WHAT IF ONE OF YOUR RECOMBINATIONS FAIL AND YOU END UP WITH A 3 MOD ITEM?! (assuming you are trying to get a 5mod item like I make in the video) In most cases you will want to set that 3 mod item aside and try making a 4 mod item again from scratch. Then if you successfully make that 4 mod item you can use the 3 mod item you set aside on the last step recombination attempt. So make sure all the mods you want are there between the 2 items. If you fail to make the 4 mod item again, and you now have two 3 mod items with different stats on them, then you can just combine the those two 3 mod items to get your 4 or 5 mod, or set it aside and try and make another 4 mod again.
@v4lue unless you get back 3 suffixes, which would only happen if you are making an item with 3 suffexs, you just craft "you can have 3 crafted modifiers" and then craft on 2 exclusive mods to fill all the prefixes and suffixes on the item. If you get back a 3 suffix item, you will most likely have to annul one off since "you can have 3 crafted modifiers" is a suffix
As a returning player learning all these new crafting methods, I have to say your guide was very comprehensive and easy to follow! I'm excited to start actually using my Recombinator!
awesome explanation brother, the fact that u made a video for this difficult to read reddit thread makes it so much easier and i got good success crafting with it.
This video was very useful to me, playing SSF I just finished crafting a new wand using your method and it was a relatively nice process. I don't enjoy essence/delve/lifeforce/fractured base farming, so alt spam with music or videos in the background is a sacrifice I am willing to make :) So far I am getting out with 40% increased DPS in two hours with just the weapon, and I can't even imagine the amount of stats I will be able to get back on the rest of the gear... Many many thanks for the video!
@LuciolaPoE glad it helped! Yeah, I like the recombinator too since you don't have to decide on settling on a tier 2 or a stat you don't completely want. Good luck on the rest of your SSF goals
You can use lifeforce (Horticrafting) to get 2 tier1 attributes and then combine. Based on what I see you need only 16 tries to get 4 attributes on final armor. For 5 attributes 32 tries.
So I pretty much quit the league when this was "figured out", I saw Lance's video where he explained it terribly and got the worst possible outcome trying to make a one-handed axe, I didn't really think about it after that. I found this preparing for Settlers 2.0 and it's much better explained by far. Well done sir, I look forward to messing with this in the league reboot, assuming I make it that far since I'll be playing HC and may just die before it becoming relevant. Still, fantastic explanation.
Very good explanation, I finally feel like I understand recombinators ! It's awesome that you started this league and got a such good grasp of crafting already. I have been playing for thousand of hours and I'm barely getting into essences and fossils ^^'
Hey Doth super helpful video and very informative! I like the blueprint you showed as well. My question is what would the blueprint look like for the best chances if you were looking for a 3 MOD item that you could multi mod after? Thinking a +2 weapon with fire and all.
When crafting expensive items with rare bases/hard to roll mods, it is much better (safer) to combine Prefix with a Suffix in the Step 1 (P1+S1, P2+S2). 1p1s can be filled up to 6 mods using 3 crafted exclusives and beast aspect while 0p2s cannot, so the subsequent step will be 6 prefixes in the pool vs. 5 prefixes, drastically improving the odds of getting both prefixes. The only benefit of combining suffixes together is it being cheaper as we dont require multimod to fill up the suffixes (any order + aspect on both items makes it 6 mods in the pool), but it should only be used in 'cheap' recombs on regular bases for an easy to roll suffixes.
Probably the clearest explanation of recombinator video! I have a question tho: what if the first product from step 1: combining magical 1 prefix + magical 1 suffix is STILL a magical 1 prefix + 1 suffix item? All the results from the video are luckly rares. Regal Orb (turn it rare) and annul? Is there a better method? Thank you again for the great content!
@tstkenny yeah if you do a magic prefix + magic suffix it will turn out magic and as far as I know regal orb then annul is the only way to make it rare. I would turn the magic items rare before you recombinate
@@Doth_ May I ask how is your chance getting a rare 1 prefix + 1 suffix item from step 1? My odds is like 1/10 only. Regal Orb an magical item always add a useless mod. Annul off the correct extra mod is like 33% chance only, which is more or less the same as combing 2 1p+1s magical item at the recombinator? Sorry I am not good at math lol
i have a new item goal in mind, and since your method goes for 5 mods, i think maybe i'll just craft the 6th i want to go evasion gloves, with warlord influence -pre flat # life (natural) -pre +1 max frenzy (warlord) -pre % incr global dot (warlord) -suf % suppress (natural) -suf culling strike (warlord) -suf crafted hyrbid chaos/ele res (bench) later, in standard, might go for hinekoras, and double corrupts, to aim for +1 max frenzy, and curse vulnerability on hit implicits probably going for just a 20% quality, since recombinator will need so many bases. and probably craft the 6th mod, instead of going for like, T1 chaos res (no more great suffixes left for my specific build)
there is a suffix, phys dot multi, on both elder influence, and hunter influence, but. i feel like that would exponentially increase my crafting cost, wouldn't it if i could do that instead of the crafted suffix, then i suppose i would craft the prefix for flat life as the 6th mod but you can't transfer an influenced mod from one item to another unless it also already has the influence, so then i would have to double influence every item base, that would be a lot of work . what do you think
@alexshindy7274 if you want to recombinate a 6th mod you use two 5 mod items with no crafted mods. With 5 total prefixes and 5 total suffixes between the two items It's a 32.5% chance of success and a 18.5% chance it rolls back to a 4 mod item lol.
