For those with smart aleck comments about how Pauly does his job when he's wounded, I want to see you do it first. Or keep your opinions to yourself. I know I could not have finished the rest of the horses under the conditions he did. He's a hell of a farrier, and deserves recognition for it.
Whats up with people negging on Pauly? farriering is a tough job to begin with and a LOT of these horses have lacking experience and training making it that much harder. he's lucky he hasnt broken anything yet, but he keeps going working on the feet of horses with little to no history, that's a brave man.
you have such a great farrier, you do everything you can to keep him healthy and happy. I have seen so many that completely freak out because a horse that has never seen a farrier won't stay still. They then hit him with their tools and so on. So many horses are traumatized by farriers and only let their hooves be trimmed with strong medication. But he takes his time and is patient. Sometimes he makes impossible things possible. He also thinks outside the box and finds the best for the horse. Thank you that you can still find something like that today
@3_times_mum520 sometimes the horses haven't been handled and it's necessary. I have seen Pony Tales work with their horses to train them to stand for the farrier. Sometimes you have to medicate to get started when time doesn't allow them to wait.
@cyndiann and sometimes you should try just like Pouli, often are doing... Without drugs.. most people can't afford to have the vet on standby, every time the farrier has to come
I agree with the above statement of your amazing farrier. He has a tremendous amount of patience and empathy for those poor abused and neglected horses. He rarely throws in the towel in any case. Love his spirit 🙏🏾🩷🙏🏿💜🙏🏼💚
Any of the Magic Cushion products are excellent! We use the sole pack at night after showing. They are in a stall. Just slap some on their sole and slap a handful of shavings on top and it really calms the sole down. Since you’re so diligent about everyone’s grain, You could also get some Farriers Formula and put a couple scoops in each horses feed. It is an amazing product. For the ones that need to toughen their soles, paint them with Venice Turpentine. Pauly probably knows this. It’s a little old school but always helped my horses. They use manuka honey in Europe for thrush☺️. Love trying new remedies. Also, extra supplement that helps with weight gain without being a hot or sugary feed is Cool Calories and Coco Soya oil. Check them out. You guys do great work. Bless you😊
Thanks Paulie for all your backbreaking work. Horses couldn’t do without it. And to all the other professionals also willing to be filmed. It’s informative. Then all the other staff doing the labor-intensive and sometimes heartbreaking work. On behalf of us watching. Thank you so much! ♥
try pure tea tree essential oil on the black horse with thrush....it works like a charm! all natural and anti bacterial and anti fungal. and because a horse is so big it is safe to apply straight without dilution
The horse that he did before you looked at the computer shocked me so badly, then l cried for an hour. 😢 She looked like a mare that l had for 28 years. Thought l saw a ghost. Brought back so many many memories.❤
I hear you. My dogger. Mof, the one who looks exactly like mine that left in 16, belongs to my daughter. A rescue. Someone burned him with cigarettes and doused with gas tried to light on fire. Scars from cig burns. Sad. Hes just a puppy.
IMO, Pauly and others knew Dafney needed last act of kindness but did did not want to say it out loud. I am amazed the amount of years this team has worked to give Dafney.
Man Pauly is incredible. He literally puts his body on the line for the horses sake. I mean he doesn't have to come do the shelter, there are so few farriers I'm sure he could get plenty of work without it. But he does. He puts his body through crazy stuff so that poor mishandled horses with crappy feet can possibly have a chance at getting well. My hat goes off to him.
