Great information , I hope this is what I need . I have an old tiller , B& S engine , wants to backfire through the carb and won't stay running . It will start but won't run long . I think it's still a good machine , made back in the 1960" s . Thank you for the tip 😊

Alot of the new push mowers and riding mowers are self adjusting self priming etc I don't know what you are trying to get going.But ill advise you if I can
My first suggestion would most definitely be to remove your airfilter put it back together and fire it up if your problem is gone replace your air filter
Hey man thanks for the video, I have a question about the R1000 lawnmower. What is does is bog down when I put the blade down. I have a new carberator, plug and filter but it's still doing this. What could be causing this?
My ride mower was crancking but not running so I replaced the carburator and spark plug (it was very dirty). It now kicks on if i spray a little bit of starter fluid into the carburator and it kicks on. I followed your advise in the video and was able to ajust the 2 screws but the moment i change the throttle from idle to high throttle it stalls back out. Any advice? Do i need to keep adjusting the screws till it stops stalling in the high throttle?

I have a problem of wich the engine won't run without choke, I'm not too good with tuning carburetors, but the engine sort of suffocated after a bit of running, i always stay full throttle and full choke but it still suffocates, yet I dont know if its too much fuel or not enough, but I noticed that sometimes it backfires when I turn it off, what does it mean what do I have to do exactly??

The carburetor that I have on my murray 115-38 mower only have one adjustment screw (speed screw). So how you adjust the fuel/ air mixer on this particular carburetor?
@johnblair6505 I would check the obvious ie, spark plug, fuel line, even check inside the gas tank. oil level and air filter. If everything checks out most likely you have an eternal issue in the engine itself.
My riding mower with a B&S engine has a KIPA carb; there doesn't appear to be a mixture screw. There is a screw installed at an angle with a weird shaped "head" and inside the carb body there appears to be a corresponding teeny, tiny hole. Could that be a mixture screw? Also, the carb came with a small plastic piece that looks like it MIGHT fit over the latter screw. Suggestions or advice, please.

My crafstman lt2000 carberator doesn't have a fuel screw it came with a plastic adjuster piece that should fit onto it but it doesn't. How do I use this kin to adjust it. I'm a woman just put the carberator on sorry if dumb q. It does have a speed screw.
My fuel air screw has a plastic block on on that prevents the screw from moving more than a few degrees. Basically my mower's ldle is way too high after I cleaned the carb. It's not the ldle screw I've tried that... any ideas?
I ordered a new carburetor, and it came only with one screw. So I sent it back and let them know that I wanted one with two screws. So they sent me one with the two screws, and it sure paid off. Runs great. The ones with one screw Have a built in adjustment for gas adjustment. That's from the note to me from the sales department.

Are you trying to bring the idle down or up,still pay attention to my channel lol,so sounds like your throttle arm is not touching your idle screw which would turn the engine up or down make sure your springs are hooked to the right holes and and your screw is the right size.Also your springs may be just worn
@@joshinthichack3527 well your idle screw should be touching a throttle arm at all times when you turn it out your spring should hold it against it and when you turn it in the screw should push it forward
If your trying to lower it then its definetly the spring that pulls the arm back when you bring the screw out you can run the mower and push that arm manually with your finger to test
In the video you say turn the mixture screw out to lean it out and turn it in to enrich the mixture. Is this not the opposite of how it works? Or is that just how this particular carb works?

@@boondock6055 Even though you didn't adjust the fuel mixture screw you did say out to lean and in to rich which is backward. Turning the mixture in or clockwise closes the size of the "hole" that the fuel goes through cause the fuel to be restricted or lean. Counterclockwise or out opens the size of the "hole" allowing more gas to enter enriching the fuel/air mixture. This is true on any carburetor.

My carb looks very similar to yours, but when tightening the idle mix screw it seems that it restricts the fuel instead of adding more. In your vid I believe it said tightening would increase fuel?

I just got a simplicity 7012. It was running a bit like a dog so I adjusted the carb thinking I’m doing something. I had it running a lot better ,but sometimes I like fiddling around with things I shouldn’t mess with. Now I can’t get it to even start. I don’t know where to even begin with troubleshooting or readjusting the carb in order to get it running again. Yeah I know that was stupid on my part. I guess if anyone can give me a few tips on getting it running again I would highly appreciate it. And I promise not to fiddle with it again. Thanks.
Would think so as well because it's a pin that restricts or opens the channel up more. You can tell when you completely take it out. This video was a godsend tho. Just needed to know about the idle speed and that there were no other adjustments on this carb.
I replaced the mixture screw . How many turns back from tight to start adjustments? It had the factory set one originally but I swapped it with a new from the rebuild kit.
Thanks. All the way out (loose) or all the way in ( seated till stop) and back out 2-3? Was gonna play with it again today. It just doesn't seem to want to respond to any amount of turning. Starting to think the rubber gasket that seals the plastic jet assembly wasn't good in the rebuild kit.
It's been 6 years but i'm struggling with the same thing, do You remember how You fixed it? The rubber gasket in mine we're terrible but I had to use them as they were
So I have the same carburetor and it runs great when the choke is fully closed. As soon as I back the throttle off choke to the "rabbit," it starts to cut off. Any ideas?

How do you boost the power? I put a new carb on and idles good but when its going uphill or blades engage the rpm drops.

Wouldn't one rather adjust the fuel mixture screw with the air cleaner on? The air cleaner does adjust the incoming air. Good video!

For others. Yes. Some screws could make it leaner or richer for turning screw in. Depends on carb.

Could be a few things have you checked your air filter?
My low idle is rich but high idle is good. Only 1 jet so its really hard to tune and is a pain in my butt