This works great.. maybe a little too powerful. Its a pretty expensive project but my favorite crafting method. Managed to craft every piece for my build with 5-mod but weeks into the league. Quick question: Doing a similar item in your example, [5-mod|3p/2s] After you have the 4-mod step done, is it better to craft a separate 3-mod piece [2 wanted prefixes, 1 wanted suffix], a 3-mod item w/ beast crafted suffix, and then proceed to the final step Or can you get away with crafting the final step with a 4-mod and a 2-mod multi-crafted. This was the stage that always gave me a headache- never had one succeed unless it was a 4/3 or at least 3/3.
You just have to imagine that the crafted mods are all 'chance to succeed' and the mods you want are the end goal. Frankly, it doesn't matter the order you do it in the chances just change slightly. It just gambling to sellotape things together.
Hey Doth, great video. Could you share your math on the 1 in 4 chance of getting the beastcraft aspect assigned to the resulting item? Also, you say step 2 is 57%, but even if both sides choose a 2 mod pool, there is still a chance of success if none of the exclusives are chosen, right? That will be tough to calculate because of mod weighting though, I suppose. Also, I think 6++ div just to get Spell Damage on a rare base is a bit pricey. It definitely depends on the specific mod you're after. I've been using harvest craft to target modifiers in several situations.
@MDLeide I said it's 1 in 4 because it has to pick 1 exclusive mod and there was 4 exclusive suffixes to pick from. Maybe it weights them differently but it definitely can pick the aspect. In step two, yes, it definitely can pick just the mods you want even in the worst case scenario. I don't factor that into any of my explanations because it is really rare and makes it even more confusing to explain. The amount of possible outcomes on step 3 could take like 10min to explain lol. Yeah, you gotta see what the best way to roll the stat you want is. I used harvest crafting to get my chaos DoT. I'd definitely pay 6div for the T1 spell damage though. Takes 4 div on average to roll it, and you make up the other 2div on the time you save. 6div is about the most id pay for that stat and a lot of them were cheaper too
@@Doth_ Thanks for the reply. I see about the aspect. So, I think if I understand correctly, you're saying it's a 1 in 4 chance to get the aspect IF the recomb chooses 3/3, 2/3, or 3/2? But it it hits 3/2 and then chooses prefixes first, there is 0%. The math starts to get tricky, into combinatorials, I think, and those can be hard to calculate. At least, for my non-mathematician brain. I'm just gonna keep slamming things together in what I understand to be the most predictable way and not worry too much about the percentages.
I'm trying to craft a ring where one of the suffixes (+35 dex and int, 'of the order') IS a veiled mod, which if I'm understanding things correctly is exclusive. I'm assuming that messes with this strategy completely? As I want to take that veiled suffix throughout the entire process, but adding on these crafted/named mods, I'd have a chance of taking them instead? Ideal outcome: - Topaz Ring (30% lightning, hunter influence) - Prefix: 114 life - Prefix: Exerted attacks deal 35%+ more damage (Hunter influence) - Prefix: 42% increased elemental damage with attack skills - Suffix: +35 Dexterity AND intelligence (EXCLUSIVE - only drops from Elreon) - Suffix: 16% to all elemental resistances Any help would be greatly appreciated, maybe I am just overcomplicating things!
@famuel_nz recombinate all the stats you want onto a ring using this videos methods besides the veiled one. Then put on 'you can have 3 crafted modifiers' and 'prefixes cannot be changed' and then hit it with a veiled orb. Hope it doesn't get rid of your crafted suffix, craft something new to block some of the veiled mods you don't want, and then unveil and pray you get veild stat you want. If you don't get the veiled mod you want, then you will have to annul until it's gone and start again from whatever mods you have left on the ring. This guy does something really similar with a wand th-cam.com/video/x9D4uy3mMAM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xiXklL6nccjn8YkO
@@Doth_ Thanks so much for your reply. For getting my head around this I attempted to craft a ring just with 50 int or dex on it for the time being - I understand the process which is awesome, just got quite unlucky with my attempts for today! Makes more sense to approach my ultimate craft from the veiled orb approach. That vid you linked was really helpful, cheers! So in a nutshell: I want to get to the point of 3p1s, correct? Is the optimal way to do this going to be combining a 1p1s and 2p, like Chronic_Painless? If so I think I am with you! And then the veiled steps as you said.
I definitely cant give the best advice due to inexperience but are there vendors that have alterations you can buy from. I heard thats what speedrunners have been doing in the gauntlet
@woodenman5939 it's basically the same as my example, the only problem is that if you fail the final craft and end up with 3 suffixes and 1 prefix you're in a tricky spot since you can't craft on "can have up to 3 crafted modifiers." Basically you can just craft on 1 exclusive prefix and run it with worse odds than usual, but depending on the situation, you may try something else.
Dude this video gave me a crazy idea. Doth, do you think it's possible to recombine a crazy pdps weapon onto a low level requirement base? You could have the strongest twink we've ever seen 😃😃
I talk about item level around 10:19. Looks like you could try and average down the item level, and you could just keep doing it over and over. You risk losing the stats on the item each time though, so in general, the more stats you want + the lower you want the level of the final item to be the harder it will be to achieve. Sounds doable though!
@@Doth_ Thanks for the reply! Just looked into it a bit more. Looks like you wouldn't be able to use any of the exclusive crafted mods you referenced in the video due to item level requirements so it would be miserable odds haha
@@austin8313Another consideration is required level can scale up with the actual bonuses on an item. Take a lv0 required ring and make it magic, the bonus itself imposes a level requirement on it
Thanks for Video. One Question: Why did you not craft Armour During Soul Gain Prevention on both chests? it just does not matter since both are exclusive ones and one has to get deleted anyways?