I've often wondered if the habit of doing hoof work in the aisles with horses in the stalls isn't counterproductive? The horse is basically hobbled during the process and surrounded by horses they most likely don't know so are anxious. Would the horses be calmer if there weren't other horses about?
I loove the chiro, she's so funny and sweet to the horses. ❤️We don't say they're old but we do comment on the uniboob 😂😂❤️🔥I hope she manifested the home that she described for the not young uniboob guy🥲🥲
God bless Pauly!!!! His nick name should be Timex; he takes a kicking and keeps on ticking!!! Got to love him! When I was young, I had stubborn horses and hard to find good patient farrier. Pauly is up for Saint hood in my book!
Pauly and all of you are great with the horses. Good family and friends are a rare thing these days. Love seeing Pauly and his kids interacting on the show.. Good dad, farrier and husband. You all are gems in my book !
There’s a channel called Homestead horsemanship. He’s dealing with a really bad case of canker on a 20 year old Clydesdale somebody gave him. The stuff he has been going through trying to cure this canker are using some type of an antibiotic tablet that 22:17 he crushes up and packs in the hoof then he then uses copper tox and uses granular copper and he packs it in the hoof. He then puts a baby diaper over it that wraps that on with vet wrap then he has a pad that they make out of duct tape I think it’s probably three or four layers thick that they put on the bottom of the hoof and wrap it up. it up he does this every other day.. The vet said it is a combination of a yeast infection and bacterial infection and that he doesn’t hold out too much hope but it seems to not be getting any worse. Anyway, you should check it out. it looks exactly like you got with that horse they call it canker or kanker i’m not sure how it’s spelled. I forgot to mention before he does all this he cleans the hoof and puts it in a big rubber bucket and soaked it for 10 minutes in strong Epson salts. He sure to clean all the tools with bleach in between hooves, so it doesn’t spread.
JR's neighbor who helped on the first wrap with Luna was in contact with Pony Tales when her horse had canker to see what they had done with Envy, the big horse Nate ended up adopting... they went the surgical route at the University to finally clear it up. Good to see the info from our fave influencers goes round and round... each case is a little different and it probably takes a whole tool box to get them right again...
Just a suggestion: have a Q&A with Pauly. I have always wanted to know 1. what was the worst injury he ever experienced dealing with horses 2. what was the most painful injury and 3. how many finger and toes he is missing (plus the stories behind each, if he doesn't mind telling them).
@19:50 - epsom salt is magnesium, which is essential for nail growth in people. Hoof is keratin too, right? So it makes sense that daily Epsoms salt soaks would grow the hoof. You might even try this on horses that are slow to grow hoof. Hoof trimmers for cows use iodine to harden up hoof. So the two things combined might be the reason her feet have grown so much.
Man. I thought Pauly was heading to the ER for a minute there. Wow. But he's got some nasty bruises after that. It's a shame so many horses weren't taught basic ground manners when they were young. It's likely the reason so many have such awful feet. They're just too difficult to deal with and people give up. I've been dreading hearing "we've done all we can, and it's not helping" with Daphne for some time now. I remember when she came in, pregnant with Miles, and everyone thought she'd have to be let go after she gave birth. It's so sad Miles didn't make it, but I'm astonished Daphne has lasted this long. It speaks volumes for the lengths you and Pauly have gone to to keep her as comfortable as possible. I'm so glad these horses got a soft landing with Pony Tales. You guys are real heroes.
Maybe you should hang a sign in the barn that says not canker lol 😂 my grandfather used to say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing you there's no substitute for actual experience and you guys have tons keep up the good work

