I've been enjoying it, and I got a friend to finally try the game out with me for the event. I don't know if the extra drops are adding to his fun, but there's more than enough to split between the two of us, and at least he has a lot of crafting currency to waste and figure things out with that he probably wouldn't have under normal circumstances.

I’ve been arguing since I started playing this game that SSF is a pointless mode because all you have to do is NOT TRADE and you’re in “SSF mode.” ** Unless there are achievements specific to SSF to unlock. I know some people like chasing achievements. The only reason to have SSF as a game mode is (a) to prove to others you’re playing that way - which is only relevant for bragging rights - and (b) to force yourself to play that way if you lack the self control to not “cheat” and trade every now and then. If that’s you, then hey, good thing for you it exists. Not hating on you. (** I’m not trying to get it removed or anything-it just seems pointless on principle. Just the opinion of an internet nobody.)

Another fun BUT: Lantern Mods, rolled every hour, are different on console than on PC. Not only does this mean all of the different resources or discord chats around lantern mods do not apply to the generally more casual group, but at this time Div Lantern mods are believed to not even exist on console . As such, divine orbs are actively selling anywhere between 500 and 1000 chaos orb. I have not seen any Div Lanterns yet, but I do not think they are a myth. Personally, U believe there is far fewer players, much less organization and resources, and anyone who is finding them are not sharing the details to ensure their divine orbs have the maximum buying potential.
That’s the thing, the whole “wait for poe2” is kind of a shit point to make because it’s not the full game, and not everyone is getting access to it. So the people who’re not getting to play it just got shafted.
Yep! I personally don’t give a flying fat duck about POE 2, in fact I annoys me that it’s even called POE 2…. It’s their take on a dark souls like ARPG, thus making it a completely different game besides the lore.
@@sharochamen homie I was all for poe2 when it was just poe that we have now but better and was just another choice in campaign and both games met at the same maps and no more fuses and less sockets on gear making gems linked like gear is now linked you could find a 4 link fire ball and Later on a 6 link fire ball once they strayed away from this original idea for poe2 I lost all interest in it

This event has been the best SSF experience ive had in a while. I strongly recommend people to try it. Specially because in SSF you learn a lot, instead of buy your entire gear
You do realize the drops are balanced around trading right? Like, the drops are the way they are with likelihood of whatever dropping or lack there of because of the existance trading. SSF is inherently a handicap.
6:49 Wow, I just realized why those websites seemed to have conflicting data, some people were probably seeing them with the right map rolls while others didn’t have those map rolls and were giving them the 💩 response. Assumed there were a bunch of trolls, but it was probably this.
I bailed on the SoK league after 3 days because I felt being time-gated with Kingsmarch made me feel forced to login or play longer. The FOMO effect was too much so I didn't want to invest time. However I was ready for the PoE2 beta so fell into rolling a new char for this mid-league event. Instead of my usual build I went with a zoomancer. Something I haven't played since the Baron helmet was meta. It's been fairly slow for me, I'm not in red maps yet when I usually am done with atlas by now, but it's been less stress and I've played it more like a solo self found. That way the economy race hasn't been my focus. It's been different, fun too.
I heard the same from a few people. This is interesting to me. I never realized how many people suffer from psychological issues similar to addiction that prevents them from simply playing when you can and how you can. People saying they felt like they had to login in the middle of the night to keep turning over shipments and such. It’s interesting because the same situation exists simply with mapping too. Someone mapping for 12 hours a day is getting more than you if you’re mapping for 2 hours a day. How come that doesn’t give the same feeling? Why is the level of mental resiliency different there?
Not sure how that works exactly but the player number on poe ninja is probably far less than the actual number of players. At least for me in last 3 leagues or so I always have to add there my character manually even though being high on the ladder. So I'd say many players that don't know or just don't care about poe ninja are not listed there
What I dislike the most about this league is that I intentionally try to avoid the popular strats in a league. I don’t like spending divs per map and hoping I get a net gain. Even if it’s less net, I go for strats that maximize margins instead. Just feels better to me. Anyway… it just so happens that this league lines up my preferred strats with what’s popular for the mechanic, so the scarabs I like are all priced through the roof. Need to do something different now. Fortunately, there are tons of options in POE right now. The game is actually in a great place overall.
One other difference they didn't mention... Console doesn't share the top-tier mods (like jewelry->div) with PC. We may not even have them at all. The allflame mobs are the same, and the low-mid mods are the same, but when PC has a div hour, we get like jewelers orbs or whatever instead. I don't think this was intentional on GGG's part, but it is worth knowing for console players. Don't pay big money for div-hour maps based on PC, they won't work. (Yes, I know about all the stuff with inhabited/variety/tiers etc, I tested this very thoroughly).
@SirKasiro Yea. I'm sure it's fun but my favorite parts of POE are making builds and collecting uniques. In trade league it makes sense but in SSF it's a lot of work and time to start over.
Not playing this league (due to life bs) but, doesn't rogue exiles drop a full set of items? They would be considered packs right? Seems like Ring conversion might work there? You can get upwards of 18 on a single map IIRC

