Retired xray technologist here. You probably know that everything in the light field is in the X-ray beam. If you back the X-ray tube up, open up the collimater so the light covers the anatomy you want to X-ray, it will increase your light field. You may have been able to get the navicular on that xray. When you back your tube up you’ll need to increase your technique. I spent my last 14 years working for orthopedic surgeons and they liked as much information as they could get.
And they got them here to pony tales❤ unfortunately many so called horse camps go around in the spring and get older horses that are kid broke for cheap work them through the summer and then sell at auction in fall so they don't pay to feed them over the winter and then begin again the next year. I don't think these horses were treated like that🎉❤
Break's my heart into a million peaces to see so many owner serenders and such beautiful horses. Poor babies, at least they are all in good hands now and will not have to worry about being sent to auction.
It makes my heart happy, knowing that the owners knew enough and loved their animals enough to surrender them to a no kill horse shelter! Why would you feel bad about that?
I wished I lived closer so I could come and hang out with all the horses makes me cry the condition some of them come to you, but you do any amazing job with every living soul that you and your team come in contact with Bless you for all you do for these Horses.
Daily work, even multiple times a day, with her to get her to trust us. She has already made a tremendous turn around from when she first arrived. She'll get there. Have faith. :-)

It would be nice, if you guys had a pasture, where your views could adopt a horse, an older horse to pay for there needs and we could get weekly photo of them. Maybe, down the line we could take them as well. I would be interested in sponsoring a horse and pay for there needs. A older horse, that just need to be a pasture horse and get good feed and health care….. something you guys should think about
That reminds me of what one of the wolf sanctuaries did, and may still do; they have webcams set up showing a couple areas of the wolves’ enclosures, and then, for X amount of money, you can sponsor the wolf of your choice. I think they sent out a certificate and a bit of wolf hair in return.
I have neurological issues, too, and sometimes walk weird because of it. I'm sure if Nadia is put on medication for this to cure this issue she will be okay.

Wish people would train and look after their horses, should be a law if they abuse animals they should go to prison. Horses are gentle and beautiful horses. I don't how people can abuse and mistreat them
What a difficult situation with Nadia. In her fear she is dangerous by hurting herself but also for people. If she isn't able to trust people, it will be a huge problem with the foal...best wishes, be careful please...
I think what happened with Nadia is that she came from an abusive home that didn't take care of her, and her old owner abused and hurt her a lot and then bred her when she wasn't ready to be mother yet which may explain why she is so fearful and afraid of other people and has had so many bad experiences with bad awful cruel people who only wanted to hurt her or do her harm. She's going to show her foal that humans are bad and to be avoided at all costs.

I had 4 horses that become more financially hard to take care of, they were loved greatly but I was able to do the hardest thing for me but the best thing for them. I gave 1 away for a family to work youngsters with. The next horse I gave away to a teenager who worked with others horses but didn't have her own horse. The people fell in love and I know they were able to provide excellent care. The used her in Is gymcana and went on to win everything that was win able. The first 2 mares were Arabians. The next was a Morgan, he was the hardest to part with. I had the addresses of all of the new owners. The Morgan is intelligent and went on to star in a music video,running in the desert and was taught to listen and perform by a whistle. So even though it was difficult, finding new good homes for them took a burden off the process. I love horses but it not in my future anymore.
@@Lynne2106 yes this! many of them looked well cared for. and for some, if a family member who owns the horse gets sick or pass, then they are suddenly saddled with a huge expense, possibly without much knowlegde. so I am happy they found their ways to Pony tales and not the slaughter pipeline

Thank you for the great work you do and rescuing horses. However, the thing that continues to frustrate me is you only show Dr Dave, giving his initial assessment, but we never see him doing follow-ups with the horses so for me that is frustrating because I like to see the vets continue on with their treatment or know what happens to the horses after that initial assessment, for example did that little old skinny horse that he was suggesting wouldn’t make it through winter outside get put down? I would like maybe less time spent on all the Long involved minutiae of the X-rays And more time, following, through on what happens to the horses after initial assessment. I would like to see Dr Dave to doing his other veterinary procedures and surgeries as well.❤❤❤🙌🏻
What do you mean by follow-ups? Generally, unless there is a surgery or skilled medical procedure that needs to be done, we do the follow-up cares on the horses per our vet. Yes, sadly, it was kindest to put her down rather than make her continue to suffer and/or go down and be unable to get up. We do show the procedures and surgeries as well. There are several videos with enucleations, castrations, stitches, etc.

Going out on a limb, here, but chances are that she wasn't bred on purpose. I was visiting my vet one day back when I was a teenager, and saw one filly that had a huge belly. I asked about her, and was told that she was pregnant. I was shocked! I mean, she was only a yearling! She wasn't even a two year old, yet. He told me that it wasn't on purpose, and that a stallion had jumped a couple of fences to get to her. Her owners didn't think she had been impregnated until it was too late. When she got close to her foaling date, they put her in his clinic just to be on the safe side. As feared, she ended up needing a cesarean section, but both came through just fine. This one's owners may not have known she was pregnant, and although they probably did know it, it's better for you to give them benefit of the doubt. It'll make you jaded if you only see the downside of people. (Trust me, I know this from experience.)
I have never owned a horse, so maybe I am naive, but are horses like used cars? When there is an issue, you get rid of it? I thought a horse would be a forever companion😢
In theory and in some studies, horses have "maternal constraint", meaning that the foal will be sized to fit the mare regardless of the sire's size. So let's hope that's a thing here where this baby doesn't get too big inside for the young mare to manage. Of course, best for babies not to have babies, but we'll pray for her gentling during the process so she can be handled, cared for & loved without so much fear.
I actually think of these people as the responsible owners. If the horses meant nothing the owners could have taken them to an auction and gotten some money for them, not giving a damn about how they were treated.

It is very sad to see but better than being sent off to auction or just being starved like a lot of horses we have all seen. I myself could never do it and I've been through some patches in my life where I have struggled but always managed to keep my horses safe and sound. They are now both 28. I am very careful about judging others before knowing anything about their situation. I do judge horse abusers and the ones that don't reach out for help.

Every horse has value as meat. I'd much rather owners brought their horses to a rescue than dump them in slaughter. These owners are doing the responsible thing by their animals. Personal circumstances are very often not sunshine and roses for the majority of people and I hope you can find some compassion in your heart for the humans who are suffering and desperate.
