Anyone with half a brain knows Honda are more than capable of dragging more power from the engine if they wanted to. The reason they don’t is to ensure great reliability and MPG, the very things that made the Cub the best selling bike of all time. Some people just don’t ‘get it’ at all 😩

Come on people. It's not a performance machine. It was built for commuting in tight asian cities. I had one while living in asia. In the city I only put about 15 miles per day on it so the fuel capacity was no problem. The super thing about it was the endurance; I got mine used with 29,000 miles. I sold it with 42,000 and only did basic maintenance. Super cheap reliable transportation.

I have this same bike. Completely stock with almost 900 miles on it so I'd say it's pretty well broken in. Been seeing between 99 and 127 mpg driving normal running premium unleaded. Speeds pretty consistently 55-60mph occasionally 62-63mph. I'm only 160 lbs though. Someone bigger may not see the same mileage or speeds. On a really windy day I have had a hard time staying above 50 mph though. Other than that stupid center stand and the tiny little 1 gallon fuel tank and zero cargo area... I love this bike. Perfect little bike to get to and from work and beat around town on. I had to build a rack and add a little box on mine to carry my lunch box and hard hat for work.

Luggage rack: The trail model has an excellent rack. Honda seems loathe to sell that rack separately, though it will mount on the street model. I hoped that a third party vendor would make one, but have been unable to find one selling within or to the U.S. i bought Honda’s itty bitty rack, and affixed a circular charcoal grate to it. (“Would you like fries with that?”). And, I hung saddle bags off of the grate. Looks “unique”, and works great (grate?).

The question is, at 6'-5" and 300# how many dumb looks will I get riding to the beach with a long board strapped on the side? 10 beach trips to the gallon instead of one or two, or one mountain stream fishing trip per gallon rather than burning a 1/4 tank in my truck.
