phy i remember in one of your streams you said that you should go for more random f smashes i hope u listened to leons words that you need to be calculated about it. Id love to see you improve and improve alongside you!
I just started getting back into SSBU 3 days ago! Got it on launch and played about 700 hours. Had to sell my switch to pay rent but was just able to gets a new one last week. I was always a Ness and GnW main but randomly this time around have been playing a ton of Bowser and I really really enjoy the character. I never cared for heavies because of their speed but Bowser is by no means slow at all! Thank you for the video and I see myself spending a to of time playing him!
Came back after I won a tourney with bowser. I’ve been playing him for 2 months and this was my beginner video which I would come back to. I appreciate this sooooo much
every other guide video is like "here's your two best moves, now memorize these 800 bread and butter combos", but Phy clearly and succinctly summarizes the character's important attributes piece by piece. bowser's now one of my secondaries thanks to this video!!
I don't main Bowser, he's my secondary. I just love Bowser since he's a great character and fun to play. Also, great video I love the Dragonball Super music!
My bowser has been pretty basic lately and I've only been able to get to semifinals in tourneys, but after watching this guide and practicing a bit I can already tell my bowser has gotten a LOT better, when I was already doing pretty good before. So thankyou for the guide this will definitely push me further through tourneys and maybe i can win some.
I have struggled many times as a Bowser main online against smaller characters, but after seeing this I have new hope. Serious props to getting Leon on here to explain along with you. Best guide so far, will probably rewatch this again for sure.
I main Bowser. I love Bowser. I'm IN LOVE with Bowser (tmi?). I crush my foes with him. Now I feel...puny and...worthless. There's so many others better than me, even a better Bowser...no the best Bowser. Now I lost all confidence. I probably won't enter a tournament after this. I don't see myself winning against these guys. U_U I'd probably just get a big butt whooping. I'm just not skilled enough. The tips are very helpful though! I just feel lost in the crowd. My heart dropped as soon as I saw other TH-cam suggestions of Bowser players who I know are better than me.
Yes, yes, YESSSSSSSSSS! Thank you Phy for this great video, really helpful and so detailed. Honestly one of your best work by far, hopefully we can get more of these types of videos soon
Being honest, I thought this was Leon the entire time with how much the video shared. Also this is one of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen. Very well done
I don’t think enough players 1. Know that you exist (which is an issue) and have the absolute most comprehensive guides to playing Bowser. 2. That you and Leon are THE BEST Bowsers. I’ve seen some people argue this and understand that some are better than others. But no one has the knowledge on this character that you both do. 3. That Leon (as far as I know) has the highest PGR score of any Bowser main. I feel that he gets over looked because this character doesn’t get repped enough.
Thank you this really means a lot! I don’t think I’m anywhere close to a best bowser in terms of skill, but I sure as hell make the best Bowser content 😂 I appreciate the support !
Dude I just want to say thanks. I have been looking for a good bowser combo guide and I found this a few months ago. Just havent gotten to comment… I always enjoy rewatching this and it benefits me
11:43 That is soooo true, well, from based on what I see online anyway. Whenever I play fellow Bowsers i often find them really predictable because they just throw out so many unsafe options and are risky, and the ones that play defensive absolutely can NOT take pressure or they fall apart
This was definitely a big help! I managed to take down characters like Roy and Captain Falcon if it weren’t for your advice from before! You’re doing a great job as always! Keep it up! 😊
I've said it before and I'll say it again: The only thing keeping Bowser from perfection is his voice. In all seriousness, amazing guide! Hope to be able to implement it into my Gameplan
I was personally of the opinion that a smart Bowser is one of if not the the most scary thing to play against in this game, and watching this guide absolutely solidifies that for me
You teaching us how to play bowser. Noobs: side B go BRRRRRRR In all seriousness this helped me alot my friend is an extremely good smash player and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't beat his ganondorf until now.
