Thank you, Finally. You are my people! I don't want to be a 3D printer Hobbyist! I want to be a hobbyist that uses 3D printing. That's why Bambu Labs was such a revelation over my Ender 3v2. Please proudly do reviews for people like us! I'm successfully learning onshape because I'm not messing with my 3D printer.

"That's why Bambu Labs was such a revelation over my Ender 3v2." ... Ouch. What was the price difference between those two?!
I mean ... you probably could have bought that same experience when you originally bought your Ender 3v2 with something like a Prusa Mk3. But you didn't, because the Ender was much, much cheaper!
What I am saying is: it's unrealistic to compare in two totally different price ranges afterwards. When you invest like 3-4 times more than a 250 bucks Ender machine ... you do get more in return, of course.
It always has been that way. Not only with Bambu Lab.

@@hassosigbjoernson5738 Creality sold a ton of printers like my 3v2. Prusa sold a bunch of printers. During the 5 years I owned my 3v2, those same companies barely innovated anything. So yes, when I bought my $699 P1S, I was amazed. Out of the box the thing worked, connected to my internet and computer, yielding a customer experience neither one of those companies even approached. You still had to build the dumb Prusa. They touted the build process is getting to know the printer. I don't want to get to know my printer, I want to print! And now I do! Those are companies are playing catch up, Maybe Bambu will fumble their lead, but meanwhile, I'm learning to draw and print things of my own design rather than getting to know my printer!

@@hassosigbjoernson5738 I owned the Ender 3 V2 for nearly 5 years. During that time it was unreliable. Constantly needed upgrades to just work. Creality never innovated despite selling a ton of printers. Prusa innovatived a little bit more, but they still make you spend hours assembling your printer, to be at a decent price. They even brag that you'll get to know your printer by assembling it. I didn't want to get to know my printer, So I bought a Bambu 699 P1S, and they actually innovated. The customer experience is amazing, out of the box ready, connects to Wi-Fi and my computer seamlessly, and works so well. It just works! So the other companies have to play catch-up only because they didn't innovate. Bambu is the best thing to happen to Prusa and Creality! And as far as it goes for me, I've learned 3D CAD software since I bought the P1S and I'm printing my own designs nearly every day.

I've had an OG solidoodle 4 for years, and upgraded it a bit. I'm tempted to get a new printer because these new ones blow it out of the water in features lol. The gap is getting bigger and bigger. The tech has come a long way. My stupid thing literally had plastic that just slid on the rails with no bearings. Made V wheels look amazing. What bugs me is all these new printers feel like money cutting cash grabs. Every printer I look up has so many issues. My printer sucked but with new rods and bearings and a good hot end it seems moe reliable than a lot of the 'new' printers that have more features but seem to fall apart or suck 24/7. But the internet also makes things hard, negativity travels faster. So I have no idea if buytingh a new printer is actually going to be nice or garbage.

I would say these wobbles have nothing to do with input shaping but just a bent z-leadscrew. both front rails are more or less fixed to the frame but the back lead screw holds everything without a linear rail. If you look carefully in minute 16:30 you can clearly see how severe this issue is. this leadscrew has to be replaced. the pattern is way too "perfect" to be software related. And the fact, that your first benchy already looked this bad, means that you didn't crash it xD

Review really needs to re-shot after a chitchat with the manufacturer. In general, I've found that this guys reviews come across as very whiny, especially when there's the least bit of resistance in some way. And yes crashing the machine like that is indeed his fault and he should stop trying to deflect the blame. If the printer does not have features that detect such crashes, then it is his fault and his fault entirely. (Besides, I wouldn't trust the AI features on any printer just yet, it's still early days in that regard and even the Bambu printers seem to fail to recognize spaghetti or other things anyway) He would do well to at least try to deep-dive into this subject and gain some kind of deeper understanding of how the machines work, I know some are not interested in that and want the thing to "just work", but even things that "just work" eventually fail and thats where a deeper understand comes in. I.e. if you have a problem, you can fix it yourself. And this comes into play in just about every other facet of life, lest you want to become that old grandma who needs help with her smartphone or computer all the damn time.

