AmericanTrucks Chevy & GMC why don’t u manually shift the truck, just a question where the first dyno numbers with or without stock wheels ?
That f150 tune was definitely way more aggressive than the chevy tune. Just the shifts alone are way harder.
You guys need to do this with same silverado but with a 6.2. Let's see the difference !!
In the Chevy, if you hold down the traction control button for 7 seconds it will disable more of the torque management and give you a better dig in 4-hi.
Same with the ford
@@Gearhead-en8dz I believe traction control and stabilitrak are only automatically disabled when you shift to 4Lo, but in 4hi both are still activated.
@@jandos114288 You're right!
@UCp5i6HA6joLjfSKMKVQPiMw th-cam.com/video/aOvPzblhwl8/w-d-xo.html start watching at minute 1:40... PLUS I just went outside and tried it on my '16 Sierra... shifting to 4hi does NOT automatically disable traction control and stabilitrak. HOWEVER, shifting to 4lo does automatically turn off traction control and stabilitrak.
Just put e85 in the tank. Nothing else and it will have 380+hp and like 411lbft.
Listen - cold air intakes - waste of money and time. On Silverados of most year models - remove the stock air filter box - where the sealing foam is for sealing against the fender - that is removable. Remove it and use a Dremel to take out the middle. The inner fender has a metal strip going across the corresponding fresh air hole - grind that our as well - reinstall the stock air filter housing and enjoy your new cold air intake - stealth style. The flow is similar to the aftermarket CAI systems and the stock air intake system works well enough for stock engines - tuned or not. This is hands down the best and easiest mod for your Silverado for passing performance.
I have a 2015 Sierra 4wd with the 5.3 3.42 and ran 14.93 stock. Not sure how you launched but these trucks don't like to be stalled. Traction control off, shifter in M5 and 4wd if needed. Took me 4 runs to find the best run and now runs 14.93-15.10 every time. My first runs were 15.50-15.68 before I figured it out. Hope to tune it soon but undecided what to go with for the tune.

CrewCab?
There’s no way a stock 5.3 runs 14.93 crewcab 4x4
What MPH? That shows you what HP you're making...
@@nr552 no it doesnt lol
@@pyrorye-80 yeah it does within certain conditions wheel spin. How many .000 lights have you made? How many classes have you won?
@@nr552 im not getting into an internet pissing match with you, but ive been around this for many many years
Crazy how fast these crew cab trucks are getting.
Many, many years ago, I dumped about 7 grand into a tuned port injected 350 L98. AFR heads, Crane Cam, Edelbrock TPI intake base and runners, larger injectors, etc, and a crap load of machine work. The engine was transplanted into my '87 monte carlo SS. It ran great, but I was always chasing down electrical bugs. This car was also my daily driver, so I had hoped the fuel economy would be decent. It wasn't. I'm sure my right foot is responsible for a lot of that... But the LS1 was just bursting on the scene. It made almost as much power, and later they made way more power, but it was reliable and got good gas mileage. That really upset me that the factory was putting out bone stock engines that would clobber the one I'd spent so much time and money on. In hindsight, I couldn't be more happy that engines are what they are today.
So yeah, it is kinda crazy how much faster and still dependable cars and trucks are these days. Wait until electric motors become more mainstream. The performance they offer is already incredible.
Yup, back in the day, high 12s, low 13s were pretty quick. Now full size trucks are hitting that lol. 👍
No EV please we don’t want them
The pacing, camera work and video quality on these is phenomenal, keep it up!
That 10 speed transmission is the real hero.
you mean the 10 speed that ford and gm worked on together and put in the trucks? same 10 speed in GM as in FORD
jay webb the Chevy is using at the best an 8 speed. But yes the same 10 speed they Co-developed together.
@@gavinbooshu4737 well if you pause the video at 1:10 you can see a trans dip stick , which means it has the 6 speed auto in it, not the 8 or the 10 speed. the 8 or 10 speed dont have dipsticks. But the newer trucks come with a 10 speed now, i just so happen to be a tech for a GMC dealership , pushing 7 yrs there. so that could be a big difference in the times too, the trans being 6 speed when the ford might have the 10, and the gearing in the rear end, plus the ford having better base hp/torque
jay webb the ford definitely has the 10 speed. So the tighter gear ratio alone is gonna make a huge difference. Keeping the truck in the powerband the whole time.
