I am disgusted by the neglect these animals go through. Just like Pauly... I hate people! At least those people who are completely stupid and oblivious to the damage they cause. Thank goodness for all of you at Pony Tales, the vets and Pauly, for giving them a chance to live a better life. I loved to watch the difference in Bubbles when she walked away. Imagine what it will be like when her hooves are completely reshaped.
In watching this video, and many others related in content to these poor neglected equines, I think it is due to the lack of knowledge of basic care of such animals. To drive a car requires a driving licence, so why not make it contingent on owning an equine to have passed a test in equine health requirements, stabling, feeding etc. before even contemplating purchasing or looking after even what is called "a pasture pet".
I think it’s a shame that people come to the comment section to criticize or drag Pauly for how he does his job. They forget that the reason he might have to approach things aggressively or in a way that non-Ferriers might misinterpret as violent or possibly harming the horses is because the owners of these horses neglected or mistreated their animals. He is trying very hard to remedy things that “stupid people” did not do as the caretakers for these animals. I admire Pauly and the entire Pony Tail crew for their commitment to helping these animals. ❤
I’ve watched this channel a lot. I have never seen Pauline even begin to lose his cool, whatever the horse has done. At times I’ve watch and and yelled, “Ouch!” because you know that really hurt. But Pauline is stoic and never even yells at the horse whereas I would’ve given a very firm, very audible response to what a horse may have done. Go Pauline! Stay strong and safe!
once was there when a farrier got a pony mare like this little grey one. Yes, it might look "aggressive" but they have to start somewhere to correct those feet and the poor thing cannot stand well on 3 legs with those hoofes. Watch how she lifts the other hoof on her own when the first is finished? In the case I watched, the owner had just bought the little mare with foal aside from some fishy guy and refused to give the name otherwise the farrier would have gone after work to beat the crap out of that ex owner. Poor pony must have stayed in a mucky stable during pregnancy and foaling for months until her hoofes grew to ram horns. After trimming her she walked proudly and happy and not at all wild or sassy. Farriers work ist tough and often risky. Yet, they are desperately needed and the good ones deserve respect.
I hope that pregnant draft horse you have her feet start feeling a little better. She’s an absolutely beautiful horse. Hope her feet can last for another month or so.
She reminds me of another horse who was preggers when she came in with horrible feet, thanks to Paulie he trimmed her feet, kept her comfy till she had her foal, now i see she is still a resident at Pony Tales so am hoping that Paulie can work the same miracle on this draft mare too. I agree with anyone who criticizes Paulie for the job he does, you try and do his job and see how you do, walk a mile on someone elses shoes before you open your big mouths.
The other horse is still there. She was on this episode too. She’s the other horse that needs clogs. It’s daphne that was the horse that was pregnant and almost was put down. Love her so much
Lets hope her feet hold out for much longer to wean her bsby..The vet said, been know to last a couple years, and she'd be a but lighter after giving birth, as its a big baby.. fingers crossed🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🦘🦘🇦🇺
Paulie you are absolutely amazing!! That poor little pony was suffering from such severe neglect and you were given an incredible challenge to attempt to trim her hooves which were so ridiculously overgrown they were almost impossible to cut. But your tenacity and determination knows no bounds Paulie and you refused to give up until you had completed the job!!! What an achievement!! What a skilled farrier!! You have my admiration and respect!!! ❤❤❤
Your guys Ferrier is absolutely amazing. He does such a great job with the horses feet. Keep up the great work and you help out so many horses by trimming their feet.
I get the concern about prolonging the pregnant mares suffering just to deliver the baby, but if there’s a chance she can be comfortable enough to foal I think you’re obligated to try and save both their lives. This sucks foe everyone involved, but just like Dr. Kristen said, you didin’t breed her and you’re not just using her for her foal, you’re trying to salvage an impossible situation and doing your best. Nothing but respect.
