Starks?
Dunc could be coming full circle when he gets to the North
Now that's a damn good theory
Such a good video, thank you Amanda! Hugs & sunshine☀️ N
Love seeing your comments!! Thanks sunshine!
@@TheDisputedLands aww..this warms my heart 💕💕💕🤗
Every comment literally having Strong in it is 🔥
Is there a connection to the Tyrell words Growing Strong?
At this point its hard to say. They are an andal family and not particularly large or lusty. This may be a fertility thing going back tobtheir marriages with the first men and their connections to house gardener.
So, the guy with 3 wives' families were named Rivers, Water and... i forget. So, the 3 Eyed Raven is a strong. So, since everybody's related to everybody else, they need to stop looking down their noses at Targ incest.
@6:39 Ser Guyle the Cunning... I wonder if he knows Ser Tallad the Tall.
What about Hodor/Duncan the Tall?
I always liked this theory that Hodor a descendent of Duncan the tall. It could be possible (when they visited Winterfell) and Bran had a vision of a woman (old Nan) and a tall man...
Yes, I do believe Hodor is another descendant.

exactly!
@@TheDisputedLands the wife of Borros Baratheon might have cheated on him and the son born after he died in battle in the Dance of the Dragons might be a child of one of the Strong descendants
I LOVE y'alls content!
Glad to hear it!!!