@pc7950 basically just my own superstition that if it picked prefixes first, it would be more likely to pick a crafted mod if I put Armour during soul gain prevention on both chests. I dont even have anecdotal evidence for this happening but i heard it from somewhere and am superstitious about it and now you will be too XD
thanks for great explanation! I got two questions though @19:45 after failing and ending up with 1p/2s wouldnt it be easier to try to recomb it with 2p/1s rather than trying to get 2p/2p? Also I was experimenting on my own and have bunch of items with unwanted mods because I didnt do single mod crafts when they were magic, so I got 2 unwanted mods on 4 mod items. Should I split and hope for the best ? (mods are rare t1 sp on wand etc)
@bornslippy9109 it's better to just go for a 2p2s because then going for the 5mods is better odds using the failed 1p2s. If you end up with 2 3mods you just combine them and be happy if you get a 4mod. I'm not sure what splitting costs, so it might be a good idea. In general, you just annul down using metamods where you can and pray.
Nice video, thanks for the information. I will try following your blueprint myself and check the results. I've been using a different method for 5-mod items myself with pretty good results without having to multi-mod the item saving myself a few divines in the process. It is cheaper but makes the process longer because you play with odds, I'm pretty sure this is covered in the recombinators guide. I smash 2 items with 1P/2S together, having at least 1 mod I'm interested to keep on both bases. For example, for my Lightning Strike gloves I did: 1) T1 life/T1 suppression (item 1) + T1 life/T1 attack speed - On each base, you'll have to win the 50/50 chance, sometimes you are unlucky and you'd end up with base with 1 affix having to repeat the process again with new bases, smash them together hoping the final result becomes a rare item so you'd end up with T1 life + T1 AS + T1 suppression 2) Repeat the same process with new bases; this time, I'd do T1 hybrid armor and evasion/Temple mod + T1 hybrid armor and evasion/suppression. Smash them together, hoping you end up with T1 hybrid armour and evasion + Temple mod + suppression 2.1) I like to keep suppression on both bases I want to recombine as T1 suppression has low weight. Having that mod present in both bases gives you higher chances to keep it in the final result 3) At this point, you can smash rare base 1 and rare base 2, hoping to get a 5-mod final item: T1 life + T1 hybrid + Temple mod + T1 Suppression + T1 attack speed + open prefix. So far, this has been working really well for me, even though I know it takes a bit longer and odds may not be that good, but I've saved a lot of divines myself by doing this.
You could also follow the same thought process, but instead of having two 1P/2S bases, you could have a 2P/2S base and a 1P/2S base (I crafted my claw this way), having the same set of affixes you want to keep on both bases. I think this gives you even higher chances of succeeding.
Presuming I have a triple synthesised implicit base and want to make the 5mod item, is it best to use this right at the end as the "3rd item" so to speak?
@maxknudsen9785 yes but the odds are very against you that it will turn out with that base and 5mods. I usually throw in something cheap as the 3rd item like a 21-23% quality, just in case it works out.
@counterhit121 can't really tell when ur looking at the bench. They are usually really weird stats but that only makes sense if you have some familiarity with the game. The best way to find what mods are veiled is you can use craft of exile or poedb to see what modifiers can be put on different types of gear. Or just craft some stuff on and see if the modifier is called "chosen" or "of the order"
I've watched your guide very closely, and even created a similar excel sheet to yours for myself, outlining all the steps i would need to take in order to make the item i want, but i'm not sure it's possible i'm crafting on a 2H mace, coronal maul, with the 20aoe implicit, and i make all of my bases with fossil implicit item sells for more to vendor, before i start, and all of my bases are warlord, so that i can use the warlord prefix increased damage over time (like 140% for T1) I am trying to also combine it with deafening essence of fear, for roughly 140% increased minion damage (prefix) (so i can anoint minion dmg mods effect you as well), for a joint 280% incr dmg over time however, i have failed 10 times now in a row on recombinator. is it possible or not possible, or am i just unlucky? 2 of those times, the minion dmg base was a rare with single mod. the rest, it was a magic with 1 mod, and the warlord incr dot was always a magic 1 mod i set aside a different base that i made where i combined minion damage, with t1 dot multi (suffix) in the first try, where i got a magic result, and then i regal annul with lucky result (1/3) i have plenty of currency but limited time to play, buying bases is hit or miss, sometimes i have to buy a normal coronal maul and use warlord exalt on it. i can write out the full item result i'm trying to get, and the steps i planned ot get there, but this part right here idk if it is possible? i thought it should be. @Doth_
Im pretty sure that the minion damage is an exclusive modifier so if you are crafting other exclusive mods they could be being chosen over the minion damage. Not 100% sure what your end goal is so please explain more and maybe i can help better. Right now it sounds like you are either unlucky or didnt realize minion damage was exclusive. sorry for the late response
@@Doth_ thank you so much for taking interest. it's important to me to create this item while it's possible since i don't know if the runecraft enchantments will be forever gone after settlers league, or whether recombinators will be gone after settlers league as well i intend to craft this item so that i can have permanently in standard after the league, for one of my favorite builds, which 99% of poe population doesn't know about/and or does not play, so i can't buy an item for a niche build i have to make it to explain Why i want this item, the build it is for, is a life based trickster, using polymath and frenzy charge scaling, to scale corrupting fever as the damage. This build uses 2 six-links. 