The answer just came out from Botswana effortlessly, she didn’t even have to think twice to answer it, it’s like the thought has always been in her subconscious mind, it just shows how educated and aware she was despite her young age. From her expression, I think she didn’t even think that she nailed the question, because she just answered from her heart.
I think Bostwana's answer are one of the best answer in MU history

Maybe you didn't watch the 2018 edition of miss universe
Spain and Philippines had leading scores in previous rounds of the semi-final competition. Botswana almost didn't make the cut to the final 5. Right after Botswana openned her mouth and spoke, we knew who would be the new MU. During the final question portion, a dark horse can suddenly swoop in and snatch the prize, at the same time oodsmakers' favorite contenders can lose their touch under this pressure cooker.
Actually if you calculate the average scores heading into the top five, Philippines was in fifth, so it was her that almost missed the five. Heading into the top 3 again Philippines was third, so in reality she was lucky to end up 2nd. South Africa and Venezuela were actually tied for first in the top five average wise. Had it been 2000 when semifinal interviews were cut out, that would have been a different story

@@reprolover11 the fact that the Philippines, who was second in gown and swimsuit, was almost cut out of the top 5 due to her low interview score, made me wonder if that is one of the reasons they drop the semi-finals interview starting next year onward.

I was hoping for a Philippine win but seeing how Botswana used her voice and platform (plus she studied and worked hard) I know the judges chose well..this woman is amazing!
We all have different callings, and I don't think those who chose to purse a career in the entertainment industry are any less compared to those who pursued humanitarian works.

All of their answers are agreeable. But Miss Botswana delivered it in the most confident way. She is very sure with her answer. She deserves the crown. But still, our very own Miss Philippines Miriam Quiambao did a great job.
After listening their answers, I must say, Botswana nailed it. No doubt! Still Kudos to Ms. Miriam.
Although I was rooting for Philippines (because I'm from the Philippines), with Botswana's answer, I knew she would be Miss Universe. Sayang talaga si Miriam. Napangunahan sya ng kaba... :-(

Both Miss Spain and Miss Philippines didn’t do any good in answering the question. Miss Bosnia delivered it well with a smart response delivered with an oozing confidence and great smile, not to mention sincere politeness. Miss Spain could have done it but she treated the question as if she was talking with her peer not to a host of intl pageant. Miss Philippines made a wrong intro, negativity and then circled around resulting to a messy and unclear answer . So the crown went to the right one, she is also the most beautiful and dignified looking amongst the three.
I tried to put a headache and found out that I can hear 85% of what is spoken outside. Botswana answered superbly.
I'm proud to be Motswana after watching this video. Thank you Mpule for making our country proud and famous ♥

Actually Miriam's answer is good it's just that she seem so nervous and it showed. She wasn't able to deliver her answer with confidence. Botswana's answer is good too but the only difference is that she spoke with such confidence and certainty which is probably what gave her the win. Sometimes in a Q&A like this, it's really all about the delivery of your answer. I must say Miss Botswana do deserve the crown that year. Miriam is great too. 💖

That's why she said "that's a very difficult situation to be in". She wasn't enthusiastic with her answer, that it's alright to be pregnant, because it's years and years of that kind of mentality...that it's difficult to be pregnant in the middle of an important life event [Miss Universe reign, for example].
It depends on the judges. I remember back in 1976 and 1984 the winner has an awkward interview but won by beauty alone. Back in 1970s I remember some in top 5 answer a short one liner answer and ended up winner or first runner up because their beauty alone is so impressive
Mpule nailed it. She speaks with confidence and substance. More than that, she has her Miss Universe aura. Though I'm rooting for Miriam, Mpule is much more deserving to win. :))

Mirriam Quiambao is the most babaihan and elegante pure Pinay representative to Miss U. Botsawana deserves the crown for that wonderful answer and I think this is their first.
Now I was kid back then but viewing this on how they responded to that question Spain I love her I thought she was going to nail it, she answered part of it but was incomplete.....Now Philippines I appreciate her answer but got a little nervous, Botswana without a doubt respect that point definitely determined herself to be MISS UNIVERSE 💯🇧🇼

I am very amazed that Misses Philippines and Botswana gave these answers given that they are from still Conservative countries. This is one of the best top 3s of all time.
Philippines knew her answer was going to make her lose. The ideal answer was to FIRE the Miss Universe and this according former Miss Universe winners.

It's like Miss Universe 2000. You can see who's gonna win based on their answer. Botswana answer so smoothly and was the only one who's able to do so here, just like India in MU 2000.
Mpule is even better than Lara Dutta. Lara just speaks much better English but her intelligence is not applied at the right direction.
Beauty counts too. India was a terrific speaker, given her semi-finals interview. If there was a top 6, she would've moved on and maybe even made the final 3. But I doubt she would've won.
One of my favorite if not my favorite final response at the Miss Universe pageant. I also like Lara Dutta's answer so I can't decide definitely.

They have the same answer. The Intelligent answer is actually to say that the Miss Universe should be FIRED! Miriam is super intelligent, she knows the right answer. But decided to get Political. Janine Togonon and Miriam Quiambao as well Charlene Bonin are Batch Mates in the same University. So they all made the same mistake. Miriam and Janine knew what they were suppose to say! GLORIA DIAZ made it very Clear!!!!! The answers of both Miriam and Botswana were not Intelligent! 99% of Filipinos do not understand why that answer was not smart. MIRIAM clearly knew it was the wrong answer.
