      Unfortunately not many non-Africans know this.

    I really love it when the different races love each other BUT African people and black people in general need to learn to love themselves and each other better before they turn to mixed relationships. Many black people suffer from self-hate and don't want to be in a relationship with another black person. That is not good. It doesn't make sense to promote mixed relationships when black relationships need to be promoted so much more. But I understand, this documentary is not about black relationships. It's about China-Africa relations.

    • @somewhereinafrica7350
      @somewhereinafrica7350 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      The problem of black love is not only a story of self hate. Black women and men don't know how to love each other because they don't understand the importance of forming a strong family unit. Black women in the US take more pride in being the independent strong woman while the men take pride in how many hoes or side bitches they've got. The priorities are already misplaced and no relationship can thrive on such mentality or strong families built on such ideology. Sometimes the other race comes without all that and makes the relationship thrive. That is why I support black love but don't knock mixed ones.

    • @evemason3456
      @evemason3456 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@somewhereinafrica7350 Yes, but I think that in America, all that lack of understanding of how they should behave or that lack of family values comes from the absence of an understanding of and an appreciation of real culture. There is a strong lack of awareness of their proper cultural role in their own society and a detachment from a responsibility towards their own community. It's the breakdown of cultural values and the lack of awareness of who they are as a people. I think I can safely say that this breakdown has happened over many generations as the result of the ancestors of these black people being forced to be slave workers and after that, there were generations who were excluded from being a part of American society. In short - they were not allowed to continue their African culture or to set up a culture or to restart a decent culture because their identity was about slave work and not about being part of a functioning community. Like I said before, I do love mixed relationships. I think they are a positive thing but not when black people think they are inherently better than being in a relationship with a black person. This causes imbalances. When it happens in a society where there is an abundance of stable, functional, decent and attractive black people, it causes profound confusion.

    • @evemason3456
      @evemason3456 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@somewhereinafrica7350 By the way, I need to say no hate was intended to the Chinese or to you. Just in case you are black and you are in a mixed relationship or if you are the product of a mixed relationship. I think it is a beautiful thing. I don't want to be misunderstood. It's just that black people - in Africa and in the diaspora have got a lot of the legacy of colonialism and the legacy of slavery to overcome in their culture and in their mindset.

    • @somewhereinafrica7350
      @somewhereinafrica7350 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are not misunderstood and thanks for bringing up the cultural difference because Africa is very diverse and the cultural chasm and value system between Africans and African Americans is wider than between Africans and Southeast Asians for instance. Any african who moves to school in the US will tell you that. The wife of one of the couples said she loves african music. Sometimes other races are curious and get immersed in your culture such that they are more similar to you than another black person from the diaspora. It's deeper than self hate or feeling better. It's more culture and values to me and sometimes circumstance.

    I come from Indonesia, and the third generation of Chinese descent. by the time i am writing, we are Indonesian are still in a coronavirus panic, especially the victims and economic slowdown. by the time i am writing, we are entering the sixth day of partial lockdown. what i can learn and i can see after watching the video "Faces of Africa", that China
    really focus on the programmes of social protection, stressing inequalities, the reduction of poverty, vulnerability of the poor and other populations, other nations including those in Africa continent. Therefore I really understand, why the Government of China is imposing the Hong Kong National Security Law, that is actually for the sake of Hongkong people. there is no furious politics in China, and people become pragmatic to look to their bright futures, and another point that they really survive during the pandemic of covid-19

      @@cookie22100. Thank you for pointing this out. I have a theory that labels such as 'black,' 'white,' 'Chinese,' and...... are used purely for the sake of convenience. It is convenient for the purpose of describing a dark-skinned individual as 'black'. It is convenient for the purpose of describing a light-complexioned individual with straight hair as 'white.' Referring to an individual with Mongoloid features as Chinese further helps us to differentiate this individual from the other two. In your comment your spoke of 'black' and 'Chinese'. You're talking apples and oranges here. One is a race and the other is a nationality. The term 'African' can be compared to 'Chinese' ......they're both nationalities. I have a question for you. If two men dressed in western garb, a black and a Chinese (Asian), robbed a bank and you were a witness to this crime and subsequently asked by the police for a description. How would you describe the perpetrators? How would you describe the black man? The one most important feature of this man would be his complexion, wouldn't you say?