I watched reviews of this printer yesterday, for 5 hours, the display is crap add Klipper screen while they work out the fact that serial-based screens suck. None of the reviews I watched had the printing issues he had, after the first print I'd be on the phone, as you said, that is a mechanical problem. The machine looks solid, has linear rails everywhere, three Z axis independent motors, the CPU controller is running an open-source version of Linux and can be updated and maintained with a downside being no HDMI out from the controller. I figured worst case would be a replacement of the controller to get full access to all of Klippers features, I ordered one last night, be here Saturday. I installed Cartographer3D on a K1, it lost it's mind, parked the Cartographer3D device over the rear by the nozzle cleaning area dangling the cartographer3D device off the bed and then ordered Z to raise, needless to say I spent some time fixing that software mistake., Creality custom python klipper modifications.

I just replaced 5 SP3s and 2 SP5s with Qidi printers. Those two trees printers were an absolute nightmare until I spent many hours on the internet and learned how to write my own firmware. When I saw this wave of klipper printers coming out, and saw that the SK1 was coming, I had a feeling that the user experience would probably be similar to my other two trees printers. Which is why I went Qidi. And I honestly, partially, went Qidi because I didn't really like the fan boy mentality that is growing up around Bambu lab. But I did break down and buy a Bambu lab A1, and I love it. I guess my point is, I thought the SK1 would have issues and you have confirmed that. Thanks for the review!

Thank you for sparing me and no doubt others from getting caught up with this one. As for just having printers that work, I'm with you. I built my first printer, a delta, from parts around 10 years ago. I have tweaked and fiddled and klipperized multiple creality machines. I built a VMinion - total pain in the butt to build but an excellent and very reliable and repeatable printer. I even know what most of the settings mean in slicers. And I got fed up with every print on any printer other than the VMinion being a crap shoot, having to watch the first layer super closely because the printer that was carefully aligned and tweaked two days earlier no longer knows it's freaking Z offset. I had a real problem getting consistent (or any) prints using a 0.2mm nozzle even on the VMinion.
So... I just bought an A1 Mini. I have come so close to buying Bambu for almost a year now, and I finally just got so fed up that I figured what the hell, it's only $300, other closed architecture stuff works well, I've spent more and ended up with a printer that sucks, give it a go. It's great. It just works. I'm printing more stuff for my HO scale and other model making interests. I just printed 10 things in a row using a 0.2 mm nozzle at 0.08 mm layer heights without a single glitch. No clogs. It's great. The quality is good enough that things I would have done in resin before getting the A1Mini can in some cases be done via FDM. Swapping nozzles in under a minute, no fuss no muss, just swap the nozzle, change the slicer printer to reflect the new nozzle size, print the thing. Swap back to a 0.4 mm nozzle, fire up another set of prints. Walk away, no worries. How wonderful. I'm just having a hard time telling myself to wait for the A1 to be available again rather than springing for a P1S. I almost never print ASA or anything besides PLA varieties, so the cost difference will buy a lot of filament :-)
It's very nice after years of fiddling with printers to have a couple I can just use!

this was a great review and I think it highlights something I have been pointing out for a very long time: that a truly good product is made by the very people who actually USE said product. It doesn't matter how good you are at design or engineering, if you do not understand what the end user experience is like you cannot possibly account for the things they are going to want. It would seem that the people designing this printer have not actually sat down and used it and then asked themselves what they would want to see changed to make it better for THEM. If enough of them had their wish lists pulled together I would expect that many of their wishes would overlap and they would get a really good picture of that they could change to take it from ok to good and then to excellent.

You made so many very fantastic points regarding the nuances this printer has. The UI has some translation errors, the "quick start guide" is useless, etc.. etc.. and I 100% agree with you on all of those points. They definitely add a stale feeling to this printer. I would be terrible to say otherwise. As well, given your physical issues with the printing process, I can totally understand you having a very bad experience with the printer. In my experience, the printing was SUPER easy, prints were flawless from the first print, not issues with calibration, etc.. so the other tiny bits didnt offend me too much. I think it also helps that I prefer klipper based machines just due to inherent nature. All of that said, if I want a printer to JUST WORK and JUST GET MY PRINT DONE perfectly, the bambu has never failed me. I love my SK1, and in fact I actually really like its build quality as well, but again, for someone just wanting a printer to function without issues, calibrate automatically and correctly every time, etc.. the bambu is the way to go. I think you hit the nail on the head with this review, but even saying that, it's crazy to see how two different people had wildly different user experiences with it.

