    I really like this built in solar panel, pretty compact, 200 plus videos without batteries is pretty impressive too and the crystal clear images are as good as any other quality camera. At $129.99 it’s a steal ! With so much game in your area, you have the perfect place to test and review cameras. Nice job Dave.

    well, i finally pulled the trigger on some solar cams. got one of these, and four of another type. was also very surprised, pleasantly, at their compactness. i'll be counting on them for summer/fall scouting, as the snow will definitely be an issue. i'll be scouting out spots for them though, tucked up under branches to maybe protect from snow. that'll likely affect the sun exposure then, but who knows, it might still be enough. just can't go wrong with not having to worry about batteries.

    great video. The internal battery is probably an 18650 lithium battery which is one of the most efficient rechargeble batteries most commonly used in electronics. If you break open the battery of an old lap top you will find a bunch of these. If the one from your camera wears out you're probably able to replace it by screwing your camera open

    i've put off buying this cam a couple times, but it's due to the solar panel becoming ineffective when it collects snow. i guess it would still be a great cam though, for the non-winter months.
    my only other con i can come up with, is it's design looks a little more difficult for making a lockbox for it. i'm sure i could figure one out though.
    will likely still get one, as everything else about this cam is awesome.

    Have you tested this deeper in the trees? In more secluded areas that don't get full sun exposure?
    I've been looking to get a couple of these, but i'm on all public crown land. And, i then place my cams as remote as possible, to keep hidden from hunters/hikers. Wondering just how well it operates with less-than-ideal sun exposure.
    I see 2 flaws with this design, compared to an external solar panel. One, it's fixed, so it can't be directed seperately, to capture optimal sun. I want my cam facing the optimal game capture, first and foremost. And, i also go out of my way to make sure my cam is NOT facing the sun, for optimal cam performance. Now, maybe this panel works good enough that it doesn't need direct sun, in which case this wouldn't be an issue. The second, it's too horizontal. They have angled it, just enough so that it sheds water, but it's definitely going to be a problem in areas where we have snowy winters. THAT is my biggest concern with this cam. A remedy would be to place the cam under decent overhead branch protection. But, that then is also a problem with blocking it's sun exposure.
    I know they have that other model, with the rotating solar attachment, which would solve both those worries. But, that thing would be a bear toy so quick.

    • @HuntingFarmerOfficial
      @HuntingFarmerOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine has been doing great. I have never put a battery in mine (simply running it off the internal battery). I do get pretty good sunlight where it’s at, but not full sun. The flatter angle will hurt will holding snow but will help if the cam isn’t facing the perfect direction 👍

    • @zzz7zzz9

    • @HuntingFarmerOfficial
      @HuntingFarmerOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want photos or videos sent to your phone you will need a cellular (commonly referred to as 4G) camera. Unfortunately, no WiFi trail camera can offer that. Thanks for watching 👍

  • @zzz7zzz9
    @zzz7zzz9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question.
    Can the cam be connected to my phone just using bluetooth, and not wifi?
    If i'm out in the woods, having to use wifi to connect would be using my data.
    I briefly played with it, the other day, and connected with wifi. But it wouldn't show any files. It had 10 vids, but showed nothing on the app. I could even then manually record a vid, and it still showed nothing was there.
    I foolishly set it out in the woods without mastering how everything works.

    • @HuntingFarmerOfficial
      @HuntingFarmerOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      One thing to check: the default view is pictures on the app. If you have recorded videos and go to view, it won’t show any until you toggle the setting to video (camera icon to video camera icon).
      Secondly, you won’t need to use any data in your phone. The trail camera produces the WiFi signal and your phone connects to the camera via that free WiFi signal the trail camera produces. 👍