Thank u so much for still letting me leave a comment. So many of the channels I've been subscribed to for years I can no longer comment on because I m not a member. I love watching what your group does
Thanks Pony Tales. I am hoping that a certain person who made snarky, know-it-all comments on a previous video, will eventually figure out that you are not a commercial outfit that gets paid so that all the pretty horses stay in their pretty little stalls, with shiny tack, fluffy pads and perfectly fitting saddles while they rent their horses like people rent cars or apartments. Perhaps that person needs to find out what it is like to be a Rescue. I bet she would not last one week in your shoes. I worked at the local SPCA years ago. We had nothing but volunteers. Sometimes there were many, sometimes only a couple of us to all more than 35 dogs morning and night because we had no land and no large area to let them play while we cleaned the less than adequate kennels. If one does the math, it meant these dogs of all sizes, most of them untrained to walk on a leash, would get less than 15 minutes per dog because we had many other things to take care of. Now, after many years, that no-kill shelter was able to get more financing and a new facility that houses many more dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, etc. Does it look clean and spit and polish all the time? Nope, but it is clean, safe and caring. Pony Tales has accomplished much more than many people realize. We all learn new things all the time and your accomplishments show that you have, no only learned, but are always willing to learn more and do more for the sake of those horses. Keep your heads high people!🤩
Molly has Canker is similar, but a more serious condition than thrush. Although it is rare, unlike thrush it can be difficult to solve. It is a severe bacterial/fungal infection (proliferative pododermatitis) that generally originates in the frog, and affects the heels, horn and underlying structures of the hoof
I do believe many of us do watch the same rescues and programs. Homestead Horsemenship is like others have said currently treating Clydesdale given to them with long standing bad Kancor and yes there are many different things one can try and it seems that you have to keep trying until you find the right treatment. It is a long winded time to treat, can also be pretty expensive for all the concoctions and wraps and tape etc. One thing I have learned from the whole process is it is IMPERITIVE to keep it from spreading in your barns and turnouts. ALL items used, tools, buckets etc must be cleaned with antifungal/bacterial cleaners, the stalls must be kept pristine clean, I see them using heavy duty gloves during treatment and washing hands very well afterwards. I think it has been said that even putting a horse with Kancor in the same pastures can spread it all over your place. Scary stuff and nothing to mess around with.
It’s so silly you think horses would know that the farriers their best friend RIGHT!!! 🤣My horses are completely different every time our farrier comes so we really enjoy the visits when everything goes smoothly and the farriers still smiling. Hang in there Pauly it might not seem like but the horses live your work. 🤩🤩🤩👏👏🇦🇺🇦🇺
Sometimes desensitizing horses to new equipment & joyriding in new wheels are the same thing! So glad for you - & Huckleberry! So cool 😎 riding shotgun! You are far & away my favorite TH-cam producer. Thank you for substantive content: intelligent, compassionate, humane, & instructive. ❤
My farrier had a training halter that he brought with him that really helped alot, it was a tool in trimming alot of horses needed to protect him along with getting the horses respect. I highly recommend investing in one to protect yourself along with your farrier and vet. The halter didn't hurt them it was used on a pressure and release concept. Good luck
really feel for everyone being so harshly criticised lately, especially the young girls. I think people need to start showing other people the same sympathy they show animals. Even great trainers, like Steve who everyone likes to suggest (because all they actually know are TH-camrs), make mistakes and he'd own up to them too. These girls are trying their best and learning as they go. Give them some grace and allow them to learn and gain confidence around misbehaving horses. it's not easy especially when you've seen horses behave the way I'm sure they have. at the end of the day these horses are better of at pony tales with these careers than the traders/kill buyers bidding against them, as I can take a guess none of the people complaining are there trying to buy them instead!
Paulie ,if you don't mind a sujestion or two...try the life data hoof puddy or the equine one hoof packing..it does work on horrible thursh issues..ive had tons of success with both products...their all natural ingredients..or artimer hoof puddy You can leave it in for upto 3 days before needing to clean & repack hooves...remember it's only a sujestion
Tomorrow paste and No Thrush powder after....worked wonders on my walker who had holes about an inch deep in 3 of his sulci. Took a year for them to close, but we finally healed his frogs.
Hello I hope you can save Molly If it helps I have several ponies with laminitis for a year and I used MAgic cushion for hoof wrapping it’s really working not expensive and lasts for quite some time time The only thing its sticky Might want to check it out
17:29 looks like it could maybe be hoof disease. We call it that in norway, not a term that exists that i know of. One horse at my practice place i was in had a showjumper that ended up with something called hoof disease. They had to surgically removed the middle part on all four. Was exactly like this, mushy and smelled really bad. And we couldn’t get it away ourselves and we tried for maaaany months. After the surgery this summer and they cut away all of it all the way down she is now all healthy and in competition again. Just have to have a close eye and keep it clean and healthy🤗
Boy that Walker is a good looking horse! Feel sorry for for Pauly with all those horses to look at. He earned his pay today and then some. Gnocchi that is a cute name! I really like Brooke’s as a trainer! He quite patient and he doesn’t take any nonsense!
Question? Do the yools get cleaned/dipped between horses? Especially like the one that has the unidentified hoof condition, seems that it would cut down in spread. I know a lot is dine of camera, but wasn't sure about this....
He was auction a few years ago. Pretty much a feral baby with about 3-4 auction tags on him. Meaning he bounced around to auctions since close to the time he was born :/
Please consider adding the names of the vets and chiro. Ive been watching for quite some time and still don't know their names. 😊 Now at winter times people wear jackets and hats making it a bit more difficult to see who is who (although you figure it out after a while, but still)
Could Molly's issues be a different fungal than thrush. Maybe send a sample to lab? This one is tough. Of course, Pauly is the best. I'm just curious about the odor and how the infection isn't responding to treatment. If it's fungal, maybe some cider vinegar soaks? A sample is likely best, but that can get expensive. She's such a good mare. Hope you can figure something out for her. 😢