I think it will be interesting to see what the community will do to improve this printer. It looks like it has a lot of potential if some of the small issues get ironed out. I can see the hotend housing becoming an easy to print model w/ magnets right away once more folks get their hands on it.. Kind of curious if it could be retrofitted for other hotends too that way it's not reliant on two trees' hotend. I think i'm still keeping my eye on the Phrozen Arco for now though. It seems like the closest thing to the p1s/p1p alternative and they are really working on bringing a higher-end machine for around the same price.

Every review I watched on this machine didn't bring up anything at all and just said its the best printer ever made (buy from my affiliate link!). Bambu doesn't get a perfect score -- but they do a whole lot right, especially on the little details. Honestly, when you buy a cheap knock off, you can't be too surprised when you receive a cheap knock off. The SK1 is a cheap knock off, what you'll save in terms of money you'll just lose in terms of time and effort. Good review, you sassy young lad.

I waited too long on buying the 5M and the price jumped from 299 to 399, so I passed and bought a factory refurbished Ender 3 V3 SE. Other than it wants to stick a little too well to the bed and I had to start using hair spray to make it easier to remove prints, it's a nice printer. You're not wrong on the 'it's a tool, not a toy' aspect. If you want to fiddle with a printer, that's what Vorons and DIY builds are for. I've done my time with building and upgrading a printer at this point; now I have backlogs to deal with and things need to be done where a quality machine comes in. Hell, I still have a six year old Delta that I'm considering refurbing for the third time, but it's working so well as a critical pillar for my crap corner...
Well, that, and the whole free time quotient being -1.

Very nice touch with the slow rewind in the end. You sure had a hard time finding anything positive to say about this machine. I have lately been more and more puzzled over the fact so many manufacturers keep trying to make copies, to fail miserably since it’s nowhere near the original. Seems there’s no assessment process at all or; ok, it’s shit but we’ll release it anyway since we put all this effort into it and we might fool someone into buying it. 🙈

I have the predecessor to this machine, the Two Trees Sapphire Pro and its just bewilderingly bad when it didn't need to be. They couldn't be bothered to even position the steppers in the correct alignment to the gantry and so the print head over travels in some coordinates and under in others. It seemed such a steal for something that so heavy duty and feature packed, but it feels like it was designed by someone trying to reverse engineer a printer but who've never actually built or even used one before.

Spot on out of the gate, the user experience is absolutely what keeps BL eating everybody's lunch. It's unfortunate this one seems like another "looks the same, most of similar features" without that, and some QA issues to boot w that z lead screw issue. The wait for a viable BL alternative without the BL baggage continues.

Other reviews show perfect corners, such curvatures are either issues with the slicer or horrendous lead screws on the z axes, i tend to believe is something with the slicer and the settings. Linear rails are way more accurate and reliable than the carbon fibre rods babulab uses in the p1p and p1s. not to mention it does not need a poop shut so wastes very little filament. Basic hardware and motion system using linear rail makes ialmost as good as a Voron, on top that is open source makes it a better choice for me, What I need to confirm is how real is the vertical distortion shown here.

With my head injury I would not even touch this machine, the Bambu x1 carbon is easy to use. Basically it’s a Kiss machine that even a dummy like me can run. I’ve had ender 3 clone, any cubic cr-6 se and others. I don’t want to always being doing maintenance on one or two machines, after my experience of upgrading most of them I will never get a machine that you have to do that. I’ve worked as a machinist running manual and CNC machines all of them require maintenance and additional upgrades as they become available. But dang all these 3d FDm printers expect the bambu that I own is a maintenance hell, I’m dumping 4 FDm and 1 resin printers. On my resin printers my gk Two just works like the bambu. On the Resin printer had the mars 2p great little printer got rid of it just run out of space, got rid of a non working Anycubic mono 6 k, the mono is so so, the M5s I hate. the elegoo mars 3 is good and the 4dlp size wise work great as a substitute for small parts when the gk is in use. I just want a printers that works I can go in and hit print. Looking at the Voron for FDm printer I look at them they are work, print great than you have to build it. This machine looks like you are always going to be working on it no thank a good boat anchor. As always great video. With my head injury everyone I feel your pain in reading posts. Lol

The hotend may not be a 1to1 bambu clon but you can just put the bambu clone hotends into it. But beware they use different sized connectors than the p1p and technically a different tempsensor.