6L CF as damage, and a 6L cyclone-awake cwc-Ball lightning-GMP-lifetap- last gem flexible. infused channeling doesn't provide phys dmg buff anymore from cyclone gem. culling, or faster proj, or something else dialla's malefaction provides huge gem scaling for CF for body armor (hence do not need the gem scaling from a staff, for example) low budget version of build uses a sire of shards, to have the ball lightning (hits about 7 times per second, so 1sec-1.5sec to reach 10 full stacks of CF on mobs. ends up being the comfiest map clear build i ever played, you just cyclone around the map and entire monitor screen coverage dot dps medium tier budget of the build - (currently) using a cane of kulemak with 89 phys dot multi + X% incr dmg per frenzy charge, don't remember the number. in conjunction with a nimi's ring, which now offers the projectiles fired in random directions, to make up for no longer using sire of shards, and now the weapon slow provides dmg. so here comes high budget version next, where now it is possible to rune craft enchant (+2 proj, and proj fired in random directions) but only on a 2H mace, which is why i went with coronal maul, which has a 20% increased aoe implicit, which seems like the only possible useful base. I am starting my recombinator bases with a fossil for the extra "item sells more to vendor" implicit, just in case later in standard i want to try some hinekora locks + double corruptions So the problem with 2H mace, is the prefixes possible accross the board provide almost nothing for corrupting fever, which is physical damage over time My goal was: Warlord influenced Coronal Maul 2H Mace w/+2 proj/proj fire random direction enchant 20 aoe + item sells more vendor implicit -prefix T1 warlord increased physical damage over time -prefix T1 deafening essence of fear (minion damage)(to allow passive tree notable minion dmg increases apply to you as well) -prefix +1 socketed gems (literally no other useful prefixes that i can see except perhaps a second influence, perhaps chance to gain endurance charge on kill?) -suffix T1 dot multi -suffix vieled orb T1 phys dot multi -benchcraft 5-6% increased damage per frenzy the result would be (with a goal of 15 frenzy charges) about +140 incr dmg, + 140 incr dmg, + 90 incr dmg, +45 dot multi, +48 dot multi for about +370% incr dmg and + 93 dot multi
@@Doth_ so now, if i can craft this weapon, not only will it be a big dps increase over the cane of kulemak, it also means i can drop the nimi's ring, which is providing the proj fired in random directions i wasn't sure if the minion dmg essence mod was exclusive or not, since you confirmed it is, that does make the craft harder, but not impossible? the warlord mod though, i read on wiki that influenced mods are not exclusive, unless they are elevated (with orb of dominance? never used one) right now i am just trying to see if it is possible to use the recombinator and combine those two 1 mod items together. (currently in the game you cannot get those two mods on an item in any other way) so i was hoping recombinator makes it possible i need to use recombinator to a point where i have 3 prefix 1 suffix (the natural dot multi suffix) at that point, i can craft prefix cannot change (2/3 success to not annul the natural dot multi suffix, and use vieled orb to try for the phys dot multi, if success, then benchcraft the incr dmg per frenzy and done i cannot use your method exactly (which goes for 2 prefix, 2 suffix, then tries for result of 3 prefix 2 suffix, because of the exclusive modifier rules. but if i can get to the 3 prefix, 1 suffix, then i can finish the item, and if it fails, repeat till it works (unveil, and craft)
@@Doth_ i have several hundred divines in sc settlers league i can use towards this, but right now i'm not sure if i can even make the item and if i cannot get minion dmg together with warlord incr phys dot, then idk what end result i should go for.. because there are almost no other useful prefix possible that would help my build but even without the minion dmg mod, the item would still be an upgrade over the cane of kulemak. it would still provide 90 dot multi + 230 incr dmg, and allow me to not have to use the nimi's ring
@@alexshindy7274 ok iv thought about this some and I see why you need to use the recombinator for this. Its going to be a pain since you cant really use exclusive mods to help. Going for the 4mod item then veil orbing is the way, like you said. Also, as far as im aware the influenced mods should NOT be exclusive but I have never used them so I don't have any way to confirm that, so maybe look at some peoples recombinating videos to get some confidence. All that being said, here is how I would go about this. When you go for the "final craft" to make the 4 mod item I would use maces that look like this Weapon 1 prefix Minion Damage prefix Socketed Gems Weapon 2 prefix Warlord phys dot prefix Socketed Gems suffix dot multi This gives you a 31% chance that 3 prefixes are on the final item and a 59% chance that the suffix dot multi is on the final item. Which means that this is an 18.3% chance of success. Really rough. For weapon 1 you can essence spam till socketed gems appear and then annul down to them or combine 2 single mod items till they combine. Not sure what costs more, so its up to you For weapon 2 you will have to recombinate this together but you can use exclusive mods since none of them are exclusive so it shouldn't be too awful. Also this will prove to you if the warlord phys dot is exclusive or not Hopefully you get it first try buuuut obviously it will probably fail and you will end up with an item with a random mix of mods on it. I cant account for all the possibilities but essentially you will always just want to make a new item with as many of the mods on it as possible to combine with. Lets say the failed craft ends up with 3 prefixes and no suffix, you can make another "weapon 2" and combine it with that 3 prefix fail. The chance of success then will be 33.6% since you would have 5 total prefixes on that recombination. The 3 prefix fail is like best case fail though. Worst case is it ends up as a 1 mod item. If you are confused or want to talk about this more please keep commenting. This is an interesting mirror tier craft you are going for so I'm excited to hear about it. I am new at the game so there might be a better way to craft this and I just don't see it fyi so do your due diligence on checking other crafting methods. I don't think there is though. Also sorry for the long time between responses, I just want to be able to sit down and think, to give you a good response, and I haven't had much time to do that lately
Quick question: I tried recombining +1 lightning (with multimod, 2 prefixes and aspect) and +1 all (also multimod and crafted prefixes), two times. both times I got back a rare item with 1 prefix (+1 all) and one crafted suffix. This shouldn't be possible, so what is going wrong?