Maybe Bubbles was very difficult to trim and the shoers around there couldn’t deal with it and the elderly couple didn’t know how to find anyone who could trim her. Then they got overwhelmed with illness and death. She may be continue to be tough to trim but if she stays at Pony Tales a while and Paulie gets to trim her on a regular basis, she will eventually realize trims, done on a regular basis, are no big deal.
Poor Bubbles, amazing she could reach the ground with that right hind with the amount Paulie had to take off! And Paulie deserves the libation of his choice after each hoof (but not til he's done of course 😂😂)
You have to love all the comments about the no it all's who think they know all about looking after the horse and being a farrier. i love how pauly says, Keep your comments to yourself cause he is 100 % right, they arent the ones doing it, thanks for another great video
You go Pauly. Im so tired of people that have NO idea how to take care of ill animals and especially shoeing. You have EVERY right to get angry or testy because they don't know the risks you take everyday. Your a great, gentle, caring man
Another great episode of HRTT! We love seeing Pauly work through the severe hoof challenges. For the horse that aren’t sedated but can be nervous or reactive do you ever use other calming solutions? I know Synchill(?) was popular a while back but don’t know much about it - just curious. Thanks for the whole Pony Tales Rescue team including the Vets, volunteers and supporters for all you do for these horses. 🤍
I just love the big draughties ❤ thankyou for saving so many of them. Thankyou ladies, I can't imagine how mentally taxing it must be constantly seeing and dealing with results of the neglect is. So much heartbreak. The young lady behind the camera always does a great job catching everything for us. Dr Kristen is a total gem, and of course the one of a kind Pauly. You have the dream team in horse care!
It’s so hard for these poor horses to stand for their hoof work when their feet are so bad. I’ve oftened wondered if a sling would help for some just to take the pressure off the other three feet and make it easier for Paul at all. I just know he is carrying that extra weight to help them through. He has achieved such miracles with so many of these horses it would be awful if he got hurt too badly.
Yes, the thought has occurred to me too, but I suspect that putting a horse or pony in something like a cattle crush would be a recipe for blind panic and they might injure themselves if they go crazy trying to get free. But yes, it's really hard on the farrier. Especially with a pony as tiny as Bubbles where he has to bend down so far to even reach the foot.
@R.a.p.h.a.e.l.a the stocks etc are similiar but im picturing something more like a very wide heavy duty girth that could be hitched upwards to take weight off the horses feet. Problem would be would it be too scary for the horse (especially as in a rescue you never know if they have any training at all.) I've seen similiar things used for paralysis tick recovery in Australia. It goes under the horses belly allowing them to stand on their feet and have better circulation or physio. They use the tynes on a fork to lift it. Only enough to take the horses weight while it stands. The trick would be they would need a quick release if it went wrong but if they have less traction its harder to kick generally.
You are a rescue. Rescuing an unborn foal is just as important. It isn't your fault for the condition you get these horses. Momma will at least get to know what love is before she goes. I'm a bit of a YT junkie. Physical health issues and all that. I've seen some crazy comments from some real weirdos. Unless negative comments come from donors, tell 'em................. Pauly can fill in the blanks. I was taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. It's hard to imagine that some folks just don't get it.
It just definitely breaks my heart of how ppl just Deny the care for there horses that they have! I mean really how hard is it to get connected w/ your horse and be Observant by watching and listening to them! Well you all have such a beautiful heart and soul for all these horse's to give them the help that they need to be beautiful to enjoy their life better!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow - what an awesome organization you have!!! And boy are you blessed with an awesome, compassionate, patient, professional and talented farrier!!! I don't know how he has kept from breaking his fingers or being seriously hurt! GOD BLESS HIM!!