I just subscribed! Best Bowser guide on TH-cam! Thank you Phy and Leon! I agree that the hardest part of playing Bowser is to not pull the Dair and Up-B trigger too often (which I do) and to land safely (got to practice that Down-B to the ledge)!!!. Can't wait to apply these things to my Bowser so I can make better videos on my dedicated BOWSER channel!
I was a really good bowser a few years ago, round about at the time this video got out. Nice for beginners and ppl who didnt play the game for a long time to fresh up knowledge! Good job dude!
Late reply but, HOLY SHIT WHAT A GOOD VIDEO. Phy youve gotten so good at editing and explaining I understood everything perfectly. You taught me a bunch of new tech I never knew about (jab side/down b, lots of tips for stages, ect.) And I feel like I understand Bowsers potential way better bc of this vid, so thank you so much!!! Also having LeoN guest star was the icing on the cake. fantastic job Phy, keep being sick 🔥 (Btw, I FINALLY got used to up throw combos and have been using them (mostly up air) in matches, which was mostly from your guide and practice in training mode, so thanks alot!)
Duude thank you soo much! Definitely put beyond 100% of my heart and effort into that one so that means a lot 🙏🏻 I’m so glad it helped you learn a few things. Yeah I’m so happy LeoN came on, really completed the video! YESS that is awesome to hear! Those up throw combos are satisfying to hit consistently huh?!
You and Leon have done a good job with this video bowser was my main ever since brawl and if I ever have friends who want to learn to play bowser themselves I will definitely show them this
My favorite is jab to down tilt (trips) which can set you up for down b or dash/jump to flamethrower. Down tilt is so overlooked. Seems only time ppl use it is for edge guarding.
I was hooked when the music started in the beginning like “im definitely playing some smash bros after this vid 💀” 🤣big broly fan hence the profile pic 🤓
As a Bowser main, I highly respect you for making this. (I'm also ecstatic that Jack Black, AKA THE Kung-Fu Panda, is going to play him in the new film!)
I just want to say I am a huuuge fan of this content. Your what inspired me to pick up bowser in the first place. Anyway, I was wondering if you have plans to stream more frequently on twitch. I know a lot of your subs would love to see it, and I know I’d subscribe if you have that available. Keep up the good work!
I appreciate that! Honestly my streaming on twitch is pretty random. Kinda just do it when I feel like it and when I can manage it time wise since I have lots of IRL work a lot of the time. Thanks again!
This is epic!!! I will definitely watch again later and I can tell you put alot of work into it! Y'all called my bad habits out many times lol. I haven't played smash bros in the last week or 2 (not by choice), so I'm curious how I will be when I play again. I notice when I dont play for a while my playstyle changes a bit, is that just me??
That happens to me too! I get worse in some aspects as I get rusty, but on the other hand I sometimes dump off some bad habits! So it’s kind of a nice refresher
The problem with bowser its than most unexperienced bowsers have terible habits, since hes an easy character to pick, but has a lot of potential Btw incredible video
I am a cloud main, and i starting to drop sephiroth and starting Bowser as second, Bowser is one of cloud's worst mu so i can pick him as a counterplay, thanks for the video and the información about bowser
Honestly this guide makes me wanna play and possibly main Bowser. I have not much of a motivation to play smash at the moment. I play Sephiroth and Cloud, but i seem to enjoy them less and idk why. I love both characters in their own games. And i will not give up on them, but maybe i could also try Bowser for awhile. He is fun to play and not to complex. I do have to learn about getting a great muscle memory that helps me doing mix-ups without to much thinking. My reaction is a little bad too, so maybe if i play Bowser i might get a better feeling for a reaction based style. Because i get bodied by my friends when we play haha😅 they are kind of competitive so that can also be a reason. I also wanted to be competitive a time ago. Untill i realized that it aint my thing. I play for fun, and i'm not to attached to the game to sacrifice my own sleep for it.

big facts
You actually got leon in good job
Bowsers up tilt is so effective and satisfying to watch
Yooooooo with Leon himself. This is dope
In other words.. *Bowser is a fast-moving tank*
It’s a trope called “lightning bruiser”
As a Bowser main, I agree.