I wanted to give Melee a chance and tried Bleed Glad as a League Starter and how far I can push with low investment (maybe 3 Div into at mm and pleased).
I stayed low investment on Eviscerate Glad and at 30d was able to get 3 of the 5 "Kill this T17 boss with 250% quantity" challenges. 250% Fortress and Ziggurat felt impossible and Citadel was hard; the other two I did on much less investment even than 30d.
I've been enjoying things so far. I mean, I've been in the Twilight Strand for the thirteen hours I've put into the event and still haven't found the Oni-Goroshi, but one character has gotten THREE uniques to drop so far (Blackheart, Ezomyte Peak, Bramblejack), so there's that. UPDATE: GOT IT!! Just over 15 hours. It's a really good sword, just got my first Ascendancy and heading into Act IV.
@@sharoch never done it before but I'm doing the four-character rotation method. I'm sure I'm not going at full speed, but they're all L7. I usually do around 1-2 hours at a time in order to not burn out. At this point I'm in too deep. Update: I just did /played on all my characters just to get a more accurate time, and I just crossed 14 hours. In real time, it's about 16. I take breaks to make sure I'm not completely losing my mind, so that's probably where the discrepancy is. I'm running a Scion, two Rangers, and a Witch. The Witch was a mistake, but there's not much I can do now. I forgot she actually got a Sidhebreath to drop from Hillock. I got a Regret to drop for the Scion, and a Sadima's Touch. The Rangers can two-shot Hillock, because there's effectively a shield gate at 50% life, so the first hit gets him there, the second finishes him off. The Scion can buzzsaw him to death, it just took a bit of getting used to Spectral Throw. The Witch has always felt the best to me at level 1, but oh boy does it not scale well past that. My guess is that I'm just lucky in the weirdest ways. I'm getting a lot of uniques, just no Uber Hillock spawns.

my biggest gripe with the event is that you have a massive advantage if you are in a discord server. The game already has a lot of dependancy on things outside the game itself. I don't understand the idea of having the modifiers be shared by the server for an entiere hour
The alternate would probably be a degenerate amount of fishing via 5-second maps enter and exit to snipe good mods. Either way there’s going to be degenerate strategies for those who want to minmax.
Google poemap, a website. People can click buttons there to let everyone else know what's dropping in what map. You can turn on notification too that will ring and alert you if a modifier's voted a certain number of times.
I got one div pack earlier and ran about six maps. I kept switching to whichever pack i thought would have the highest chance of spawning in the map. The one that i would move the div mod to would spawn the least. Even tho the map prior it would have spawned that pack the most. I got one div...
When that specific monster show up in a certain map, the whole server everyone would be farming that map for chaos orbs (if you don't, you are stupid, kinda like in necropolis, if you don't do 88 corpses craft but instead making OK items with 40 corpses, you are stupid, even if you don't need a mirror bow, you only need an OK glove, you are still better off making a bow sell it then buy the glove), in this hour basically nothing else is done, you don't have items crafted, you don't have breach splinters farmed, you don't have heist contracts run, it's all chaos orbs and exalts. In short, without adding new valuables to the game, you have more money that represent value. That, is not exactly the same but very close to the concept of currency overissuance, an over-issue action of currency, the same amount of of items in the market but more money would cause everything to be more expensive, and if you are an American, you are experiencing it every day.
Chaos orb events stopped being worth it on day 2 for the blasters in my group. Why make 500c an hour (2 div at the time) when you can slowly, methodically clear 3 T17s in the hour (1 div each to trade for) and make 10 div or more from the drops? I kept doing the chaos orb events longer than I should have - Rog is just better.
Not going to lie, I really hate how GGG did this, it’s too cringe! GGG should have made it like this. The lantern mods should appear as a natural and not be hidden behind certain map mods, it’s so cringe! Then if a mod appeared during the hour rotation it should be the same across all the tiers of that map, so no one gets left behind! Fucking GGG, just give us something fun since you ripped us for 3.26!
This mindset makes no sense. Designing a game so that a majority of player will never get to see or use an item even after a thousand hours played serves no purpose. If you want to get rid of loot explosions, get rid of the trash drops, not nerf our ability to farm loot.
@@asluckdespairs Trying to maximize rewards can still be rewarding; tryhard behavior in poe2 could still yield 10x the reward. But in PoE it's 100x or more, and in this event the difference between a 'watch discord for the right mods then buy out scarabs' strategy can yield 10,000x or more than someone who just goes alch and go whatever maps they have on hand, and that's why the economy is fucked. Also you must not play many looter games if you think this is the only way things have to be.

