Though k rool was day one heavy weight main for me. The whole depending on his opponent to mess up thing really shows. He’s frustrating in a lot of matchups but he certainly is a fun character.
So I just want to talk a little about my technical thoughts on this acc and talk about things I think about Rool and some options for all that want to hear a little of my gameplan. Most if it is subjective of course. First off, in my eyes Blunderbuss is K Rools best move. The drop from stage you saw in my clip is great to style on people and catch them offguard, slow projectiles are great for pressure, the command grab is an insane ledgetrap and kills very early. Even though I myself dislike it, the classic succ n' cucc is always an option as well. What I was missing a little was talking about the special crown armor and how it does NOT break your belly, but only armors 14.4% of damage in 1v1. Another thing I want to add about countering projectiles: Different to most reflectors/counters, Rools belly still has a very strong hitbox after hitting a projectile which means if you're standing close to your opponnent they get destroyed even more! A more personal thing that I know is not that good as an option, yet I like it a lot and do a lot of stuff with it in bracket: F Throw at mid percent. While you may not have any true combos, you can try getting a bair at certain percent, do platform setups or try going for a read. F Throw puts the opponnent in a bad spot that can be deadly, even though you don't have true follow ups at mid %. This is were Rools mindgame factor comes into play. This mindgame factor is of course not what fits in a guide like this, but I quickly want to talk about it a little. At least my playstyle with Rool really works with conditioning and reads. It is easily possible to destroy your opponnent from a stray hit in neutral at like 10 if you know how to use Rools options and read your opponennt. This is were the character shines. For example, just a few days ago in Bracket, i managed to kill a Terry off of a ledgegetup at 14% because of this. Also, just want to add that of course y'all can also go for up smash as a mash read out of d throw, not just up air as said in the vid ;) Just remember to mix up your mash reads, because you'll get messed up otherwise! This is definitly a good rundown on the character and does a lot of the things it should. But I hope people that actually want to pick Rool up know, that he does have greater combos than just single hits, for example the good old Kremling Kombo, that is a true kill combo on the entire cast between like 25 and 45% depeding on rage and character. And one thing about the commentary, I laughed my ass off as you said "Wen you dive into his meta, you'll find a crocodile" and had a pause after, don't ask me why lmao Also, quick note to all that want to pick up Rool. Learn how to tech stagespikes consistently! With his recovery, this is a must! You will not have a fun time with Rool if you can't get those techs consistently! Very well said; very good insights on the character. On what you said about standing close to your opponent when countering, the otherday I countered a Steve that D-smashed at ledge (I was of stage) at 29% with the turnaround animation: went up to 89% and died. Very powerful in the right situation.
Something I want to ask, I've seen some clips of K. Rool b-reverse the counter (so that you face the other way). The counter still comes out and will launch them in a way they're not expecting. How useful is this? I thought the counter hitbox was only on his belly
@@TyphonCH Do you mean the turnaround you can do after they hit you? It can be quite useful offstage in my eyes, as you can get unfairly early kills with it. Even if you miss after the the turnaround it can be a great mixup in the right spot, as people could tr teching a stagespike and airdodge. If they do not get sent to the stage because you turned around and missed them and they airdodge now, they just die. It definitly can be useful, but you really have to use it correctl, because otherwise you will just miss your damage by doing that

When it's activated, you input the opposite direction your're facing, like if you're facing right, you tilt left. Good guide sir. It was informative, summarized well, and a strong presentation, getting around the whole point of K. Rool's gameplan. I love the comparison to K. Rool and real-life crocs, that was a nice touch. There are a few things left out of here and you can tell this was made before Patch 13.0.0. One note is that the full gentlemen Jab & F-Tilt aren't worth going for in a D-Throw bury as the former doesn't hit all characters nor kill, and the latter is a bit too slow and has inconsistent kill power since the sourspot can take priority for the sweetspot. So it's just better to go for Up-Tilt and Instant Dash Attack. But overall, wonderful work. Keep it up!
I use King K Rool, but though I'm not competitive I like another factor about him is that he always wins the mental game, there have been several times when I beat someone with him and they immediately switch to a character that can out speed him or use reflectors, Zelda being the most pick so even if I don't always win in the battle I take it as a personal win for sticking to my guns despite K. Rools disadvantages because at the end of the day its only a video game, there's 0 reason to take smash bros seriously
Great guide! I sometimes use D-tilt as a tech chase option and dash attack after running in the opposite direction, it always catches people off guard. Did you know K. Rool's F-smash is strongest angled up? I don't know why either. You can also use Blunderbuss off stage, by shooting it at the stage, making it bounce off it hitting off-stage opponents, then B-air them. I'm not very good at it though.

Rool because he is a cool character and he stoped from appearing in games of the DK franchise or in from any other media during at least 3 years and there was a reference about him in Super Mario Odessey, he made his full return in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a heart please I'm saying the truth, I'm not lying

You know, chrom does a lot of damage, has good advantage state, and has a bad disadvantage. Sounds kinda like the king himself don’t ya think? I’m not convinced he’s a low tier. I think he’s the third best superheavy
To be fair, nowadays few people outside of japan think he's low tier, except for people that rank like 30 chars there. Personally I'd even go as far as to rank him the 2nd best superheavy
@@StarlightSSBU after picking up k rool I’ve realized he is actually way better than I’d heard, he can (and will) completely stomp those who aren’t ready for a competent player outside of the regular noob stomping k rools online, however I do think bowser is a equal/slightly better super heavy than he is

If there's one way to make bad players quit the game... Down-throw chains. You will make them destroy their controller trying to get out.
