    The board power limit-to-temperatures ratio is insane on the Strix. Also, the board power limit is the thing, that will probably push the Strix ahead of the competition. ASUS have done a great job of letting the RTX 3090 "breathe" for the Strix.

      @@Taqz839 only $800 and It seems like the guy only used it a few times and just left it in the box for a long time. It was essentially new. I really thought I was gonna get scammed cause even then the lowest you saw it for used was $1k but the ebay seller had 5 stars and ALOT of sales so I said screw it and tried it. Best decision ever and I still don’t regret it, there’s no way I’m buying 40 series ever. Nvidia has don’t a lot of sketchy shit lately being greedy and buying that shit especially at those prices just pats them on the back for it. Also they are just big and ugly as fuck. When I saw the Gamers Nexus video showing off all the cards I literally was laughing my ass. Also the Asus showcase when they kept dropping the Strix card cause it was too heavy and it fell out of a itx motherboard multiple times had me rofling too.If I didn’t get that 3090 I was just gonna get a 6950xt. I was gonna wait for 40 series but I just had a gut feeling that it was gonna be bad and just got impatient. Honestly right now if you can’t find a good deal on a 3080-3090ti (cause Nvidia is controlling the market to raise high end 30 series prices to make 40 series seem like the only option unless you wanted something budget or mid tier) then I’d just get a 7900 xt/xtx or 6950xt. I love both Amd and Nvidia cards, the whole attitude towards AMD is just stupid. People say “their drivers have too many issues” or “their ray tracing is terrible” and it’s just bullshit tho their RT definitely isn’t as great but if you got a 6950xt the performance is so good that it compensates for the lower performing RT. People just really like to exaggerate it but yea anything lower than a 6800xt I wouldn’t bother with RT cause in the lower end stuff it’s definitely not worth it. The whole driver thing people say is just stupid, Nvidia drivers are just as bad ,if not worse. Especially lately. 6900xt/6950xt even goes for $600-700ish now.

I think you could produce 2100Mhz stable ~40C, particularly considering it will produce 1950Mhz on air with what would be incredibly high power leakage at ~70c. In current reality, here in the UK the 3080 FE is about £1300, the 3080 Strix is going for about £1400-1500, the 3090 FE for about £1600, and the 3090 Strix at anything from £2000 and upwards.
    At least according to Ebay, which happens to be the only way to actually get any of these cards... The 3090 FE suddenly makes a lot of sense if you can't wait another 6 to 12 months for an upgrade.

    • @EarthIsFlat456
      @EarthIsFlat456 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      HU hasn't reviewed any 3090 Tuf though so you're basically comparing the performance of the 3090 Strix here against the performance of the 3090 Tuf from another reviewer, which is pointless.

    • @andersjjensen
      @andersjjensen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is also no guarantee that you'll be able to utilize the full 480W. If you lose the silicon lottery your particular GPU may tap out at 420W and no amount of voltage will make it clock any higher while retaining stability... such is life as an overclocker. And what is even worse: yields improve over time. So you are statistically much less likely to get a good sample in the early production runs. In fact, getting some of the last silicon that gets produced in a series is always the best bet for competitive overclockers.

    421 watts when overclocked? Holy fucking shit. In a room without AC that would be painful after an hour of gaming. That applies to the non-OC powerdraw as well though. I wish there were some impressions on the Ampere GPUs when gaming without AC. I live in a single room + kitchen 42 square meter apartment without AC, and I don't think I could've gamed on a system like that this summer when my apt sat on a constant 34C+. On the flipside, those cooling solutions are *insane.* Keeping a GPU sub-80C without jet engine noises when pulling over 400W is seriously impressive.

    My 3090 strix oc clocks to 2160mhz core and 21gb/s on vram. Better than a good chunk of 3090ti’s and I’m only using the stock cooler. If I had a water block and active backplate it’d be amazing

    Why there is no results for 3090 FE OC in this review?
    It is great that we can see that strix gets close to 10% higher while OC'd versus stock FE, but what is the difference when both are OC'd?

    Surely the backplate is made of unobtainium, it doesn't rust if you haven't got one.

    I wonder what a full cover waterblock will do for performance, especially with the hot GDDR6X chips.

      A full waterblock needs a card

    I have the 3070 version and it's exactly the same size which is crazy.

    I know it has a bit more OC potential than the Gaming X Trio, but both performing equally at stock in both FPS and thermals (at equal noise level) makes the almost $300 price difference seem a bit much.
