Most of the winners for many years now have come from Latin America, the Phillipines and South Africa. The queen with most crowns is Venezuela. Nicaragua winning is not a breakthrough.

Soy nicaragüense y me siento orgulloso de que por primera vez en tantos años; el nombre de mi país resuene ante el mundo de una manera positiva. Nicaragua ha sido un país en el olvido y menospreciado durante mucho tiempo. Y aunque está corona no arregla la situación sociopolítica del país, por lo menos trae un poco de alegría a nuestro sufrido pueblo.
