  • In this video, I replace the alternator o my 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer. previously the starter had failed on me and to ensure that the system is up to date, I decided to replace the alternator as well. This whole process is rather easy to follow out as there is not that much that retains the alternator into place. Overall if there was a rating, it would be rated about a five on the difficulty scale. Well, I hope this video aided in replacement of your 2002 Lancer alternator, and if you haven't done already don't forget to comment, like, and subscribe. It looks good as this college student is able to continue working on cars and completing college. Thx and have fun!

I Just want to personally thank you for posting your workings on this lancer. I have the exact same car and it’s falling apart on me. I’ve seen almost all your videos and they’ve all helped me do my own repairs. Including this one. If you ever crack open the engine or tranny at all, definitely post it for me. I’ve done almost everything on this thing except rebuild the engine. And some suspension on it. So every video you post no matter how small helps. I need help replacing all the locks on the doors and trunk as the key has snapped off and needs new locks and key haha. as well as fixing my hood latch/cable and trunk cable as they no longer work either. Along with the cigarette lighter port. Everrryyy little video you post on Here no matter how small a job. Helps me out a ton! so thanks again and keepm coming 😬🤘🏼

Thanks for creating this video - it’s the best I found for my ‘04 ES too. Question, does the 14mm tension belt bolt up front need to be loosened and belt removed too, or do you think the alternator’s adjusting brace and 14mm pivot bolt once loosen could get its belt off to replace the alternator?

Do you have to loosen the 14 on front of the pulley of the tensioner before unscrewing the side 14 opposite the radiator?

@@Alexa_Spencer Thanks, Got a 0401 I have not been able to get rid of myself. Also thanks for giving me the courage to do my engine mounts... It was an absolute nightmare but I did it myself!

Hey ... do you still have this car?

Yes I do! I still drive it everyday with its lack of a trunk and a board for a floor, and after doing the brakes two weeks ago it just drove the 3 hour drive north to Grand Rapids. I’ve kept this vehicle running well past the point where many others would have abandoned it and had carried me through my school years and to the doctors visit (just had surgery) and even on many out of state roads trips.

your camera is in too close, i can't see where you are working. id suggest doing a further away shot, to establish viewers as to where you are and where the parts are in the car, then getting in close to do the work. And when you get in close, keep still, so that your video isn't feeling like you're on a boat with big waves. hold it still! Do these things and id happily follow you, you look like you know what you;re doing