Awe I just love watching your videos, they are so interesting and I’m learning a lot about these big giants. Your whole crew is amazing very compassionate, from the doctors to Paulie! Paulie I get very nervous for you, please stay healthy. I look forward to the next video, please do what you can to save the mare and the foul, I know you will💕
Poor Bubbles, she's probably hurting too from her feet being so bad. I could imagine her legs, neck, shoulders, and back are out of wack and hurting her. 😪 😢😢
The thing, I admire the most, about The team at Pony Tails... Is that you never leave a stone unturned... Pouly, your Wets.. and others people you are working with.. to get This beautiful animals the best and right Care... always go the extra mile... Sometime it just is, the only right decision.. 🥺 You are all a part of an amazing workforce. You have my respect and admiration 👏👏👏👏
I am so with Pauly on how he feels about people - stupid people. Aaaarrrgggghhhh! There is no excuse whatsoever to allow a sentient being to get to such a stage. Thank you for the video. x
Farriers are so brave so stoick. This one needs a medal !!! Good Job !! Team !!! Love the Names.🥰🥰😍😍 As those People Look shit after a life like that!!!! Well one of them is not here any more JJ is !! Love your vet barn !!👍 I love your Vet !!!💖
We've had good luck with cavallo trek hoof boots with memory foam insert on foundered horses. IMO works better than clogs, backward shoes, etc. just have to rasp some every 3-4 weeks. Much easier than trying to nail something on and they come in sizes from mini to draft. The boots are easy on/off and stay on with horses turned out.
Thank you for surrendering Bubbles. Janis Joplin looks and acts like she just does not feel good and in pain. Being pregnant is uncomfortable but to deal with it standing on painful feet must be terrible.
Enjoy watching your videos. I feel like I’m in the room with you all. Have so much admiration for the compassion and care you give the horses. And Pauly is so good with those horses-a combination of skill, kindness and toughness. Wish you all the best.
I commented before that I just love Pauly. Seeing him with that case of Red Bull, then him telling ppl to basically to be quite nicely. Yep he's my kinda ppl. Love & enjoy watching y'all. God bless everyone.
Another good video from you at Pony tails. Pauly should get a gold star for the work he does on those horses. And I agree whit him... I hate people that doesnt care about there horses. Whitout hooves, no horse! And Boobles... so nice to see her walk on the better hooves. Thanks for all your work you do. Love from Norway.
Poor bubbles it sounds like rocks are falling off while pauly is trimming! I wish owners would've given her up sooner knowing they couldn't care for her properly.
Watching Paulie trim Bubble's feet made my back hurt! She's so low! I am so glad Bubbles came to you. You can tell Elvis from Otis because Elivis has (was) a bigger star! ( Mom joke alert!)
I had good luck with the easycare shoe's on metabolic guy...owner said he was going threw his paces (walk ,trotin canter) 4 days ..Thank goodness for a diligent owner cout it just in time & made a great choice for his boy....
Pauly is amazing. Before I started to following you guy I couldn't even imaging that a hoof could get that overgrown. Why don't people take care of their animals?😢
I can understand the minis feet. When we had minis we couldn't find anyone willing to work on them. We had to take them to Oregon state vet school and paid a fortune, but it was worth it. Most people don't have the money
It is so sad that people get horses on a whim, cute pet, not knowing how much care it takes to ensure a good life, horses feet are a critical care point, standing all the time, mud, rough roads and ignorance lead to poor feet and big pain and issues, is hard to see!
From being involved in thoroughbred racing I can tell you that if the intention is for them to go to the track, they have a rider on their backs for the first time at about 15-18 months.
I look at it this way... wouldn't a human mother do anything to save her baby, including suffer herself? Exactly! This horse mom may not be able to speak words, but they love their children too, and giving the babies a chance at life is always a good mother's goal, sacrifice or not! Unless the mother is so bad health wise that she's beyond tolerating living, it's always worth giving that baby a chance to survive.