Yes.. I have seen other rescues, that give their horses sedation, before the farrier will work

Yea it’s killing his body though. Not worth it.
This is one hard working dude. I hope his back holds up. God bless you all.
When Pauly says, "I haven't seen one that bad in a while," it's probably not a good thing, LOL. Great work, Pauly.
The three year old acts like someone put a fair amount of ground work on him
Great foundation.
The girl holding the horses for Pauly does a great job ,Pauly hope you are ok
I agree with the above statement of your amazing farrier. He has a tremendous amount of patience and empathy for those poor abused and neglected horses. He rarely throws in the towel in any case. Love his spirit 🙏🏾🩷🙏🏿💜🙏🏼💚
I love how nice the horse’s feet look after Pauly does his thing. Love his smile despite the pain. Thank God for Pauly and all of you. ❤❤❤❤❤
Your chiropracter has a lovely way with the horses. I've never seen one respond badly to her.
Freedom has such a dignified face.

The sorrel named Walker has some really nice chrome on him...
IMO, Pauly and others knew Dafney needed last act of kindness but did did not want to say it out loud. I am amazed the amount of years this team has worked to give Dafney.

Glad Pauly is okay. It’s such a physical and demanding job. You all do wonderful work, even in the most challenging of situations. 🙏
Every time I watch Pauly work I think “Ugh! I hope he gets compensated enough for early retirement!” Farrier work is rough on the body 😳
I've often wondered if the habit of doing hoof work in the aisles with horses in the stalls isn't counterproductive? The horse is basically hobbled during the process and surrounded by horses they most likely don't know so are anxious. Would the horses be calmer if there weren't other horses about?
We find that horses get more stressed out if there are no other horses around.

Happy Holidays 🎄
Happy Holidays to you too! 🎄
Okay, you see Paulie getting all sentimental with Freedom. Im guessing another stray going home to Spotted A$$ Farm😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Love me a good hoof video, sorry Paulie got auwie, hope he gets better soon
It speaks volumes for the lengths you and Pauly have gone to to keep her as comfortable as possible.
I'm so glad these horses got a soft landing with Pony Tales. You guys are real heroes.
In Australia, you know a racehorse farrier....they always take the heels right down low :(
Maybe you should hang a sign in the barn that says not canker lol 😂 my grandfather used to say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing you there's no substitute for actual experience and you guys have tons keep up the good work
Lol!
It looked briefly like Pauly was going to have a very good day where he wasn't dragged around
Merry Christmas 🎄 🤶 and a Happy Healthy New Year 🎉... love watching your videos..❤my heart goes out to the horses... ❤

Another great episode of pony tales!! I look forward to this every week!!😊❤❤❤
Great job guys on the training...
Great job everyone!! ❤
Can't wait! Loving the trailer and new music!
The the chestnut gelding with the 4 white legs and blaze he's fancy plus he's on the right leads.
Isn't he something to see?!
I love your episodes like this where you get farrier, vet and physio on the same horses

Wow you helped so many feet . Good job❤
You can tell at the end that he was really hurting because he was really limping on that injury from hitting the stand
Good luck
My horse was born with an umbilical hernia but as she got older it closed. I can't remember exactly how much older she was.

