I will say one thing, ALL of you who live there, and work outside in the wickedly cold temps caring for these animals are some tough cookies. Your amazing vets, farrier, and whomever comes there to work or volunteer deserves my respect!
Thank you so much! We have the best crew!
@@claudiadickerman4218 Yes!!! They’ve certainly Earned it 😊❤️
Crawling through snow banks to feed my horse is Sooo bad I laugh. Ridiculous amount of suffering and fear that my body won’t be found until Spring. . . He has a heated water trough and his own round bale,-- but my big boy Needs His Grain & Beet Pulp!!!
If they find my frozen body,-- I’ll have a smile on my face.
OUCH!!!
I was thinking how wonderful it is that Bobby McGee will never know fear or pain. Just good handling and kind training. Of all the horses you care for, hes a miracle that way.❤❤❤
Happy 2025 pony tails rescue
I want to say a huge sincere thank you to Brooke for the way he works with the horses.
@@kimcordwell3804 Seriously!!!
Brook has a way of interacting with the horses that is second to none. Pauli just cracks me up 😂. He's a unicorn for sure. I just love this channel. I wait every day ti see the rescue horses and the adoptions. A horse has a unique personality and soul. God bless ya'll for all you do!❤❤❤
Your vet is pretty Awesome.
Thank you!
It's so adorable and so fitting that Bobby has a star that looks so much like his foster mom's!
Missed you guys 😊Glad you’re back.❤️🐴😊
I’ll NEVER understand how Farrier’s backs survive this important profession for more than a year or two!!!!!
It hurts MY Back just watching from even my strongest youth,- until Now!!
Admirable.
Such a crucially Important job in the overall welfare of horses.
They have to learn Sooo Much about anatomy, and the Math and Architectural components in aiding and correcting a horses feet.
No feet, no horse.
Kudos Pauli.
Beyond impressive.
I Love how that young man was able to explain the Haflinger’s (??) behavior to the farrier.
He has the Gift of connecting with horses.
Impressive.
@ I’d be seriously interested in why you say that,-- I’m learning Every Day until I’m dead 😊
Sincere request.
lol I love watching Pauly with the horses
Bobby will grow into a well mannered Horse with all your loving care.
I always love the expression from Pauly. So much respect for him. But he makes me laugh. 😅😂
Brooke is an authentic horseman!!!!
Your videos have been missed!!!!!
Yay! Good to see all of you! Happy 2025. I thought I saw all of you on horse plus a while back and they showed the video where you won the first grant. Well deserved. So much compassion fatigue in what you do, thanks for loving each horse no matter what
You guys are amazing! Thank you for all you sweet people do to help these beauties! Love you all! Happy new year!
Brooke is so kind. All of you are! It's very moving to watch how gentle everyone is with the horses. Knowing what some of these horses have endured breaks my heart but it's wonderful knowing that they can heal thanks to you. Always a fan!
Great job everyone and especially brook and Pauly 🥰
tip for your vet doc. you could also look under the horse with a mirror, with a handle. 🤓😉
Well done team… lucky horses they arrived at your door!

What a lovely bunch of caring and talented people you are. I’m blown away by your knowledgeable dedication to rescuing these horses. New subscriber here. Happy 2025 to you all.
Thank you! So good to have you here. :-)
For the appy gelding - I've had very good luck adding marshmallow root powder to feed for my old gal with fecal water syndrome. (Of course after ruling out other issues)
Yes we missed you. I hope you had a nice holiday xx
We missed you all too! 😊
Those two surrenders at the end are gorgeous!
How does Pauly keep from having severe back problems? Wow! Miss Bella is absolutely beautiful. Would love to have her.
Right? She is STUNNING - & I can't wait to know more about the 2 new Quarter Horses. I bet Peptoboonsmal is in "Boone's" pedigree.
❤ Pauly wish he had his own channel so we can follow him
Exciting to watch Brooke, Dr. Pillman, and Pauly work with the horses. You never know what's going to happen next.

🙋♀️🌞🌻
Thank you! You too!
Finaly you are back. So nice to see Pauly doing draftshorses whitout the stock. I feel so sorry for drafts being treathed so bad at the amish. Wy? Beautiful kind giants. How do I find Paulys channel? Thanks for being there for those horses.
Thank you! Pauly does not have a channel though. Sorry. We try to tell him to start one. Lol
Prayers, stay warm and safe 🙏 ❤️
Hello from Michigan! The mitten!