I'm glad Pauly spoke u for himself and explained why he didn't let go of the nippers.. They were locked into Daphne's hoof.. just imagine letting go, and she outs her foot down, and they dig right into the middle of her foot or get thrown ANYWHERE..if they can do better maybe they should come and give it a try..!! Great he got a 'care' package too 😂..Poor Janis Joplin she is still painful ableit not as bad . And Miss Sugarplum wahey..!! Great news..only a tiny bit of live abcess in 1 foot not all 4..l get so upset thinking about that absolutely gorgeous draft being bredvand in so much pain..hopefully the daily pain meds will start to help..but at the moment she still is crippled when she walks..fingers crossed 🤞 that it will help if Pauly can actually get them off..to do that she will need to stand on 3 bad feet ..I'm sure we'll see that in the next video..the new intake are stunning..just one with 'issues ' but not sure if that one was a surrender or not.. poor Bubbles.. Those hooves were absolutely horrendous..how Pauly actually cut them iff l don't know..must have hurt like hell that night for using his muscles..he'd have needed his care package thats for sure..she's still walking weird by lifting her feet up..she doesn't realise she can walk normally now..a case in progress..can't wait for part 2.. 🇬🇧💕✝️🙏👍👏👍👏🐕🐾🐎🐴🐎
@@terrifiorelli9819 any work with animals having 1 to 10 mass advantage on you is dangerous. They can kill you and you can never ever forget that. Even the friendliest of them can by accident. We had a lady killed here by her own well behaved horse. She was so sure of her that she tied the lead rope around her waist and went to walk her. Horse returned home totally spooked dragging her dead body...
Omg ..so you think there’s a chance of him damaging a leg on CAMERA…are you kidding,, now wouldn’t that be a career ending move…people never think before they speak
It would be nice if you could take the tags off. Give them a quick brush, and wash their feet. I, am not criticizing the wonderful work all of you do for these horses, it's amazing. The world needs more people like your selves. Pauly is incredible. He really knows his profession. Once again, there should be more farriers and vets with the knowledge acquired by them.🙏Thank You. ❤❤❤❤
Leaving us with this cliffhanger! damn! I really hope her hooves are well enough to get her as painfree as possible. So she can deliver her foal and maybe even spend quality time with it for as long as she can manage without it getting too bad. Poor little girl, she is so sweet even with everything going on, it is always hard to believe in humanity when I see such a thing. But on the other hand, I see you people and I know there is still good. Bubbles I hope that little pony will be much better now and the bones, legs and hoove structures can finally heal. They will surely be sore for a while till they get used to having much better fitting shoes now. Lucky they are still fairly young with 10, raises the chance for the hooves and bones to get back into form after some time.
awesome news for plum! best hopes for the mare good to have the Dr give a sounding on the plan for her. bubbles wow if I recall the story one owner in hospital they got out just in time for spouse to go to hospice its sad bubbles had to be left untended for so long given the circumstance very happy that something was done even if we wish it had been far sooner better than far later
I was thinking the same thing. I used to have goats and most of them would let me trim their feet no problem, but I had a few wild ones I would lock in my homemade milking stand and get someone to help hold them still. If I didn't have anyone, I'd tie their feet to the legs of the stand and untie and retie each one as I work on it. Building a little stock would work better for horses to keep them from swinging to the side, and I think wood would be strong enough for such a little horse. You could build it like a milking stand with sides so they'd even be raised up a bit to help save your back.
With a horse like Bubbles would a sturdy rubber matt help her to keep her footing and balance during being shod. It looked to me that her main issue during that process was keeping her balance. She seemed remarkedly patient otherwise.
Great video and super stoked that I am lucky number 94 to like this video. I have liked, now written with a comment and have shared this so more people can find and help them. Hugs from Esquimalt
For the pony, I believe that Bubbles was an owner surrender because of medical challenges from first one partner and then another..... both overwhelmed. Hugs from Esquimalt and you are doing an amazing job!
Somebody needs to say it, Pauly. Sorry that it falls to you a lot of the time, but since you're seeing it, feeling it, smelling it up close, & beating up your body while attempting to undo the previous owners neglect, you've more than earned the right to.
Paulie needs to eat more Wheaties 🥰! God bless all of you for what you do. Question for Paulie, how often should you have your horse done and are shoes required for grass riding?