@gehirndoper from what you said that does sound confusing. If you can share a recording or screenshot of yourself going for it again, I could see if you're doing something wrong or if you are just experiencing something really weird. What weapon are you making?
@@Doth_ Sorry, in fact it was a crafted prefix both times (think it appeared below without holding alt, which got me confused). So I just hit the unlucky 11% twice. I'm trying to make a 5-mod wand (T1 spell dmg, +1 +1 gems, cast speed + crit multi). Blew quite a lot of divs on it today (although I am somewhat efficient at preparing the rare prefixes), but in the final recombines I eventually lost +1 all and T1 spell.
@@Doth_ I also prepared a buch of Necrotic armours, and went all the way up to 6 tries with 2p/2s + 2p (and aspect, so 6 in the pool both prefixes and suffixes). I did not hit :(
@gehirndoper rip. It can be rough sometimes. My first time doing the recombinator was miserable since I was unsure if it would ever turn out but after I knew it was just rng fucking me over I felt a lot better
@@gehirndoper yeah I was wondering if it was something like that. I'm always holding alt when I'm looking at mods on a weapon. Your wand will be so worth it in the end. Gl!
@BackwardsFish86 you should be able to do the same as the example, no problem. Only difference is the last step will be a 2 suffix item + your 4mod item instead of the 2 prefix item that i show in the example. If you watch the whole video you should see how you can make it work. Only issue will be be if the last step fails and you get 3 suffixes and 1 prefix. You will either have to annul off a suffix or just put 1 exclusive prefix mod on when you go again
@mr_macpop yeah, the 2T1 prefixes you want with as many exclusive as possible. It will essentially be the same recombination that you failed with slightly better odds now since you have a 3 mod item instead of a 2 mod so you will be able to fill either the prefixes or suffixess (doesnt really matter which). You may fail the craft in the same way again, or yeah, you may lose a suffix this time and keep the prefixes. Or it may work out and you got a dope item :) good luck
GGG has a tendency to make everything so overcomplicated and overengineered. They really should learn from LE how to make a very flexible crafting system but straightforward at the same time.
I doubt the first step is 33% chance to make it rare with two mods. Got one rare item out of ten crafts and have gotten 3 rares out of like 20-25 crafts. Maybe they nerfed it or I'm super unlucky.
@@Doth_ Yeah it really is. I deleted a lot of bases just in the first step. The claws weren't hard to get but getting T1 fire, cold and lightning took a long time and a lot of alterations. Luckily I got the 5 mod craft first try. I think it cost me less than 10d to craft it, so saved me 150d compared to buying it. Thanks for the guide :)
I'm trying to craft a GG Profane Wand using a blend of these methods. I have a Rare with 1P and 3 crafted mods. I have another Rare with 1S and 3 crafted mods. Twice I came out with a 1S and two crafted mods (as Rares). Another time 1S and a single crafted mods (Magic). This is killing me. If it's and 89% chance then I'm the unluckiest person ever
@@Doth_ As I sent that message it dawned on me after I must be using the wrong mods. I tried it one more time after and it came out with 1S and 1s (Can have up to 3 mods) ... didnt think that was possible?!
And again - came out with 1S and another another 1s of 3 crafted of mods. is it possible this has been patched in some fashion that drop the percentages? Does the level matter? I just pick the cheaper version of the craft.
Crafting is extremely tedious but the entire economy revolves around crafting material. By changing the crafting system and making it “easier”, this will in turn affect the entire economy. Not sure how you would go about it
@stmurphyclan this league was the first time I have ever played poe, and I agree and disagree. The complex and rng based crafting is very rewarding and making my staff was the highlight of the league for me. I legit popped off. I do wish I could make more builds and make this build better, but farming takes too long for the amount of currency I would need. As I typed out that last sentence though, it made me realize that the difficulty of making a lot of currency is also what is keeping me thinking about the game on how to become better. I kind of like that
@@Doth_ same dude my highlight has been selling daggers for like 250 Div after watching and understanding the recomb, best build I ever played was HideOutWarrior -
umm.. no thanks, i have played two characters to level 100 this season, i have only crafted my flasks. i don't have time to spend 4 hours making one item. I rather farm a mirror in that time.
WHAT IF ONE OF YOUR RECOMBINATIONS FAIL AND YOU END UP WITH A 3 MOD ITEM?! (assuming you are trying to get a 5mod item like I make in the video)
In most cases you will want to set that 3 mod item aside and try making a 4 mod item again from scratch. Then if you successfully make that 4 mod item you can use the 3 mod item you set aside on the last step recombination attempt. So make sure all the mods you want are there between the 2 items.
If you fail to make the 4 mod item again, and you now have two 3 mod items with different stats on them, then you can just combine the those two 3 mod items to get your 4 or 5 mod, or set it aside and try and make another 4 mod again.
if I get an 3 mod item, how do i balance that out with meta crafting
@v4lue unless you get back 3 suffixes, which would only happen if you are making an item with 3 suffexs, you just craft "you can have 3 crafted modifiers" and then craft on 2 exclusive mods to fill all the prefixes and suffixes on the item.
If you get back a 3 suffix item, you will most likely have to annul one off since "you can have 3 crafted modifiers" is a suffix
@@Doth_ hey thanks for the reply, yeah unfortunately i always ended with 1p2s if step 3 did not got me success.