Things I loved about my ‘18 Ford SCREW FX4 5.0: the powertrain
Thing I hated: Fit and finish. Interior falling apart at 10K miles.
Things I love about my ‘18 LT2 Z71: Fit and finish, interior, infotainment.
Things I’m not too fond of: 5.3 is a dog and AFM is awful with an exhaust.
My 2015 crew cab short bed, leveled, 31s, intake, exhaust and an sct handheld ran a 15.026 in 2wd after a nice burnout. 4wd ran a 15.1.
If im going to void my warranty im going to make it worth it, single turbo ftw.
Procharger
Maybe y’all can add long tube headers and a supercharger to see more ! Great video
This dude was on American muscle! I didn’t know yall had a truck website
I’m rockin the carven on my 2010. Love it.
Glad to hear you're loving it! -Zach
I bet it sounds like a lawnmower when it kicks into 4 cylinder mode.
oiyouslag927 dod delete takes care of that.
Shift in manual mode I could shave about 3-2 seconds off my time with my 2010 Sierra 6.2 I usually brake it and launch it in 4hi at 2,500-2,800rpms
That poor chevy needs longtubes and a dyno tune instead of that can tune
you gain next to nothing on an LS modding the exhaust.....its not worth the money. The stock manifolds flow extremely well
@@thebubba1 I always hear people say that about the LS, but that was a LT, that ran. The problem is weight, iron block.
Long tubes really arent going to make a bit of difference. I know its strange but, even after deleting the 2 cats on the stock manifolds with long tubes showed no actual improvment on the dyno. Just isnt worth the money or the time. That motor is capable of a lot, but much of it is locked up for the daily guy that doesnt care or need it, not to mention emissoions.
@@Punk-Jw ... a REAL custom dyno tune with just long tubes and E 🌽 they gain low 50 to high 40 wheel Hp ... compared to just mid 20s with tune only , so yes long tubes make about a 18-25 rwhp gain WITH a tune , without a tune and just headers you gain maybe 5-10 wheel . But paired with a tune is about a solid 20-25 wheel
@@hunterbasselite6826 anything is going to pump out more power with e85. But not everything is set up to run it, we don't even have any around here to my knowledge, I'm sure we could get it, but we'd need to travel. Regular everyday pump 91-94, custom tune or not, I've seen the results personally in front of me. Both on stock truck engines and a built ls3. The torque curve changed a little, and i mean very little but that's about it...i mean it's not like the old days of poor flowing cast iron manifolds, since the birth of the LS that's pretty much been eliminated. The new ones are essentially block huggers. Given the cost, it's not something i would spend money on for a mild build.
Fuller from custom off sets?
I ran my 19 GMC Sierra 1500 ran a 15.45@91mph stock height stock tires just had s&b cold air intake and borla attack exhaust. That run only in 2 wheel drive I haven’t made a pass in 4 wheel drive yet
Just got me a 2015 z71. Cold air, but stock otherwise. Doing the exact same with a tune (diablotek) and a cat-back. Those 5.0 and turbo ecoboost fords are just so hard to beat in speed, though. They put down the power. I’ll take a Chevy on looks, but, dang. Still, I’m not driving my pickup to race, but will welcome the extra little boost of power from the simple bolt on’s.
The Ford is quite a bit lighter too.... It's mostly aluminum lmao
The problem there it’s the stock cam , no matter what you do it won’t build up HP
Ford does great because it doesn’t have the AFM system that GM has
What does that have to do with it? not being a dick
I have afm a I don't notice a difference weather I turn it off or leave it on
Let's see you guys do a full build on a 6.2 and take it to the track.
Great video! 👍
Crazy how my 6.2 stock , on 33s and 3.5lvl , I hit my limiter (97mph) bout 30ft before 1/4mile
heh, my 2014 4.3L runs low 16s, high 15s bone stock in 2wd with t/c off down at Cecil County. stock wheels and tires, burnout in waterbox. quickest pass went 15.94 with a 0.085 light. not bad for a 6" lift and 33s tho.
