I have an ancient Superchips programmer I got in 2004 for my 2002 Silverado 5 speed. My truck gets dramatically improved gas mileage tuned for 91 octane vs the "Factory recommended" 87 octane. People aren't used to hearing it costs me less money to run premium instead of 87. Drives my wife fucking nuts, she has a V6 and it doest matter if I drive "responsibly" or if I'm shifting into third at 100mph she's always spending more time filling up than I do.
Does this tuner need to pull and save a factory gm tune before it will write a custom tune? My truck has a custom tune in it, and my C2s evolution tuner won't work because my current tune is modified.
@@StreamMastersPW I tell ya it's nice. I ran the 87 octane for about a week. Then I ran the 93 octane and have been for a few days now. Definitely a noticeable difference. Even on the 87 octane tune. I did notice a bit of a weird shift going into 3rd at low speeds when I went with the performance tune. I went in there tho and adjusted some shift points and I must say it "woke my truck up" lol. Good stuff. Love your channel. Ty so much for the instructional vids. I will be ordering a dual exhaust system from you guys sometime in the near future as well. You guys are great!
@@StreamMastersPW Just wanna say if you raise the throttle boost value to max in the performance tune and you experience a bit of a lag in shifting? Consult with a mechanic first to stay within a safe parameter for your vehicle. But that being said if you adjust your shift points a bit all will be well. This is a great cheap way to really make your truck feel and drive noticeably better. Turned the AFM off as well and now my truck is definitely quicker. It took all the sluggishness away and definitely helped my 0 to 60 time. Real gains for sure. American Trucks, thanks for the video. I loved my truck before but now I'm in love with it haha!
Christopher Davisson finally got it and installed the 87O tune adjusted everything I needed still feeling the lag, done some research and you are right shift points need adjusted I guess GM program the trucks to ride in the highest gear possible so it seems that’s the lag. In performance tune can you run 87 fuel?
Decoy 506 Once you select the tune you want and install it, it stays in the the trucks ECU. It won’t change until you want it to be changed by reconnecting the tuner and selecting a different tune.
is it possible to only adjust the speed limiter without tuning anything else? That the car would be stock but without the governor. Mustang gt 2019 EU model.
Im just speculating but my guess is that the performance tune is doing something to run your engine at a higher compression. Running a lower octane fuel at higher compression can cause knock, which can damage your engine. You’d still feel power gains, but you could be destroying engine components. Again, this is just speculation, but from what I know about engines that’s the only thing that makes sense to me.
Does this change the throttle response? My throttle doesn't seem linear, like a cable throttle. I'd like to have it where 10% throttle position gives 10% throttle to the engine.
So I tuned my brothers 2015 Silverado and noticed the torque control and shift points and firmness options was available in the options of the 87 tune. Do I need to update it then retune for those options to show up like on my 13 Silverado?

In that case you would be better off buying the “Range Technology” module. It just plugs into the same port and you leave it there. It’s only purpose is to disable DOD/AFM (cylinder deactivation bs). I’ve used mine in all my gm vehicles and it’s such a great product. I think I paid like $180 or something like that several years ago. Still using it but I’ll be getting this super chip next to help with towing
No way it produces 49HP! I bought this thinking, 30HP would be worth it, but it's probably 5 to 10HP. I did not dyno it because the difference in power was so small. I spook to support and got some advice ok faster response settings, but that's barely the only difference.
I bought this tuner for my 2011 Silverado 1500 with the 4.8L in it. Total waste of money. There’s no helping that engine. I finally traded that truck in for another Silverado 1500 with the 5.3L. All is good now. But I’m going to buy this Superchips tuner again, because it’ll actually make a difference with the 5.3L.
You can deactivate it or if using the performance tune it turns it off as well. With the performance tune though you have to use 91 octane gas or higher
You can disable the AFM. That's the main reason I bought it. I have a '17 Sierra 1500 4X4 5.3L, you can only change: the rev limiter, speed limiter, throttle boost (up to 20%) disable the AFM, tire size, tire pressure, and a few other things, shift points are not available though. I've run the 87 (current tune) and the 91, the 91 does make a larger difference than the 87 but not enough to offset the current fuel cost.
Why 14-17? 18s are the same truck from 2016-2018... and if you really want to be technical the Silverado’s are the exact same truck from 14-18 minus the front end aesthetics.

I used this tuner on my 15 Silverado and tried several different things including the 91 octane tune. when the brakes went out I took it in for warranty work and they plugged into it and scanned everything. Never said anything. I would ask your dealer first though.
@@kurtzimmerman1637 that's because the brakes have nothing to do with the drivetrain. Now it you had the "tuner" on the truck and went in for transmission work then they would probably tell you to get fucked.

You can’t tune more than one vehicle at a time. You can return vehicle #1 back to stock settings, and then tune another similar truck. Check which years your particular flashpac can tune before you buy one. The flashpac I bought for my 2011 wasn’t the same as my 2017 I believe.
I tried tunning my 2015 Sierra, after I was done with the tune the dash said engine reduced power after that my truck didn’t want to start. I put my truck back to stock and it turned back on. Anyone know why this happened? I couldn’t tune it.
I installed one of the tunes on my 2015 sliverado 1500 5.3, after doing so my transmission shifts hard. When I take off one of the pre set tunes my truck shifts normal Any ideas why this is?
There could be an option on the tuner where more aggressive shifting is programmed in. I'd recommend getting in touch with Superchip's customer support and see what they can do for you. -Zach
50ish hp gain at lower RPM (increase in part throttle performance) peak change was 13. You'll notice the lower RPM change more than the peak/higher anyways
I'm not, just underestimating that device. I had my 5.3 cammed, headers, exhaust, trans, tuned... And only got an extra 80hp out of it. And that cost me over 10k That little 350.00 box won't do that.@@Shredforlife123

I have this on my 2016 silverado.the raised rev limiter doesnt work and neither does the tpms setting.

If running the "Performance" tune, make sure you run your tank almost empty and fill wil 91/93 octane BEFORE you install the Performance tune

E85 is 100+ octane not 85, thats the percent of ethanol blend in it.

I use the range to get rid of v4 active fuel management. Will this tuner be a problem using both?
The tuner will disable the AFM in the settings you will not need the range
you don't need both with this tuner it shuts it off permanently

Probably a corrupt data file. Try another file and make sure your battery voltage doesn't drop off.

yeah im pretty sure the dealer can tell if you have ever flashed the ecu. Even if you put the stock tune back on before going in :/
