  • Chair Yoga 28 Day Series - Seated. In today’s practice, we’ll explore poses for our 28 day journey including focus on the breath. You’ll only need a chair for today’s class.
    Welcome to Bottoms Down Chair Yoga. I’m Carol and I’m happy you’ve chosen to spend this time together to stretch, lengthen and strengthen your body.
    This 22 minute yoga practice is day 1 of our 28 day yoga journey together. Join us as we build our practice from the ground up. We warm up gently and center our work on our breath and mindful movements to build strength and improve focus.
    You’ll only need a chair. We’ll stay seated the entire time.

    I lost my son last year and I completely neglected myself, I eat to much to silence my pain and I put too many kilos. On 4. November was 1 year and I know he would not be happy to see how my life is now. I am writing this and crying but I will do it.

      I am truly sorry😢. My father passed 3 years ago and I'm in the same boat & also 4 surgeries related to Diabetes later.... My body doesn't feel my own anymore. Thought I'd try something like this, since I've got bum feet💖

      I’m so sorry about the loss of your son. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. For your sake, please consider taking some time out of your day to fit in some exercise. Whether it’s chair yoga or walking, you’ll gradually gain strength and feel much better about yourself. Your son would want you to feel your best. It’s not too late. Take care.

    I am a certified yoga teacher and have neglected my practice for a very long time. Hip replacement and knee issues prevents me from getting on the mat. So happy that this came up in my feed, as I had just purchased a chair to practice. You are an absolute godsend to have this yoga program. I already feel the difference in my body, so thank you so much for this! I look forward to Day 2❤️

    As I'm writing this I am very overweight and having inflammatory issues. This was a gentle, doable yoga session that I'm doing from home. Thank you for your calm and meaningful voice!

    I love these. People are telling me yoga is demonic????!!! Do you hear that. This is my second time doing this challenge. I took a break, so I need to start over. 👍❤️

    This was my first day today, and I completed day 1. I used to be very agile, athletic, and constantly moving. After I had serious surgeries two years ago, I began experiencing a continuous, very intense pain in my knee, hips, etc. - in all body parts, where I used to have injuries and/or surgeries from falling off the bike, from tennis, skiing, etc.
    This chair yoga is an amazing testament to being able to live a normal life again! Thank you!

    I am 71 and don't get much exercise and carry extra pounds, actually many extra pounds. Looking forward to Day 2. Thank you for the sense of "calm" you deliver during your demonstrations.

    Hi Carol back at it again. After chair yoga all spring I was ready to go for summer hiking😊. Unfortunately I had a bout of gout and a bone spur in my toe laid me up fo most of the summer so only did short hikes. Going to do the 28 days challenge to get back into the fall again. Thanks for these great series.

    My daughter challenged me to do this. I just completed day four. This is amazing! I am 68 years old and in good shape, but I’ve never given yoga a chance. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to begin this journey. The instructor is great!

    Well, I did Day 1 again. I was better this time. I'm still having a little trouble with the hip rolls. My legs are just very heavy. But my mind feels better and I feel more motivated to keep going.l I think I will try Day 1 once more tomorrow and then move on. Thank you so much. I feel like this is the first positive step I have taken in quite some time and I want to keep it up. Before, when I tried exercises, I usually wanted to quit the next day. This is much better. I have a friend who is going to try it too!!

    You are amazing! I have been teaching yoga for 25 years and was recently asked to teach some chair yoga classes for a local library. I have been looking at a lot of so-called chair yoga videos and most of them i have found very lacking. Not your class! And that trick with the sit bones-brilliant. I will be following you.

    I got challenged ta do this by a dearly loved friend. There are several 28 day yogas out there and I got ta pick one, it deposited me hyere. I'm from The Ozarks of Arkansas so your accent hooked me right in. I NEEDED THIS, Ive had back surgery 10 months ago. I'm riddaled with rumatoid arthritis with spurs in my left shoulder. Takin this seriously, I did this and after the mounatin pose was completed i was cryin - I am a 51 yr old man!!! I'm tough enough ta cry when i need ta. THANK YOU SO MUCH fer this - i feel better already

    Just what I was looking for! ❤ I am 66 years old, stroke survivor, 4 years out of a wheelchair, and pushing 290, so I have mobility issues. I started this 3 days ago and I am loving it. Some things I can not do but I try my best. My goal is on day 29 to restart it and see my improvement. Thank you. Your voice is so calming.

    I'm starting late too. This was a nice mild gentle session to begin this. I plan to do this 28 day chair yoga every other day and on the off day do a seated walk or seated cardio. Thank you for doing this, Carol!

    Hi Carol I feel like you are a good friend. I talk to you every day. I think you are wonderful. I have learned so much from you on form. I started with the 28 day challenge. Which I agree was great for beginners. Then I did the Downward Dog Days. And I just finished the Detox and Circulation. That was an awesome 8 video series. I really enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed the way you did the mountain with your arms going over your head with your hands connected. That was fun. I keep telling all my friends about you. I was in great shape and got Lyme disease and was sick for over a year with different illnesses. Then when I started feeling better my 16 year old dog got Lyme disease. And I am dealing with that. Thankfully that was when I found you. Thank you so much for your help during this trying time. Giving me patience and understanding with the pitfalls of life. Especially I just lost my mother recently who I took care of for years. She had dementia. She would have loved this exercise and it would have been something she could do. I wish I had found you earlier. Thank you again for making this free for people like me! I have come to care for you and wish you all the happiness you can stand!!! Glyn Owen

    Before I have back surgery in 2015. I was a walker but since the surgery I haven't been able to do much. But I came across this tonight. And im going to commit to 28 days starting tomorrow morning.

    I have committed myself to the 28 days with a friend. I have not enjoyed Yoga in the past, however I am confident I will enjoy this chair Yoga. The only issue I have is sitting up with my feet grounded as I am experiencing lower back pain. Will be back for our Day 2 tomorrow.

      One idea is to put your feet on a yoga block, or a book or something to lift them a little higher off the ground. It might reduce the pressure on your back. So glad you're going to stick with it and I'll see you and your friend tomorrow.

    I am so happy I found this! I’m working with a physical therapist after taking a fall in June and damaging my right ankle and knee. This is a wonderful yoga work out without putting stress on my injury thank you so much!❤

    I have tried chair yoga from another teacher and didn't finish the program. I am giving it another try and so pleased with your approach and cheerful manner.. Thank you so much Carol.     I love yoga and unfortunately due to life circumstances I have become way out of shape with little time for self. My goal in the new year is to get healthy and put this past year behind me.     I have really enjoyed this class and today completed Day 22. I hope to try a couple of your other classes. I do have a bit of a balance issue so I appreciate when you say we can hold onto the chair if we need to. Thank you. This is a lot of fun!

    That was great! I feel so relaxed. I struggle with MS, restless legs and insomnia. After doing this I feel like I could sleep. Maybe this could be a relaxing set to do before going to bed. Definitely committed to the 28 day challenge. Thank you 🙏🏻

    I have been following this now for 15 days, I do love it but really need something that is all seated. I have difficulty doing the standing part of this challenge but I do love the Yoga and enjoy you as the coach. Will you ever offer all seated? I fractured my hip and have a bad right knee, (on top of being old!), so the gentle movement really helps me. Thank you for helping me try to get more active!!