Sounds good on paper, but ruins trade and kinda ruins your fun as well, you get bored once you see good amounts of chaos in t1 maps. Not to mention... normal leagues yield good currency if you know how to farm...You literally play a GRINDING game.
Are pack leaders always unique? I didn't play necropolis league so I was trying to juice this divine hour using scarabs/atlas nodes buffing rare packs, without knowing that Kodaka/Kodoka are unique monsters. Is there a surefire way of knowing when to buff rare vs unique mobs whenever the "strongest monster in pack converts" lantern shows up?
the way they designed this event is lazy and uninspiring. For ssf it's pointless event. Also they fked up the migrations. In trade you can for example play for 2 weeks and then transfer your wealth/items/heroes to main league. In ssf you can only migrate to TRADE league. Yeah, I know it was always this, but from event they should migrate to SSF Settlers, not Settlers Necro lmao. So if I find power runes or divines or even chaos, I couldn't use in my main ssf league till the end and event probably will end the same time as Settlers. So only use is to hoard currency for SSF Std which 1% of us even plays. So what's the point playing this instead of normal SSF? Not even economy means event is just bad for SSF. They didn't even wanted to include SSF and hc first. Great event, GGG, so much thought. No way I'm buying supporter packs for another year, this year with shitty Necropolis league and now this.
This event is trash, when you get the event, you need to buy the maps if you don’t have it, but since everyone is doing the same you can’t get the maps !! And then you need to roll the map …. How to take the fun out of things..
GGG needs to change it, make the lantern mods the same cross all tiers of that map ie: strand T2, T6, T10, T16 that way anyone can give it a shot IF they have the map.
I'm tempted to tell you there's a really easy fix for this problem you have but I think I'll just say that the fix exists and let you figure out the rest. :)
another fomo league and i hate it, i cant run red maps just yet and its so frustrating to see people spam divine drops in X map but i cant do nothing about it. this league is about to be dead to me.
The divine drops are underwhelming. If you’re not playing the game for fun, play another game 100%. You kill monsters, you get rewards, repeat. Don’t over complicate it dude.
This was a dogshit event that streamers tried to hype up because nobody was watching their content...GGG is going to ruin POE league cycles after stating POE 2 wouldn't affect POE1...I give POE 1 6 months before they announce they are no longer making content for it.
As much as I feel the same, they can’t. POE2 is going to be utter trash being developed as Ruthless 2 or Dark souls like game. It will have a core player base, but for veterans of POE1 most will hate it. They won’t lose money, or more importantly they can’t lose money, the share holders won’t have it. But will probably only get 2 content up dates and probably 2 more in the way as NECK-CROW Settlers 2.0

They aren’t a myth, they are just really or nearly impossible to find… Then if one does come up you PROBABLY will not have the map.