Im a Toyota guy but man i would love to own a 5.0 f150 someday. Those things pull!
That chevy looks so clean fuck speed you dont buy a truck to go fast anyways plus the chevy is more reliable
Clean yes reliability no
Is the chevy running 3.23 gear ratio? if so that would explain alot lol especially with the 33s
Braden Kappel it’s funny that people add bigger tires and add mods and instantly think their truck is a race car. When they neglect to realize the gear ratio needs a serious change to accommodate that and show street gains
I think you are right. Plus it looked like a one wheel peel at launch which means no g80 so no trailering package for the better gear
Unless it’s 3.08 ? But maybe that was only in the Tahoe/suburban
i noticed they didnt mention gearing in either......I wonder why.....hmmmmm?
@@fk3321 my 2017 came with the 3.08.

GM needs to pull their head out with the engines and drivetrain. So underpowered and underperforming compared to its rivals. Its sad really because i have a 2013 6.2 but this may be my last Silverado.
Rather be under powered and be reliable then fast one day.... and shop next day! Toyota and Nissan are doing the same thing still.
@@RSBully.z oil leaks from the oil filter straight from the factory? Pretty reliable huh???? Not!
If you all need speed buy Mustang, Charger, Corvette a Camaro lol Both are good trucks, depends a lot on the owner.
I feel that brother and the interior game is not up to date but usable
Really? A stock truck runs high 14's and that's bad? Haha. I mean that's on par with the supercharged GTP and many others. That's a respectable time from a stock truck.
6” lift, 33’s, weak tune, can’t expect to much..
I have to agree....I have a 15 that was making 305 hp and 337tq on a stock tune, with only the afe momentum cold air. I havent got to see what the exhaust and custom tune brought me up to but ive seen other guys running e85 with a mild tune, cold air and exhuast hit 400hp, dont remember the tq. That can tune is only going to make a little better mild driving experiance, doesnt really apply much at the end of the day.
Tbh
And only running at 85??? On a track??? I’d be going 100 or trying to max out my speedometer
Jimmy Rodriguez u obviously don’t get it
That Chevy would have done better without the mods!
Should have added the Pedal Commander as well.
Should have had that Pedal Commander hooked up
A 6.2 (l86) intake + tb and an e85 tune would definitely get it up to 330 wheel
Soo wait i thought Chevy claimed 355 hp on those 5.3's stock on Silverado/Sierra's? where did you get 270?
355 crank hp. 270 wheel hp
Can you put long tube headers with catted y pipe with an exhaust system with a cold air intake and a tune in a 2014 Silverado 1500 regular cab without it messing up
Very cool!
That Ford is a beast
Excellent looking truck! What is the lift, and the wheel/tire sizes and offset? Thanks!
Actually I just found all this info in the description.
I really want to see what can be done with the new 6.6l.
I’d love to see a video with that GM product run with an electronic throttle control delete product and see what the numbers are. Throttle response been my biggest complaint with my truck so far and while I haven’t purchased a one of the fixes yet, seeing a truck like this run a drag strip with the mods in this video would really be a good test I think.
Need info brother I got a 6.2 2014 and it wont even do a burnout
Ya cuz you can tell how good a truck is by its pass time.
Is it possible to tune the Silverado on flex fuel ?
Diablo tuner . Advanced tune. Diablo flex tune. Their tune is for e85 and 93
SCT has custome tunes for all fuel types including pure E85 and Flex Tunes
Im new to the truck life i have a 4.8L Silverado 2012 i have a K&N intake but im looking for that loud agressive sound not too crazy! I live in Cali idk if i should get long tube or cammed ? Pls help explain
If I delete the third cat and do an exhaust system or just duals will I lose horsepower vs just a cat back exhaust system?
The exhaust probably didn't help any at all because you didn't free up the real restriction which are the exhaust manifolds
What’s the lift kit you got ?
What happened to running in 4 auto? Did you tune for 93 octane??
