Do you know Sir, It is made as prasad in Kanchipuram MahaVishnu temple also known as Varadaraja Perumal Koil ( the Lord who always gives Vardaan and grants your wishes. It is made of Rice and ulad dal with a tempering of Jeera, crushed pepper. Hing, ginger and curry leaves) l. All the spices are tempered in mix of Til oil and ghee which is thoda zyada than the usual use of oil in seasoning. This idli doesn't get spolit for many days. It's my grandmother and my mother's speciality. The Vaishnavas of Tamilnadu make this idli very well.
Followed the recipe to the T, even in the morning lunch tiffin and breakfast rush, it turned out very well. The idlis turned out soft , spongy and well behaved (not too sticky or runny in places) This recipe is going to become a regular for sure!

Hello, I like your way of explaining the recipe. I have tried lot of recipes watching your videos and they turned out to be amazingly tasteful. I query can we avoid using Baking Soda and rest the batter for long hours like 1 or 2 hours. Or it's unavoidable.

Hello Chef! I follow all your recipes and as usual the rava idli recipes are also really good and this is authentic rava idli recipe (minus the crushed pepper) but definitely not Kanchipuram idlis 😅 both are entirely different things 😁 Also, when the rava is roasted a bit, it makes the texture even better 😀. The idlis look great as usual and i bet it will taste great too☺️
Can I suggest you for this Rava idli …..! When you make better add oil to keep idli softer I prepare it very frequently so I am very confident for it’s softness

Love ur cooking...but usually We add coconut pieces too along with cashews...not pepper crushed but whole peppercorns and no mustard seeds