The best recombination guide I've seen so far. Great job!
By far the most clear explanation of recombinators out there. Thanks!
Amazing, just made my gloves perfect everything t1, asked for help in game ! and help was provided !! Amazing Dude !
I just wanted to relax in ssf and now I am watching this.
Your explanation is the best I've seen so far. You break it down so it's easy to understand. Subscribed!
I have been playing for thousand of hours and I'm barely getting into essences and fossils ^^'
thanks for the details, i finally manage to craft/recombine my end game wand!!
Thank you for the clear explaination! Although I can feel alot of crying coming when I try this
@RyenaldGuntabid it's painful but there's really no reason to settle on a less than perfect craft so it's so worth
Hey Doth super helpful video and very informative! I like the blueprint you showed as well. My question is what would the blueprint look like for the best chances if you were looking for a 3 MOD item that you could multi mod after? Thinking a +2 weapon with fire and all.
Great video. It helped me a lot get going with recombination. Thank you 🙏🏻
thanks. this was a great explanation
@@Doth_ Yeah. So there will be 1 more chance making the item useless. Part of the costs I guess. Thank you for your comment!
@@tstkenny yeah. it can be a frustrating process
Sorry I am not good at math lol
i have a new item goal in mind, and since your method goes for 5 mods, i think maybe i'll just craft the 6th
i want to go evasion gloves, with warlord influence
-pre flat # life (natural)
-pre +1 max frenzy (warlord)
-pre % incr global dot (warlord)
-suf % suppress (natural)
-suf culling strike (warlord)
-suf crafted hyrbid chaos/ele res (bench)
later, in standard, might go for hinekoras, and double corrupts, to aim for +1 max frenzy, and curse vulnerability on hit implicits
probably going for just a 20% quality, since recombinator will need so many bases. and probably craft the 6th mod, instead of going for like, T1 chaos res (no more great suffixes left for my specific build)
there is a suffix, phys dot multi, on both elder influence, and hunter influence, but. i feel like that would exponentially increase my crafting cost, wouldn't it
if i could do that instead of the crafted suffix, then i suppose i would craft the prefix for flat life as the 6th mod
but you can't transfer an influenced mod from one item to another unless it also already has the influence, so then i would have to double influence every item base, that would be a lot of work . what do you think
@alexshindy7274 if you want to recombinate a 6th mod you use two 5 mod items with no crafted mods. With 5 total prefixes and 5 total suffixes between the two items It's a 32.5% chance of success and a 18.5% chance it rolls back to a 4 mod item lol.
Great Guide thanks! My only question is does the recombining rank matter for any of this
@@adrianjimenez5923 like the actual rank of the recombinator? I dont think it matters but it doesn't hurt to rank it up
Nice work on the video!
I absolutely loved this guide and enjoyed watching/listening to it... I still have no fucking clue what I'm doing but i feel great :P
You just have to imagine that the crafted mods are all 'chance to succeed' and the mods you want are the end goal. Frankly, it doesn't matter the order you do it in the chances just change slightly. It just gambling to sellotape things together.
this video is amazing thank you!
Ideal outcome:
- Topaz Ring (30% lightning, hunter influence)
- Prefix: 114 life
- Prefix: Exerted attacks deal 35%+ more damage (Hunter influence)
- Prefix: 42% increased elemental damage with attack skills
- Suffix: +35 Dexterity AND intelligence (EXCLUSIVE - only drops from Elreon)
- Suffix: 16% to all elemental resistances
Any help would be greatly appreciated, maybe I am just overcomplicating things!
This guy does something really similar with a wand

Makes more sense to approach my ultimate craft from the veiled orb approach. That vid you linked was really helpful, cheers! So in a nutshell:
I want to get to the point of 3p1s, correct? Is the optimal way to do this going to be combining a 1p1s and 2p, like Chronic_Painless? If so I think I am with you! And then the veiled steps as you said.

What is the best way to hit 2 prefixes & 3 suffixes on the final item?
@austin8313 I was wondering that. Thanks for teaching me something too!
@@austin8313Another consideration is required level can scale up with the actual bonuses on an item.
Take a lv0 required ring and make it magic, the bonus itself imposes a level requirement on it
Mods have a level requirement, the highest mods have level requirements in the 60's so there goes your hope for twinking.
Been wondering why high tier bases sell like candy this league.. good to know :P
Thanks for Video. One Question: Why did you not craft Armour During Soul Gain Prevention on both chests? it just does not matter since both are exclusive ones and one has to get deleted anyways?
@pc7950 can you give me a timestamp of when I do it?
@@Doth_ 21:55
@pc7950 basically just my own superstition that if it picked prefixes first, it would be more likely to pick a crafted mod if I put Armour during soul gain prevention on both chests. questions: for making a 6 mod wep would the best approach be to just slam 5 Mods together covering all affixes
yeah with no crafted mods on it. Sounds miserable to try and hit.
thanks for great explanation!
Yo doth. Check out the new balance changes made to the pyromane, do you think its still op? I'd like to hear your thoughts.
@Fafish01 they are way less op now that they are able to be bola'd but still really dang strong.