Hello!
I have so much admiration for Pauly, I wouldn't do his job if I were to be paid in gold bars!
It is hard to see and understand the fear the drafts have of having their hooves done. What they must have suffered throughout their lives. It is so against their sweet nature.
I hate watching, it’s always such a fight, it’s heartbreaking.
oooo, it looks so darn cold there!!
Pauli is just a treasure. So patient.
He truly is!
I love little Bobby so cute and seems to be growing well bless him ! So lovely to see Pauli he loves the horses so much !
Wow I Have Missed you lot xxx
Maybe a diet with soaked senior food or beet pulp soaked and include probiotics. I don’t know. Your vet I guess made some suggestions off camera? Good luck. It’s so sad to see them struggle.
Seriously? Where did you attend vet school?
Welcome back. How was everyone's holidays? It looks like the rescues did well. Bobby Mcgee is getting big like his mama.
Pauli is a super hero
You are really very good!!!! Bravissimi!
Thank you so much 😀
Happy 2025 to all of you amazing people at Pony Tales Refuge, Pauli and the veterinarian team too, have a wonderful New Year guys 🫶🏻, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
wow I feel for you guys, it looks so cold! Hopefully it warms up soon again. Keep up your good work.
It sure does get cold out here!
Did u see envy give bobby McGee the mare ears…he then settled. Well done 'mum'!
Pony Tail! You are all amazing! ❤❤
Brooke is really amazing.
That poor horses eye 💔💔💔❤️❤️
❤❤❤
Pauli certainly got a workout on This day for sure. . .
Happy new year and lots of rescues 😊 🎆
Happy new year!
Respect to Pauly, I have already backpain just by seeing his work 🙄
I enjoyed the entire video. Got to see many horses and hear all the updates everyone had to offer. So many lovely horses too. Your hard work is showing!!
Bobby is getting curly behind-must have some poodle in him!❤
Bobby's curls are the cutest! 😊
The sound is okay once the adoptions get on the trailer and once Pauly is on.
Good work 😊 in round pen.
Happy you are back
Pauly, you forgot to tell him hes pretty😂😂😂
Pudden, what’s happening with his back hoofs that looked really bad, does that white part grow back?
While in stocks , try to give them something else to think of. Try hay or little bites of grain. That will take the thought of the hoof being done. Love your show. I cry with you.
Be sure to watch tomorrow's video. ;-)
Better hang on to Brooke!
That last mare?!? Completely ignoring the human in the pen with her.
There’s some work There.
She’s quite beautiful though 😊❤
👍🐎👍🐎👍
Do you have heat in the barn?
Sadly, no.
Love your hat I have the same exact one except its a lighter gray. Temu love that app. Love what you guys do. Keep it up.❤
I wondered if, in the veterinary world, if they have started to do eye transplants. Poor Lurch is so young and would benefit from an eye transplant, especially since the rest of her is sound. It would be so sad for her to lose her sight.
The Amish will also use nose twitches or twist an ear to get the drafts to stand still
I read somewhere that the Amish field horses just didn't even get done because they were field horses so they didn't bother with them
Why don't you make a farrier reward bowl for the horses? Just put some concentrated feed, apples (chopped up) and honey or something like that in a bowl. You then use this with horses that hardly let you touch them, are afraid of the farrier, etc. And with every small step in the right and desired direction, let the horse or pony go to the bowl once, where it can snatch something tasty out. If it doesn't behave, your farrier is given a bowl (the horse has to see it) that looks the same but is filled with other tasty things like chocolate, etc. We've had huge success with it. The horses usually understand the game very quickly and ensure that the farrier doesn't get too fat. The first small wins that the horse can achieve should be easy to achieve, even if it's just a stroke on the bottom. Then you go a little further where you know it won't work and the farrier gets the reward. Then you make sure that the horse wins and do that 3 or 4 times. After that it should work and the farrier just loses. So everyone wins in the end. The farrier who doesn't get fat or get heartburn, the horse that was able to eat the tasty bowl and has its hooves ready and all the others who get to watch the fun around the bowl. Just give it a try.
That could be interesting to try!
@@PonyTalesRefuge It is only important that the honey is used to stick the oats and so on to the edge and bottom of the bowl. Cut up carrots and apples in the middle so that they mainly eat from them. It is also important that only the farrier or whoever is trying to lift their hooves touches the bowls. Otherwise they start begging and other behavior that nobody wants.