I'm glad some are having fun with the event. It just wasn't for me. The regular Settlers league has more people playing and better prices for trade.

Can't apply the conversion mod to rogue exiles by any means, unfortunately. They aren't packs.

I've been there. First time took me 25 hours. Next time took me 7 hours. Then it dropped off the meta.

Most common pack is the first pack on the lantern
@@kyleevans1129 but it doesn't always spawn a rare, so there is no strongest mob to drop. He's likely putting it on the best of the pack leader mobs.

The lantern mods should appear as a natural and not be hidden behind certain map mods, it’s so cringe!
Then if a mod appeared during the hour rotation it should be the same across all the tiers of that map, so no one gets left behind!

This mindset makes no sense.
Designing a game so that a majority of player will never get to see or use an item even after a thousand hours played serves no purpose.
If you want to get rid of loot explosions, get rid of the trash drops, not nerf our ability to farm loot.

@@asluckdespairs Trying to maximize rewards can still be rewarding; tryhard behavior in poe2 could still yield 10x the reward. But in PoE it's 100x or more, and in this event the difference between a 'watch discord for the right mods then buy out scarabs' strategy can yield 10,000x or more than someone who just goes alch and go whatever maps they have on hand, and that's why the economy is fucked.
Also you must not play many looter games if you think this is the only way things have to be.
@@asluckdespairs The economy is ruined because of this loot explosion. Sounds good on paper, but ruins trade and kinda ruins your fun as well, you get bored once you see good amounts of chaos in t1 maps.
Not to mention... normal leagues yield good currency if you know how to farm...You literally play a GRINDING game.

Are pack leaders always unique? I didn't play necropolis league so I was trying to juice this divine hour using scarabs/atlas nodes buffing rare packs, without knowing that Kodaka/Kodoka are unique monsters. Is there a surefire way of knowing when to buff rare vs unique mobs whenever the "strongest monster in pack converts" lantern shows up?

the way they designed this event is lazy and uninspiring. For ssf it's pointless event. Also they fked up the migrations. In trade you can for example play for 2 weeks and then transfer your wealth/items/heroes to main league. In ssf you can only migrate to TRADE league. Yeah, I know it was always this, but from event they should migrate to SSF Settlers, not Settlers Necro lmao. So if I find power runes or divines or even chaos, I couldn't use in my main ssf league till the end and event probably will end the same time as Settlers. So only use is to hoard currency for SSF Std which 1% of us even plays. So what's the point playing this instead of normal SSF? Not even economy means event is just bad for SSF. They didn't even wanted to include SSF and hc first.
Great event, GGG, so much thought. No way I'm buying supporter packs for another year, this year with shitty Necropolis league and now this.

This event is trash, when you get the event, you need to buy the maps if you don’t have it, but since everyone is doing the same you can’t get the maps !! And then you need to roll the map …. How to take the fun out of things..
GGG needs to change it, make the lantern mods the same cross all tiers of that map ie: strand T2, T6, T10, T16 that way anyone can give it a shot IF they have the map.
I'm tempted to tell you there's a really easy fix for this problem you have but I think I'll just say that the fix exists and let you figure out the rest. :)
@@olbatrossi If you mean horizon orbs or vendoring 3to1, both of these work to some degree but they can also both be pretty pricy and inconsistent.

The divine drops are underwhelming. If you’re not playing the game for fun, play another game 100%. You kill monsters, you get rewards, repeat. Don’t over complicate it dude.
Yep. Gameplay-wise Settlers (and arguably even Necro Settlers) is great, but the FOMO/daily gold grind are abhorrent. PoE should be free of this.

This was a dogshit event that streamers tried to hype up because nobody was watching their content...GGG is going to ruin POE league cycles after stating POE 2 wouldn't affect POE1...I give POE 1 6 months before they announce they are no longer making content for it.
As much as I feel the same, they can’t. POE2 is going to be utter trash being developed as Ruthless 2 or Dark souls like game. It will have a core player base, but for veterans of POE1 most will hate it.
They won’t lose money, or more importantly they can’t lose money, the share holders won’t have it.
But will probably only get 2 content up dates and probably 2 more in the way as NECK-CROW Settlers 2.0
