At the age of 19 Mpule won the 1999 Miss Universe beauty pageant. She used her platform to help in the fight against HIV/ AIDs. In 2000, she was appointed as the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for HIV/AIDs in Sub-Saharan Africa.

10:35 - I'd utterly disgusted and disappointed in Julia Morley if this is true. No wonder Nigeria remains to this day the only black African to have won the Miss World title.

Nana Kwaku Julia Morley was not the one running miss world then it was her husband. She took control when he died in the year 2000 that's probably how agbani darego of Nigeria was able to win

Of course it was a disgusting thing to say but back then as Temmie wrote it was not Julia who was running Miss World but her husband Eric. Julia took over in 2000 and, bam! next year we had Nigeria as Miss World