For example, for my Lightning Strike gloves I did:
1) T1 life/T1 suppression (item 1) + T1 life/T1 attack speed - On each base, you'll have to win the 50/50 chance, sometimes you are unlucky and you'd end up with base with 1 affix having to repeat the process again with new bases, smash them together hoping the final result becomes a rare item so you'd end up with T1 life + T1 AS + T1 suppression
2) Repeat the same process with new bases; this time, I'd do T1 hybrid armor and evasion/Temple mod + T1 hybrid armor and evasion/suppression. Smash them together, hoping you end up with T1 hybrid armour and evasion + Temple mod + suppression
2.1) I like to keep suppression on both bases I want to recombine as T1 suppression has low weight. Having that mod present in both bases gives you higher chances to keep it in the final result
3) At this point, you can smash rare base 1 and rare base 2, hoping to get a 5-mod final item: T1 life + T1 hybrid + Temple mod + T1 Suppression + T1 attack speed + open prefix.
One question i have is can i use two different influence items and combine it to make double influence without awakners orb?
@sachinjungade9265 no. It will just pick one of the single influence bases.

How do we know what the veiled mods are on the crafting bench?
@counterhit121 can't really tell when ur looking at the bench. They are usually really weird stats but that only makes sense if you have some familiarity with the game. The best way to find what mods are veiled is you can use craft of exile or poedb to see what modifiers can be put on different types of gear. Or just craft some stuff on and see if the modifier is called "chosen" or "of the order"
12:42 You said you cannot craft any modifiers on this step, but it is possible to craft on magic items.
True. I meant we can't craft on any more suffixes
I've watched your guide very closely, and even created a similar excel sheet to yours for myself, outlining all the steps i would need to take in order to make the item i want, but i'm not sure it's possible
i'm crafting on a 2H mace, coronal maul, with the 20aoe implicit, and i make all of my bases with fossil implicit item sells for more to vendor, before i start, and all of my bases are warlord, so that i can use the warlord prefix increased damage over time (like 140% for T1)
I am trying to also combine it with deafening essence of fear, for roughly 140% increased minion damage (prefix) (so i can anoint minion dmg mods effect you as well), for a joint 280% incr dmg over time
however, i have failed 10 times now in a row on recombinator. is it possible or not possible, or am i just unlucky? 2 of those times, the minion dmg base was a rare with single mod. the rest, it was a magic with 1 mod, and the warlord incr dot was always a magic 1 mod
i set aside a different base that i made where i combined minion damage, with t1 dot multi (suffix) in the first try, where i got a magic result, and then i regal annul with lucky result (1/3)
i have plenty of currency but limited time to play, buying bases is hit or miss, sometimes i have to buy a normal coronal maul and use warlord exalt on it. i can write out the full item result i'm trying to get, and the steps i planned ot get there, but this part right here idk if it is possible? i thought it should be.
@@Doth_ thank you so much for taking interest. it's important to me to create this item while it's possible since i don't know if the runecraft enchantments will be forever gone after settlers league, or whether recombinators will be gone after settlers league as well
i intend to craft this item so that i can have permanently in standard after the league, for one of my favorite builds, which 99% of poe population doesn't know about/and or does not play, so i can't buy an item for a niche build i have to make it
to explain Why i want this item, the build it is for, is a life based trickster, using polymath and frenzy charge scaling, to scale corrupting fever as the damage. This build uses 2 six-links. 6L CF as damage, and a 6L cyclone-awake cwc-Ball lightning-GMP-lifetap- last gem flexible. infused channeling doesn't provide phys dmg buff anymore from cyclone gem. culling, or faster proj, or something else
dialla's malefaction provides huge gem scaling for CF for body armor (hence do not need the gem scaling from a staff, for example)
low budget version of build uses a sire of shards, to have the ball lightning (hits about 7 times per second, so 1sec-1.5sec to reach 10 full stacks of CF on mobs. ends up being the comfiest map clear build i ever played, you just cyclone around the map and entire monitor screen coverage dot dps
medium tier budget of the build - (currently) using a cane of kulemak with 89 phys dot multi + X% incr dmg per frenzy charge, don't remember the number. in conjunction with a nimi's ring, which now offers the projectiles fired in random directions, to make up for no longer using sire of shards, and now the weapon slow provides dmg.
so here comes high budget version next, where now it is possible to rune craft enchant (+2 proj, and proj fired in random directions) but only on a 2H mace, which is why i went with coronal maul, which has a 20% increased aoe implicit, which seems like the only possible useful base. I am starting my recombinator bases with a fossil for the extra "item sells more to vendor" implicit, just in case later in standard i want to try some hinekora locks + double corruptions
So the problem with 2H mace, is the prefixes possible accross the board provide almost nothing for corrupting fever, which is physical damage over time
My goal was:
Warlord influenced Coronal Maul 2H Mace w/+2 proj/proj fire random direction enchant
20 aoe + item sells more vendor implicit
-prefix T1 warlord increased physical damage over time
-prefix T1 deafening essence of fear (minion damage)(to allow passive tree notable minion dmg increases apply to you as well)
-prefix +1 socketed gems (literally no other useful prefixes that i can see except perhaps a second influence, perhaps chance to gain endurance charge on kill?)
