Why? There is nothing impressive about this car. It is just a decision to add more motors and gadgets. Any modern car maker that is tinkering with electric propulsion could do it, heck, DeWalt or Panasonic could put out a straight line weapon that would humiliate an F40. An F40! Even Tesla 3 Performance would leave an F40 behind in 0-60. Which would you rather drive? There is so much more than beating a Lambo on a straight line for IONIQ 5 N. One of a very few EVs that can do two complete laps of Nurburgring stock straight from the factory (the tire might need to be upgraded for an ideal performance though 😉) The car deserves to be driven by car enthusiasts especially on corners, which is also one thing N symbolizes 🥰 What a great time to be alive and be an Nthusiast 🚀

This N is no joke. I wonder when these motors will make their way into a sedan? It's interesting to see the comparison between two cars with similar weight to power ratio but different forms of induction such as the N and the performante. It wasn't even close.
People keep writing this car off "because it's a Hyundai" when there are countless videos of it barnstorming tracks and putting down solid laps. It's not a slow car by ANY means. Hyundai knew what they were doing. I just wish Kia would do the same.
The editing of walking through the race was the coolest thing I've seen, kudos to the editing team for that idea and amazing execution. Astonishing results, selfishly I want to see what a tune on each of these cars would change the outcome. We see 100+hp at the wheels from a Lambo Urus with our ECU tunes, I wonder if it would be enough to catch the Hyundai. I never thought I'd ever say that sentence in my lifetime, but here we are.
Should walk away with a tune. This Performante was definitely a bit down. They normally trap in the low 120s, and this one, at 117 mph, was slower than the 100 hp weaker Jag at 119 mph. Either it knocked or they got some traction control intervention along the way.
The funniest part is - around a road course - I bet the Hyundai walks away from them as well. I never though I would really, really want a Hyundai - let alone an electric one - but I seriously hope I never run across one of these at the dealer for around MSRP.......I don't think I will be able to resist. I think they absolutely nailed this car - and rewrote what an EV can be/do.

@@orbitaljunkie And despite their low quality, they were pretty reliable cars and extremely simple to repair . Furthermore, their low end torque engines ensured decent fuel economy .
They really went from crap to amazing around 2009 with the Genesis Sedan then the Equus. It's wild. They've had nothing but beautiful, great cars ever since, and now they have a crazy performance car too...which competes with the best from Germans who've been making cars for 100 years...Really impressive.
Maybe they never did and this is just wishful thinking.