Out of all the tuners you guys have used on a 5.3L Silverado which one gives it the most power and torque?
No cap
This question is for both trucks exhaust systems what are the DB's at idle and 3000 rpm ?From California .......
F150 still king
273 wheel? How did LPE get 302 on their 2014 development mule Silverado?
Just out of curiosity, what’s the wheel offset for the 2016 Chevy in this video? I remember hearing that those are 33’s on there; I was hoping to put 35s on my 2018 with a little bit of poke. Just curious, thanks.
Isn't the 150 also lighter than the silverado??
Why are they at the drag strip again? I was hoping to see some records smashed!
Do a tuned & dropped Silverado
What is the lift level on the truck ?
Can you do a video on the diablo predator sport
And ofcourse, the 150 with a smaller engine put out more power stock than the Chevy did tuned.......
That f150 is guaranteed not stock. It was shifting way to hard. Not only that but they tell you right after its first pass that it has several stuff done.
That was a 5.3 not 6.2
@@jaydenreynolds9829 the 150 is still smaller
Damn thats slooooooowwwww
gearing?
I mean it isn’t a fair Mach up and they know that. That’s why they said it all for fun. That 5.3 isn’t suppose to match up with the 5.0. The 3.5 ecoboost is. Yea the 5.3 has more displacement but the 5.0 has 4 cam. If they did the 6.2 it be better. And he alway running off road tires and lift kit. Not ideal for drag racing
Matt Callaway that doesn’t make sense. The 3.5eb goes head to head with GM’s larger 6.2, it completely outclasses the 5.3. The 5.3 is a very reliable engine but is by far the slowest V8 out of the big three. Even Fords small 2.7eb produces more power and better mpg’s than GM’s 5.3.
wendysorbust the 6.2 does go against the 5.0. It goes Chevy v6 4.3 vs Ford 2.7. 5.3 vs 3.5. 6.2 vs 5.0. It pretty clear. Both offer 3 engine options that compete with each other
Matt Callaway with all due respect, I don’t think you know what your talking about.
Fords 3.5eb, even though it’s only a v6 it manages to perform as good, if not better than GM’s larger 6.2l V8. It does this because of its two small turbo chargers. The other benefit of the 3.5eb is that it can be bought in the lower trim levels as well. GM limits their 6.2 V8 option to their LTZ, SLT and above trims.
Below that is GM’s 5.3 and Fords 5.0. As seen in the video above in both stock and modified form Fords 5.0 is a bit more efficient than GM’s 5.3. As someone who owned a 15 GMC Sierra with a 5.3 it’s a highly de-tuned engine from the factory. You can check my channel if you don’t believe me.
Ford recently began offering a smaller 2.7 Ecoboost engine. This slots right under their 5.0 offering but manages to match the 5.0’s performance numbers with only a slightly lower tow rating.
I won’t talk about either manufactures NA V6 offerings since both are really aimed at the fleet market.
The 3.5 Ecoboost is a lot faster then the 5.0 especially when they are both tuned. My heavy 2015 3.5 Ecoboost crew cab FX4 ran 13.02 @ 102MPH. A more even match up would be the 2.7 Ecoboost vs the 6.2
Can I add a pedal commander and a flashpaq f5 tuner? I'm not sure if the tuner does what the commander does...I have a 2017 Silverado 5.3
The commander doesnt actually add performance. It just changes the voltage to the drive by wire so less peddle opens the throttle body more. If you want good performance from a tune and most bang for your buck you want a custom tune. Flashpaq does offer this with some of there models, Certain ones have storage for custom tunes from HP tune, although Black bear tune is getting better results doing the samething and if you happen to change somthing down the road, just call them and let them know, and they'll write you a new flash file for your changes that you can flash on yourself.
The problem with the Vortec V8 6L engines is that they have no real torque on the low end.
Anyone know the lift on the Silverado ?