Honestly I feel like the "Did the printer warn about a previous print on the bed" should almost be a test you run for FDM printing. My wife and I both use our printer, it's happened that one of us thought the bed was empty and started something up remotely from the other room and caused an issue. Once it happens I have to redo all my bed leveling and it's a pain.

One the ecosystem side, I absolutely despise the locked down systems. I want the option to just grab whatever damn thing I want, to use 3rd party stuff, to fuck up if I want. But you are 100%, most 3d printers really need to have a better out of the box "Just works" experience. I might be fine with fiddling with settings, but most people want to hit Print and have it done. People only have so much time.

The enclosure is available now. 546 Euro Printer incl the enclosure, you can compare it to bambu, but the price...
My kit comes in today with the enclosure, not sure yet if the camera is included.
Aux Fans. Top and side panels, filters and external air fan
But my Sapphire Pro was exactly the same, it comes as an working machine, with plenty of room to mod.
And Hardware is good, but this is aimed at people who know their 3d printing, it is not a brand for starters.

You are not alone at all. The whole direction of the modern 3d printers is towards being an appliance . I Know enough to do some work but id prefer the Company does all that for me instead of leaving it to the community or ME. I'm paying or getting an appliance from you, company, you have far more time and resources then I do, so do all the R&D and tests before you send it to me or take my money. That's your job Period.

Having bought a printer from TwoTrees before, their SP-5 v1.1 unit. It looked to be an alright machine, however the customer service of TwoTrees was abyssmal. There were some stripped threads on the parts that came pre-assembled (among other issues, like cables ripped from the print bed, that had to be resoldered, their QA is just terrible). The customer support basically went in a hazing ritual, where first they wanted images, then they wanted videos of the issue, then they wanted me to prove that there is no oil on the screw (however that is supposed to work), then they accused me of using the wrong size of screwdriver bit, then the video is not well lit enough, and so on and so forth.
If they work out of the box and everything is great, sure, but since the support is terrible and they don't sell spare parts for the mechanics of their machines, I'd never consider purchasing from them again.

I saw this printer on 3D Printer Deals and I thought it was a Bambu Labs clone. Turns out I’m not the only one who thought this.

This really just means that Bambu labs' factory in china had its tooling leaked out or they are selling parts on the black market to resellers. This is actually a good thing because it'll force them to update to differentiate themselves from the cheap clones.

The wobble is a bent leadscrew, printer is trashed.
If the printer had v6 nozzles and plain klipper UI it would be significantly more useful than a p1p, theoretically the linear rails would even give better print quality

Ross, theese wobbles looks like typical Z-wobble. It's not about the belts tension, but a problem with one of three of the t-rod nuts. The entire rod might wobble when bed goes up and down. It needs that problem nut's holding screws to be unscrewed and screwed back. It is a printer assemble problem from what I see.

I just want to point out that using a spray can indoors is *_NOT_* safe, whether you use a spray booth or not. Stick an air quality monitor in the room and you can see for yourself. Those booths are simply not calibrated for such a high volume, plus the content of the cans tends to be far more toxic than airbrush primers and such.

Long story short: buy a Creality K1, Sovol SV07 or Ender 3v3 instead. Those 330 - 450 bucks are invested much better. Because they work out of the box.

Expectation Management and rushing to get something out are probably the biggest culprets here, that's squarely on TwoTrees.
This is clearly not a printer for beginners, but it doesn't feel like its a bad printer (or at least, has the *potential* to be a good one). I feel if they hadn't been so aggressive in attempting to clone the Bambu (even down to the price) it would have been easier to forgive, and reccomend.