-suffix T1 dot multi
-suffix vieled orb T1 phys dot multi
-benchcraft 5-6% increased damage per frenzy
the result would be (with a goal of 15 frenzy charges)
about +140 incr dmg, + 140 incr dmg, + 90 incr dmg, +45 dot multi, +48 dot multi
for about +370% incr dmg and + 93 dot multi
@@Doth_ so now, if i can craft this weapon, not only will it be a big dps increase over the cane of kulemak, it also means i can drop the nimi's ring, which is providing the proj fired in random directions
i wasn't sure if the minion dmg essence mod was exclusive or not, since you confirmed it is, that does make the craft harder, but not impossible?
the warlord mod though, i read on wiki that influenced mods are not exclusive, unless they are elevated (with orb of dominance? never used one)
right now i am just trying to see if it is possible to use the recombinator and combine those two 1 mod items together. (currently in the game you cannot get those two mods on an item in any other way) so i was hoping recombinator makes it possible
i need to use recombinator to a point where i have 3 prefix 1 suffix (the natural dot multi suffix)
at that point, i can craft prefix cannot change (2/3 success to not annul the natural dot multi suffix, and use vieled orb to try for the phys dot multi, if success, then benchcraft the incr dmg per frenzy and done
i cannot use your method exactly (which goes for 2 prefix, 2 suffix, then tries for result of 3 prefix 2 suffix, because of the exclusive modifier rules.
but if i can get to the 3 prefix, 1 suffix, then i can finish the item, and if it fails, repeat till it works (unveil, and craft)
@@Doth_ i have several hundred divines in sc settlers league i can use towards this, but right now i'm not sure if i can even make the item
and if i cannot get minion dmg together with warlord incr phys dot, then idk what end result i should go for.. because there are almost no other useful prefix possible that would help my build
but even without the minion dmg mod, the item would still be an upgrade over the cane of kulemak. it would still provide 90 dot multi + 230 incr dmg, and allow me to not have to use the nimi's ring
When you go for the "final craft" to make the 4 mod item I would use maces that look like this
Weapon 1
prefix Minion Damage
prefix Socketed Gems
Weapon 2
prefix Warlord phys dot
prefix Socketed Gems
suffix dot multi
This gives you a 31% chance that 3 prefixes are on the final item and a 59% chance that the suffix dot multi is on the final item. Which means that this is an 18.3% chance of success. Really rough.
For weapon 1 you can essence spam till socketed gems appear and then annul down to them or combine 2 single mod items till they combine. Not sure what costs more, so its up to you
For weapon 2 you will have to recombinate this together but you can use exclusive mods since none of them are exclusive so it shouldn't be too awful. Also this will prove to you if the warlord phys dot is exclusive or not
Hopefully you get it first try buuuut obviously it will probably fail and you will end up with an item with a random mix of mods on it.
So I just hit the unlucky 11% twice. any ideas for getting 3 suffix 2 prefix? Am I just gonna have a bad time?
@BackwardsFish86 you should be able to do the same as the example, no problem. Only difference is the last step will be a 2 suffix item + your 4mod item instead of the 2 prefix item that i show in the example. If you watch the whole video you should see how you can make it work. Only issue will be be if the last step fails and you get 3 suffixes and 1 prefix. You will either have to annul off a suffix or just put 1 exclusive prefix mod on when you go again
Got a 1p2s outcome instead of 2p2s with very rare T1s on a weapon. Need to get 1 more prefix (+1all skills). What’s your recommendation?
so you want 2p2s on your final weapon?
If so you would recombine your 1p2s with a 2p
@@Doth_ thx. But if I add a 2p, don’t I risk losing the suffices? Or do you mean 2 T1 prefixes and still filling as much exclusive crafts as possible?
@mr_macpop yeah, the 2T1 prefixes you want with as many exclusive as possible. It will essentially be the same recombination that you failed with slightly better odds now since you have a 3 mod item instead of a 2 mod so you will be able to fill either the prefixes or suffixess (doesnt really matter which). You may fail the craft in the same way again, or yeah, you may lose a suffix this time and keep the prefixes. Or it may work out and you got a dope item :) good luck
Thank you! 🙏🏻
@Veno-hq2ts I hit it first try in this video, as anecdote, and it has taken me 10 times a few times also. Rng is a bitch
@Veno-hq2ts so glad it worked out! Congrats!
@RottingYoda if it came out with 2 crafted mods on it, you are absolutely using the wrong crafted mods and that's why it's failing
@@Doth_ As I sent that message it dawned on me after I must be using the wrong mods. I tried it one more time after and it came out with 1S and 1s (Can have up to 3 mods) ... didnt think that was possible?!
45 div deep and nothing to show :(
And again - came out with 1S and another another 1s of 3 crafted of mods. is it possible this has been patched in some fashion that drop the percentages? Does the level matter? I just pick the cheaper version of the craft.
@@RottingYoda explain or share a video or screenshot of what you're trying to combine
Well.. as a SSF player with 12 divines i don't feel like this helps me much.. still watched the whole video though
Who plays chaos dot and wants that staff mirror serviced?
maybe like 1 person but im desperate lmao
Hopefully POE2 fixes crafting because this is ridiculous and not my idea of fun.
I kind of like that
@@Doth_ same dude my highlight has been selling daggers for like 250 Div after watching and understanding the recomb, best build I ever played was HideOutWarrior

How would you make an elemental 1hander ? fire cold lightning dmg attack speed and crit
@fridge5773 watch the video :D
@@Doth_ i'll watch again, i'm kinda slow i guess, i was following but got lost inbetween, got a 2 suffix tier 1 attack speed / tier 1 crit ambusher :D
Any experiments with quality?
Nothing to experiment
If the base with quality gets picked, then it transfers. 50% chance. Put quality on both sides to guarantee.
umm.. no thanks, i have played two characters to level 100 this season, i have only crafted my flasks. i don't have time to spend 4 hours making one item. I rather farm a mirror in that time.
@@MoZz.. what's your strat. Im broke
poe players more like excel players
@manbagan true but I do this in every game I play XD
provided that you're high enough level. So, if you're just starting out, You're F'd in the A!
Is it worth balancing ichors and then eldritch annul to have the 50% instead of the 33% or whatever crafting step you're at?
pretty expensive but if you value your time and got some currency then yes
