    My dads horse had ringbone. Our vet had us put him on banamine and watch put him out in pasture for a bit. We checked in 6 months and they where fused. My dad could ride him again. We only did light trail riding at a walk. He was the only one who rode him. Senator had been a “ Big lick” horse”😢 he had the scare from the chains and the broken tail. It was sad. As a horse owner it’s so nice to see a shelter/rescue with people who actually know what they’re doing. If you’re in the horse world you know most rescues just have a lot of people who love horses but don’t understand horses. Most rescues that I’ve seen have lots of horses who need medical attention because the rescue took in too many horses and then they can’t afford vet care when they need it. These people are awesome!

      When the ponies or horses are in such pain & unfixable condition, it is so hard to put them down. But it is so much better than suffering all the time with no hope of getting better just worse. But I can tell you putting an animal down with a shot is soooo much more humane than being sent to a Slaughterhouse. I don't know if they still have the Mexico Slaughterhouse or the one in Canada on TH-cam but I did watch one video here a few years ago on a segment of the Slaughterhouse in Mexico. Once was enough for me. Totally inhumane in every aspect you can't even imagine or describe the Horror. Yet our Government will NOT stop these Kill Buyers from transporting these horses across our borders into Mexico & Canada. Back in the 1990's we were fighting, & petitioning our Congress to stop the Slaughter of horses (Wild & Domestic) completely but the best thing they would do was to stop the Slaughterhouses within the U.S. by stopping the meat inspectors from the U.S. checking the butchering of horse meat. That's called A HALF ASS JOB. And don't be fooled, many of our Western Wild horses end up in the same way, every year. Yet in 1973 Laws were put on the books in Congress that the wild horses in our Western States "were NOT TO BE HARMED OR REMOVED FROM WHERE THEY LIVE "period". But they make up excuses of not enough grasslands to sustain them all. Really? But Ranchers can run cattle on Public Lands and that's the real reason for removing the horses. So the Ranchers want the Open Range for their cattle & to hell with Our Wild Mustangs. So why don't they geld some Stallions instead? No, they are giving the Mare's shots to keep them from getting pregnant, Right???

      I appreciate them telling me why a horse is put down. I like to hear because I like being educated about different horse ailments. When some of the horses come in they "don't look that bad" so when they are put down it is sad/disappointing to hear that they are put down. By them sharing what the problem is you understand why. It is sad when a horse is put down but it is not the worse thing that could happen to them.

      @stephaniearnold2775 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No actually, if you ever willingly kill an animal, as a rescue, ANY rescue should ALWAYS explain their reasoning behind why they're using DONOR money to kill an animal. Medical issues that can't be healed? Of course end their suffering. Behavioral problems because of the stress and torture they've endured? Absolutely does NOT justify killing them. Put them back in the wild where they belong or give them to a BETTER rescue.

    • @elisabetta611
      @elisabetta611 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stephaniearnold2775 You think a traumatized, aggressive, dangerous horse can be "put back in the wild"? That's dangerously ignorant. And ANY rescue worth its salt will prioritize safety. It's the same with aggressive, dangerous dogs...once they've attacked someone they are put down. Is it sad? Yes. Is it necessary? Also yes. That's REALITY, not dream land where domesticated, violent animals can "just be set free". (They'd die a slow death btw)

    I think you guys are all Angels sent by God to help these majestic animals stay as safe as they can and be rehomed with people who will love the horses with no strings attached. Horses should be loved and enjoyed not neglected or tossed out like garbage because they don't do what you want them to do, then there are the people who sore horses and beat them when the horse doesn't want to get up because of the pain they are causing them these people are evil and should never be within sight distance of any horse. You are all angels all of you from the owners to the volunteers and i am glad there are people like you to take care of horses in this world but we need more of you for sure. Keep up the great work you are doing. God bless you all.

    This is the first time I’ve seen one of your videos. I’m shocked but also in awe of you people. I can’t understand why or how these poor animals end up at an auction. Who would normally buy them? And aren’t the owners or people selling them afraid of being done (sentenced) for animal cruelty? I just can’t believe it! But big thank you to this organisation for helping them.

    I do not normally bother to watch horse " rescue " videos for many reasons , the first being that most ( 99 % ) are extraordinarily unprofessional and extremely amateurish in their talk & walk & in their horsehusbandry / horse handling skills .
    They make me nuts !
    However , you Tawni & Et. All ., on the other hand seem to be people that I can admire .
    You seem to be spot on in your initial assessments of the horses in all areas - most are not as astute in their lameness assessments & judicious use of medications / immediate first aid , etc ...
    And " Doc " ! What a star !
    I must say that I applaud your efforts !
    You have some quite nice horses run through your fingers : as the horses move from place to place , I watch movement & even a very thin , poor horse , you can see correct skeletal structure for a performance horse .
    Those that you " Give the last kindness to " , I concurr 100 % ... you've seen some horrible things & if it weren't for you ( plural ) ... I'll say no more .
    Often I find myself cringing for the cancerous & crippled horses .
    I am a European Government Licensed Instructor & trainer, Consultant , public speaker , blah , blah , blah ...
    and as a professional horsemen throughout Europe & the USA for over 45 years , I say to you ( plural ) ;
    " Bravo ! "
    Glad you got that " well developed young man " castrated !
    Part of our problem in the USA is that any know nothing can breed a nothing mare to a nothing stallion = a nothing foal that shall end up in the killpen .
    Good God .
    Ceb .
