In 3 weeks I will be 74 yrs. old. I have been averaging 5-8 thousand steps a day but today, walking with my daughter, I walked 11,095 steps. Thank you for all your videos!!

I have implemented everything you have said. I set myself a challenge on October 1 of 12,000 steps each day. I made it 29 of 31 days. I decided to keep it going in November. I have missed reaching the 12,000 on 3 days. My hardest days are when I have had to travel, and I work to squeeze it in. I did exactly what you said about looking for opportunities to walk. I was out of town and got a flat tire. My total wait plus repair time was 1.5 hours. I walked all over the parking lot. I did the same thing at the car dealership. And I pace around my house night and day. When I receive a phone call, I pace back and forth on my patio or driveway. Previously I would have plopped down in a chair to talk. My big take- I SIT LESS! Keep encouraging all of us to keep walking! 😀

Hey here I am, in Japan, and you responded to my request last time, about increasing our steps.
Thanks much Dave. I appreciate you taking the time and making the effort for the video. I admire your motivation and dedication.

Thank you for the inspiration, Dave. As it gets colder here in the north, walking becomes more difficult, but once it snows I use my snowshoes! 🙂

Hey Dave, thanks, love your videos! Big walking motivator for us: taking our friend's dog daily as our little adventure buddy ~ he's so enthusiastic and full of joy it makes our hearts happy and inspires us to walk more. We now have a bunch of awesome trails, rural roads, and parks where we can do 2 to 3 mile walks. Bandit's mom works full time, we're retired, feels like we've gained a little grandchild.

Thank You for your videos just long enough to be informative and enjoyable. I am 70 years old. In June while at a doctors visit we talked about staying healthy at 70 years old. At this time I do not take any medication and I have never had to take medication. My Dr and I talked about becoming sugar free. No added sugar, no sugary drinks, no baked goods and snacks. Focus on fruits, vegetables and protein. Know what a serving looks like and work at eliminating process food. I also started walking in July so far this year I have averaged 8,220 steps a day (July through November 16 th. My goal in January is to step it up to an average of 12,000+ each day. For me it’s not hard to do. I just have to plan for it. I am a 24/7 care giver for a parent. My parent can not be left alone so I plan my outside walking when there is some one else at our house. That is usually twice a day for about an hour each time. These two hours are my time and walking helps me to relax and decompress. I also take advantage of quiet times during the day and evening and walk inside with a walking video. So going forward for 2025 my Goal is to stay on the no added sugar life style, add more daily steps and stay healthy without added medication. Thank You so much for your videos.

I love this podcast . I used to listen to it on the Apple podcast app so when I found it on TH-cam I was so happy . You have inspired me to join a walking group on facebook. My question is “ How do you go on walks if and when you feel unmotivated?”

Love your videos and podcasts and listen to them every day when when I walk. I wear Xero brand shoes. I'm a 67 yo who always hated wearing shoes. But, the wider toe box and flexible soles (5 mm!) allow me to really feel the ground while protecting my feet from the paved, gravel, and farm roads that I walk daily. Game changer for me in terms of joint pain, too.

I saw a meme on Instagram that if you walk 10000 steps a day you lower your chances of premature death by 55% if you walk 12K per day you will live forever! 🤪

Walking was always encouraged in my family. In fact, I almost always went to high school on foot (5km a day there and back between 1971 and 1975). I could travel by train = 2 minutes of travel... but I preferred to save the money for the ticket to buy cigarettes... mmmm. At that time, teenagers smoked (secretly, obviously). -
Anyway, I think I am now more in favour of healthy habits than when I was a teenager.

You have to be your own advocate!! The medical community is a business. Are they encouraging patients to walk more??? They want you to stay on pills!!!!
    They keep building more hospitals!!!