I dare anyone to " rake you over the coals" for trying to save the foal and hopefully Janice too. I don’t want anyone or animal to suffer, or to be honest insect. I said before, though pain is hard to define. I have kidney failure and nerve damage in my remaining kidney after a nephrostomy bag. I get renal colic, according to the doctor, one of the worst pains you can get. I will be honest when it started, I didn't think I could live in such horrendous pain. Now, I had forgotten what being pain free is, until I recently had a spinal anaesthetic. Being in pain is my " normal" the same as for Janice. She is on pain medication and I am sure now far more "comfortable" than she's been for months. Hopefully clogs will help too. You are doing exactly the right thing trying to save the foal, and who knows, once its born miracles do happen. On my previous post I was told I was naive, but I am definitely not so. I havent reached almist sixty years old without seeing miracles happen and I am praying for one for Janice xx
Omg, Bubbles... it's going to take time for her to relearn how to walk on normal-ish feet again. I'm appalled that all the humans around her did nothing to help for as long as it took for her feet to get like that. "I better pour sand in my boots, or my little ass'll blow away." BAHAHAHAHA! Pauly. 🤣
It is a shame that some race that can not be built for mini ponies that need to have the hoofs trimmed that can have all four hoof in the airthat is safe for horse and the farrier like the stock's for the draft horses why not see if you can get one that can take mini ponies and normal size horses so that you can tie their legs up and keep them in one spot that way pauli will not get hurt
Poor bubblessssss omg i teared up a little seeing not be able to stand 😢 i know its not her fault shes actually being very very good despit not being able to stand up.
Paula, I watched a blacksmith remove all the nails one at a time to remove shoes. He said he does it so he does not twist the horses foot and cause damage to the ankle area…know that’s not the accurate name for the horses body parts. What is your thinking on this removal process? Thanks
There so many inhumane no good people in this world, that shouldn’t be allowed to have any Animals.f only there was a. Law that could be imposed on them. Ignorance my foot uncaring is what is happening.❤😊 such a dear little pony❤😮😊

Poor Bubbles she's very patient with the farrier
Well said!
Phenomenal news about Sugar Plum, I really like that pretty little horse ❤
You are the only rescue crew, farrier, vet, all of it that I consider real rescue. Congratulations for coming this far!

Lil bubbles gonna be feeling like a different steed after that!! Shes doing a good job. Poor critter.
Poor mini, she needed basic hoof care. If people can't even look after a mini don't have one. That just pathetic how the feet and hoofs are.

I so appreciate the efforts you all and Pouly go to to save the poor horses and their feet.
Thank you for sharing your success
Thank you for surrendering Bubbles. Janis Joplin looks and acts like she just does not feel good and in pain. Being pregnant is uncomfortable but to deal with it standing on painful feet must be terrible.
Enjoy watching your videos. I feel like I’m in the room with you all. Have so much admiration for the compassion and care you give the horses. And Pauly is so good with those horses-a combination of skill, kindness and toughness. Wish you all the best.
Pauly is awesome 😎😎
Such good work. Best of luck with the group. Thank you for sharing.🐴
Poor Bubbles. Some ponies are just mean but she just looked so confused. She wasn't trying to be bad, she just didn't know what was going on. 😢
I was glad to see Sugarplum doing so well in her 4 weeks of care!!!!
It’s so neat all the new improvements they made for horses feet
I really enjoy seeing the farrier and vets and everyone more than once a week. Please keep it up.😉
I commented before that I just love Pauly. Seeing him with that case of Red Bull, then him telling ppl to basically to be quite nicely. Yep he's my kinda ppl. Love & enjoy watching y'all. God bless everyone.
You tell em Pauly! Tell those keyboard jockeys 😂
Well said regarding negative comments from armchair experts.😡🤐
❤🐎
As always I appreciate y'all and GO PAULY! TELL EM LIKE IT IS!😜💯🙏💛
Watching Paulie trim Bubble's feet made my back hurt! She's so low! I am so glad Bubbles came to you. You can tell Elvis from Otis because Elivis has (was) a bigger star! ( Mom joke alert!)