If ford wasn’t so ugly I might consider one but the Chevy is better looking for sure
Great truck and great topic But trucks can go low too man. I'm tired of seeing only lifted trucks. Switch it up a bit & Do a pt2 wit a 4/6 drop 🤙🏽
We offer a couple lowering kits on our site, so I'm sure its only a matter of time before we get some videos going! -Zach
Stock 2018 here my Athena would smoke your lifted whatever you call that.i get lifted is for style but my stock Chevy 5.3 2wd will womp
Dang they must have cut the ending! We all know the Ford shit out a couple phasers and a timing chain after it’s run. First On Race Day, First in the shop!
Trey aw come on man it was a 5.0 now a 5.4 lol
oiyouslag927 I know man I just gotta give the Ford boys a hard time. I owned two 5.4 F150s, an ‘06 and a ‘10, they’re the reason I’ll never own a Ford again. The 5.0 is just a polished version of that turd so no thank you. It’s Just my opinion though and most people love their Fords, I loved mine till they cost me 10k in repairs over the course of 8 years...
Dude screw that cat back exhaust bs. Put on long tube heads going to true duals, dummy cats and dummy mufflers, or flowmaster super 10s. Then you'll get some good sound and better performance
No, actually you wont. Proven on the dyno, deleting the cats on the manifolds and adding long tubes changed nothing. Absolutley nothing, except sound which even wasnt much. Cat back is more than sufficiant and far less money to put towards somthing that will actually gain some ground.
No e85?
You done absolutely nothing by installing the cold air and leaving it open totally defeats the purpose of a "cold air" intake
Wow. I thought the 5.3 would be comparable with Ford's 5.0 in power with the mods. I was wrong. All hail the coyote.
The question is; how much of this can I get away with having in California.
🤔🤔🤔 Look in Amazon. I guess price would not change at all but at the end it’s worth it. Just keep in mind with the first one… this filter is gonna cause check in lights all the way through until you get someone to reset the computer and make the car read the temperatures the filter is giving it. I’m letting know because I bought it and no video said this. IT CAUSE CHECK IN LIGHT!!!! which can cause you to spend a few bucks more at the inspection.
Where's you're shop located @??
Back in the day all we did was flip the air cleaner lid over and put the tailgate down.....
Loud exhaust isn't always better.
Depends on who you ask. 😅 -Zach
Loud exhaust is nothing but noise - and it adds nothing to "performance" - it is a waste of time, money and effort in my opinion due to backwards gains
Yeah the Ford 5.0 competes with the LS 6.2 more so than the 5.3.
That's not the extendable dry filter that they put on the chevy, it's the oiled one. Does this guy even wrench or is he just an actor?
87mph in 4 wheel bro.......toast
You guys should have used corsa or borla exhaust for more hp, and done a cold air induction intake as they have been tested to gain 25+ hp at the wheel with no tune
You want sound for your exhaust? Check out the Borla exhaust systems
11:00 Where can i get one of those jackets haha
i expected more out of the 5.3 i mean for the longest time chevy has been faster then ford but i guess the tables have turned
For a long time... Where have you been? The 5.0L has been in the F-150 for 8 years and has maintained ~40 more hp than the GM 5.3L throughout that span. It is dated and GM seems oblivious that both Ford and Ram have been offering V8s that leave the 5.3L in the dust.
F-150 13.80! Wow!
My 2013 Ram kicks my 2018 Silverado's ass. But Ram is 2wd.
Get a custom tune from Klug Performance. Those canned tunes barely do anything. Even with a lift and larger tires that truck should be in the mid 14's.
DO WHAT?? The 5.3 is rated at 355 hp from the factory ???
That's a bench test loses power once installed
Get the water off the tires!
I assume this is flexfuel, same as my last two. These trucks do actually run worse on higher octane and best on e85 if you can find it.

Get your head out of your ass boomer the big 3 are all the same quality.
those hp #s are a joke that can tune basically shut the engin lights off, all the power came from the bol tons. and you had to have left the traction control ans stabilatrac on u can hear it cutting power on the launch.
It's like people watched the video with the sound off. Surprised a non lifted truck with more HP and better gearing went faster. Really?
AmericanTrucks Chevy & GMC Many fools that do this do not realize that putting those huge rims and tires will detract acceleration and throttle response !
