Superb video - but it is quite easy to do without removing the wheel. Took me about 15 minutes.

Very helpful video. I really appreciated the diagrams inserted in the video next to the actual parts. I've never tried this before and rarely work on my own car aside from oil changes and lights. As with others I had difficulty locating the pivot bolt nut and ended up jacking the car up and getting it from the bottom with a 14mm socket. It wasnt very clear in the video exactly where it was and how to attack it. For anyone interested it's on the backside of the alternator. In the videos defence it showed the power cable of the alternator which is only located on the back. Sadly I didn't actually know what the alternator looked like all around. I also didn't take off the tire but did remove the plastic shroud by turning the wheel all the way right for access. My car drives again with no belt squeak so I call this a success. Couldn't have done it without your video. Thanks so much.

Great video, invaluable as a guide for doing the belts on my 2005 Lancer Equippe 1.6L 16v (4G18?). Some slight variations though, such as no tensioner pulley on the PAS belt - instead there are 14mm bolts which need to be loosen through the actual PAS pulley itself, which acts as the tensioner.
Alternator pivot pulley was hardest, but accessing through the wheel well with a long wrench extension got it loosened.

Taking the wheel off gives easier access to the pulleys. The pivot bolt was the most difficult step for me. It's hard to reach. I got it from under the car. Thanks for the vid.

Very helpful video. On my Lancer 2002, I followed the steps you showed but after I started the engine I hear a slight knocking noise (not coming from the engine but from the belt area). Do you think the tensioner should be replaced as well? Thanks.

Today, after replacing both of these belts on my '06 Lancer (2.0L engine) on the emergency lane of a highway, I can surely say that there is no need to lift the car up or to remove the tire. Whole process took less than an hour and it was mostly due to it being night time, having no flashlight other than the phones weak flash.
    ~30$ for the belts
    ~2$ wd40
    ~20$ wrench set

My belt broke, can I slip a new belt on with minimal effort? Do I need to take off steering/AC to just put a belt on?

How do you know on the last part about tightening with torque, how to do it if you don’t understand that formula you put up??? I didn’t understand it and have to put a both belts on my car now since my alternator one broke. It’s was making a loud whining noise for a while but it was on & off! Finally broke today. I just don’t know how to do the torque right on the last 2 things. And I’m having to buy one the testers too.

On your tension spec for both belts I notice it says "132-176 N (lbs)"
I'm confused by your parentheses. Are these Newton's or foot pounds. I'm from the USA and have the same car. Cheers bud, I hope you reply.