I agree with Pauly! I have seen so many awful things in 50 + years of having horses, I hate people also!
Yeah Pauly I agree, some people suck. Poor babies.
Pauly is amazing, you are so luck to get such a good farrier.
You tell 'em, Pauly!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Everyone click that like button !!!!
Hello everyone at Pony Tales of Thundra!😊❤❤❤
They have those neat silicone ones now too
I had good luck with the easycare shoe's on metabolic guy...owner said he was going threw his paces (walk ,trotin canter) 4 days ..Thank goodness for a diligent owner cout it just in time & made a great choice for his boy....
Pauly is amazing. Before I started to following you guy I couldn't even imaging that a hoof could get that overgrown. Why don't people take care of their animals?😢
You have been blessed with an exceptional farrier.
I can understand the minis feet. When we had minis we couldn't find anyone willing to work on them. We had to take them to Oregon state vet school and paid a fortune, but it was worth it. Most people don't have the money
Keeping Janis in my prayers
I think the courts should heavily fine owners for this type of neglect. And they should not be allowed to own animals again.
It is so sad that people get horses on a whim, cute pet, not knowing how much care it takes to ensure a good life, horses feet are a critical care point, standing all the time, mud, rough roads and ignorance lead to poor feet and big pain and issues, is hard to see!
Love you guys I have been watching you grow ❤️ ❤ when you had stalls in the machine shop love you guys ❤❤❤❤❤
From being involved in thoroughbred racing I can tell you that if the intention is for them to go to the track, they have a rider on their backs for the first time at about 15-18 months.
The suspense of it all! : )
Is she even going to be able to enjoy her baby, or are they going to take it off her straight away. Not sure what any mom would have to say about that
I just love pauly, he and I agree on everything, I hate people too, a big hug for pauly!!!! Lynn75 thanks in Missouri
That went by so quick!
Farrier work is hard and dangerous.
Oh my goodness....
that farrier looks like hes gonna break the poor ponys leg
Omg ..so you think there’s a chance of him damaging a leg on CAMERA…are you kidding,, now wouldn’t that be a career ending move…people never think before they speak
It would be nice if you could take the tags off. Give them a quick brush, and wash their feet. I, am not criticizing the wonderful work all of you do for these horses, it's amazing. The world needs more people like your selves. Pauly is incredible. He really knows his profession. Once again, there should be more farriers and vets with the knowledge acquired by them.🙏Thank You. ❤❤❤❤
Once they have seen the vet and they have been named, we take the tags off. In order to know who is who prior to their naming, we keep the tags on!
Those little mini beat Pauly a ran 4 his money butt he's a darn good guy &really care about horse 🐎 feet s
Have you thought about using the same glue they use for attaching blocks for cows
I think you need to build a stock for the minis. The belly bands might help them feel more secure.
She was on one.
Thanks again❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍watching every episode God Bless
Pauly. 🤣
Does anyone know what happened to Garfield the cat? I haven't seen him for a while.
Sadly, we haven't either. We are hoping he is out sewing his wild oats and will return soon. :-/
Can you glue the clogs instead of nailing?
Poor bubblessssss omg i teared up a little seeing not be able to stand 😢 i know its not her fault shes actually being very very good despit not being able to stand up.
Pauly is priceless ♡♡♡
Pauley needs an ass shield. Just jokeing. I love him. He is great.
I would love to see Bubbles shampooed, brushed, mane and tail dealt with ….shes so cute
Pauley, what's your opinion on hoof supplements?
Paula, I watched a blacksmith remove all the nails one at a time to remove shoes. He said he does it so he does not twist the horses foot and cause damage to the ankle area…know that’s not the accurate name for the horses body parts. What is your thinking on this removal process? Thanks
Add to your comment regarding human s- financially selfish and coldhearted
There so many inhumane no good people in this world, that shouldn’t be allowed to have any Animals.f only there was a. Law that could be imposed on them. Ignorance my foot uncaring is what is happening.❤😊 such a dear little pony❤😮😊
