Use the spacer. For two reasons: that flange looks more level than above the floor line and the foam spacer ring will compress under the weight of the toilet and hardware securing it to the flange.
we used this product and have odors. We'll be replacing it with a wax ring. is this something you would NOT use if you have a septic system? People connected to the city wouldn't have the issue of odor; I'm guessing.
Not a great product. Initially it works however after a about half a year the rubber skirts disintegrates, starts to shrink and causes restrictions and starts to cause plugging.