You should get Cross Ties to protect your blacksmith. Also you will be able to comfort by petting and talking to the horse.
Merry Christmas everyone ❤️ ♥️ ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉
Merry Christmas!
That is such hard work- I don’t know how they do it.
Love noki❤❤ what a great hoarse..new fav❤
Hi guys, is there a reason you don't use licks when dealing with hoofs? We found them really helpful.
We will be addressing this today. Stay tuned! ;-)
Paulie ,if you don't mind a sujestion or two...try the life data hoof puddy or the equine one hoof packing..it does work on horrible thursh issues..ive had tons of success with both products...their all natural ingredients..or artimer hoof puddy
You can leave it in for upto 3 days before needing to clean & repack hooves...remember it's only a sujestion
Tomorrow paste and No Thrush powder after....worked wonders on my walker who had holes about an inch deep in 3 of his sulci. Took a year for them to close, but we finally healed his frogs.
Was bit worried, ole side eye with Thunder. Might just turn round give Pauly a lil kiss.
I use the older rasp on the nail heads. Works well.
Many are moving toward hoof molds with a Poly Eurothane.
You are all so amazing how you handle the horses going in blind. ❤
Hello from Cedarburg.
Ashtree rehabilitation livery in the UK they have a horse in that had a mastectomy due to cancer.it was a chestnut mare
Maybe to make it easier for polly, try have a mollases lick to distract the horses so they keep still?
Has been tried and never worked here.
Hello
I hope you can save Molly
If it helps I have several ponies with laminitis for a year and I used MAgic cushion for hoof wrapping it’s really working not expensive and lasts for quite some time time
The only thing its sticky
Might want to check it out
17:29 looks like it could maybe be hoof disease.
I like Brooke too!
Uniboob 😂😂 love it ❤
Boy that Walker is a good looking horse! Feel sorry for for Pauly with all those horses to look at. He earned his pay today and then some. Gnocchi that is a cute name! I really like Brooke’s as a trainer! He quite patient and he doesn’t take any nonsense!
Absolutely love watching Pauly work! His compassion and expertise are just unmatched!
Pauly I had that same problem with my Appaloosa horse. Tried everything nothing helped.
But then I put Cytek shoes on my horse. Problem solved. 😊
❤ Rae does a great job handling those horses for Pauly. 2 man job for sure.
Question? Do the yools get cleaned/dipped between horses? Especially like the one that has the unidentified hoof condition, seems that it would cut down in spread. I know a lot is dine of camera, but wasn't sure about this....
I think it depends on the condition and if it’s like contagious or not.
But I assume they may give it a scrub or soak.
Have you tried a mix of copper sulphate and yellow sulphur on Mollys feet?
Love the trailer! Happy bday to me ( Jan 11th) lol. Merry Christmas y'all!🎄🎅🤶🦌
It’s a great trailer! So we’ll see Part 3 in January then? Something to look forward to ❤
It says this is part 3. It just doesn't start until 8 est/7central
Please let us know what the stinky hoove is. Since you all know what canker/cankas is. Doc might know. Access?
Noki is a pretty horse!! Was he a surrender or auction?
He was auction a few years ago. Pretty much a feral baby with about 3-4 auction tags on him. Meaning he bounced around to auctions since close to the time he was born :/
@@PonyTalesRefuge wow! He's such a nice horse! I'm glad you got him!!❤️
Pauly. Take on an apprentice for the wiggly ones.
Pauley needs to get some down there protection for trimming the horses
I think Gnocchi should be Brook’s horse. ♥️
Please consider adding the names of the vets and chiro. Ive been watching for quite some time and still don't know their names. 😊 Now at winter times people wear jackets and hats making it a bit more difficult to see who is who (although you figure it out after a while, but still)
My farrier always said “Smells like money to me” whenever something smelled really bad. Lol
Hi there, I just wanted to give a little tip on Molly. You should check her for canker. Good luck I hope everything works out.
Not canker.
Hi everyone ❤❤❤
@@OfficerPolaris hi
Would it be easier for yourselves an less pressure to use a mounting block. X
If you have a shoing stall your farrier should use id to protect himself.. it would help weak or unstable horses.
We have one. He uses it when he feels it is needed.
