Most of ppl here didn't understand.
    1. The battery performance :
This 4th gen battery is purely crazy thing. It has currently the most energy dense in the world. and the electrical resistance during charging and discharging is extremely low. That's why it can finish 2laps easily.
    2. Regen and cooling mystery:
The Hyundai N engineer told "we discovered" not invented. while regen, it cool down the battery temperature. still i don't understand. out of box. But I think this has something to do with the extremely low electrical resistance of the battery.
The regen capacity is 0.6g, which is 'hard breaking'. if you use the N pedal mode, most of technical corners r covered only with regen break. That explains Ben P has more battery left. n cold breaks.
    3. How Ben P's car dances.
N pedal mode is an extreme version of one pedal mode;but it doesn't stop tho.
It is involved not only in regenerative braking but also in the vehicle's maneuvering characteristics.
while front wheels are doing some regenerative braking, rear wheels thrust. and sometimes vice versa. It predicts and controls in real time. n... EVs r never turn off the ESP. actually can't turn it off. This is a very long story so I'll skip it.
One of the secret evidence that N engineers r totally crazy...is that... while the ABS is working, it regen.

You are basically just taking cool down periods. The re-charging part can almost just be seen as a net positive bonus.

Anyway. Not a Tesla fan at all. As a matter of fact, not a fan of EVs but facts and physics are what they are. Model 3 performance is definitely faster and would be a better track car due to weight. This Hyundai weighs tons. No matter how much power you give it, it won't be a great track vehicle. A four banger front wheel drive Civic has a better Nurburgring time than it. And barely 200 miles of range? Forget it.

@@CaliSteve169 reality and paper are two different things and obviously the Tesla didn’t keep up, sorry it sucks. And of course a civic would do better but that civic would need modifications to keep up, a stock civic ex would not stand a chance and definitely not beating this around the track, a civic type-r that was built with this kind of use in mind would and it has expensive modifications over the standard model to allow it todo so. There’s a lot of factors at play. And range is not that important when doing a single lap. Your moving the goal post. The ioniq has the brakes and is built to do this way more so than a model 3. The way it’s puts the power down, how it changes power output for track driving (literally showed in the video how it reduces and changes the torque curve so that it maintains grip), braking in to corners, the way the suspension is set up, etc. The Tesla has none of that, not built for it, which is why it grenades it’s breaks after 3 corners of heavy braking. Fix all those problems with a stock model 3 with modifications and yes it would be a lot better than this stock ioniq but stock for stock the model 3 has zero chance it’s just facts, straight line performance and launches are almost irrelevant on a track.

don't be distracted by the no. of cars they passed on the track; from the video, the traffic was quite slow; when the first real sports car appeared, it was bye bye 5n; it was very understeery out of corners(and into corners for that matter) and the direction changes were quite slow as well; fast for something in its size, but generally, slow in comparison with real sports cars; and don't forget, there are a number of hot hatchbacks that have a better time around the ring, all if them with less than half of the 5n power and most of them having manual gearboxes as well.
But, indeed, the way it leaped out after the corners and the way the brakes resisted fading was impressive. The direction is good, now they just need to cut out 500 kgs of weight from it and make it 20% smaller in each direction.

Then you hear the statistic and you just can't even believe it - in the US, on average, about 36000 people die in car crashes every year!!! How crazy is that?!?

better then the others, but for a 7:45 on the Nordschleife u can get cheaper cars that look better and have upgrade potential (my opinion)
and have real engine sound. Maybe as a 2nd car for smaller drives and also if u produce ur own electricity at home, this car would become a viable option.
but even then the looks of it would kill it for me.

The amount of hate and disdain that Hyundai is getting in these comments is laughable 😂 Not even because it's literally people who worked at BMW being given free reign to make compelling performance cars or because anyone who has reviewed this car has nothing but praise for it (other than the configuration software) will people accept that this is a product worthy of respect and recognition. The rise of Hyundai, Kia and Genesis as great companies that make great products is well documented. To pretend otherwise is just silly.

    • @richy69ify