What would you guys do with Pauly? He is a cornball sometimes! LOL!
Ella is so pretty, sort of has an Arabian look. Always enjoy your videos. Would a change in diet help the white horse with top line issues ? Blessings ❄️🐎❄️
Anybody else having sound issues?
Yep
Many found we had to close out of app/refresh and then it all worked better.
@ yes when I saw that I did the same and everything was perfect. Thanks for another great video. You guys worked so hard for those horses.
why do you not give sedation for work on the difficult horses for ferrier work? Horse plus always gives sedation for protection of everyone who has to work with the horse
I always wondered that myself 😅
Horse plus always has vets there. The vet isn't always at pony tails.
I think they do sedate horses sometimes for feet, at least they have in previous videos. I try to remember that a video is just a moment bin time, and I might not be seeing everything that these good folks are doing for the horses.❤❤
They do.
They do sedate sometimes.
Why don’t you use glue on shoes for the horses missing hoof wall? They’re brilliant for those types of situations. Is there a reason why Paulie doesn’t use them?
You can find Pauly discussing how he feels about glue on shoes in previous videos! I believe he discusses it in our live video!
I wish that Someday we can all change the language from “Breaking” a horse (with all its historic brutality),-- to Level of Training.
Seems it would be So Much easier to grade a horse By Level of training, and the skills that are Solid and Learned.
Level #1)- Halter, lead safe, picking up feet, etc.
Level #2)- Groundwork, Lunging, and Well executed Connections, add ons from experienced horsemen/women.
And so on from Experts.
Just MY thoughts. . .
I’ve seen it referred to as ‘halter trained’ (what you call level 1, i.e. halter broke), and the process of ‘breaking’ is also known as ‘gentling’.
I've use the word, "Starting" Just 2 syllables (same as Breaking) ➡for decades😊

Get someone to build stock's for the smaller horses the same as the bigger ones just one set for the smaller breeds
The sound goes off and on through the clip.
Many found we had to close out of app/refresh and then it all worked better.
Im a fan of your organization, but I wish you guys filmed more like horse plus. Show us more horses and more of the rescue and adoptions rather than basically whole episodes on farrier or vet
Thank you. We are working on getting other footage out. We do not have a media team and we are all pulled different directions each day. :-)
What all your donations get you dancing.
What??
Have you put duck tape on there nose 2 distracted 4 horses 🐎
We have. Maybe worked on 1 out of more than 1200. Lol
No sense trying to pull a horse out of the trailer. Put a little hay on the ground then allow him to step out for himself .
What’s wrong with the sound?
Many found we had to close out of app/refresh and then it all worked better.
I pray the horse with the “ouch ouchy” feet gets some pain meds until he can get those feet feeling better!and if y’all can’t then the last act of kindness would be the thing to do for her! A horse shouldn’t have to walk like that!
Brooke does such a good job with these horses! I wonder if you have watched the Steve young horsemanship videos, they are worth watching and seeing how he controls the horses feet to get to their minds. Have used this method on my young horses and works so well 😊
What the heck, your stopping in the middle of every case. Dr and ferrier. What was wrong with the front hoof of the one who had the abcess
Complain much?
Sorry. If the footage doesn't get recorded, there is nothing to share. It is an issue we run into, but we do not have a dedicated media staff and often we are all pulled in different directions at once. We do try.
Fix the sound and repost the video
Who do you think you are to be giving orders?
Many found we had to close out of app/refresh and then it all worked better.
Why do you guys constantly bad mouth the amish? Not all amish are the same. It's unnecessary to lump them all together. It's no different than the "english" who neglect horses and take them to auction or drop them off there. Most in the amish community are wonderful with their horses. How many horses do you receive from the "english" that won't stand still and freak out? The biggest problem is lack of training.
We don't "constantly" bad mouth them and if you watch our videos, very often we clarify that not all Amish are the same. However, the horses we get from the auctions (primarily Amish sellers) are in bad shape because of the care they received or lack thereof. So, no. Not "all" are bad, but there are many that are and sadly, those are most often the horses that end up here from auction.
I have never seen a Amish family taking good care of their horses, it's just very rare. They often get treated like machines and it shows how much trauma the horses have received. Ofc not every Amish is bad but there are always exceptions. There is a reason why a lot of people dislike" the Amish, it's not for nothing. Keep that in mind too.
@dark-shadow_ I've seen way more "english" ruin horses than the amish.
