How does your replacement hip feel about getting in and out of your Eliese? I am now 75. 6'4" tall and 180 lbs. I have had a bad right hip for over 15 years. I finally found a local surgeon that I could get an anterior total hip replacement from locally in January of 2023 and he had a good track record here in Kettering Ohio. The problem was that as he was ending our second appointment, he suggested I sell my Miata if I was getting my hip replaced! I have had two passions for fun during my life. One was roadsters and the other was riding hunt seat. I do not have horses any longer, but I will not give my roadster. Since I was 16 I have had sports cars. In high school it was Jags (XK-120s') MG and Triumph. But since 2001 it has been my 2001 Miata. When the surgeon said to think about selling my Miata if I got the hip replaced, I cancelled. What a bummer! Now I can only drive about 100 miles before the pain gets really bad.

I totally empathize because I love my Elise! As the years pass, it gets harder and harder to get in/out, but I don't think that has anything to do w/my hip replacement. It is more my general lack of flexibility. Did you watch the video where I eased myself behind the wheel of my Alfa Romeo 4C at about four weeks post-op? Getting in/out of the 4C is almost identical to the Elise with the top on.
I don't understand why your surgeon said what he did about your Miata. Once you have healed from surgery, you should have equal or better flexibility than you do with your bad hip. Granted, at 75 it may take you longer to get back into it than me, but I don't see why not. Did he give any specific reasons?
Generally speaking, I find surgeons provide generic advice and are overly cautious. When it comes to your passion, I think you're entitled to challenge what the surgeon says and seek a deeper understanding of his reasoning as it may or may not apply to you as an individual.
Hope this helps and let me know how things evolve.

    Such a beautiful car

I plan to wait for a GT version which hopefully is a non detuned AMG with 420+ hp. The Toyota V6 is limited to 6500 rpm. Previous Evora GT is faster and more track focused by many reports. Prices will drop fast, $100+k is ridiculous

Well, I hope you're wrong about rapid price drops, but that would be the norm historically for almost any car. Thanks for watching!

The Emira is under represented in the USA.

Agreed, but maybe that will change as they become more common. Thanks for watching!

So, did the Lotus dealer give you a window of your Emira delivery yet?

I've been working on that this afternoon. I think I'm going to be able to pick it up next Friday!🎉🏎️

@@Life411 Galpin lotus sent me an email several weeks ago and they told me that my delivery should happen before this month’ end and haven’t received any updates yet! It also isn’t very comforting to know that the new Emiras are being sold these days on Cars & Bids for thousands less than what we are now being charged as the 2.0 version! 🤔

Bummer, hope you get an update soon. Might still happen this month. For me, it will be just over a week between the time I received "the email" and take delivery of my Emira. I haven't been following the auctions...probably better for my mental health not to do so. Hang in there!

Hope your Emira delivery went well since you haven’t posted any videos yet! Mine not so good, dealer called on 5/13 saying it arrived and went over to see it last week and it 1/4 and back glasses all tinted, even though I checked NO on Privacy glass! They said that it actually a Privacy Glass delete, so therefore by saying NO it basically means yes!!!🤨 Any thoughts? Hope yours went smoothly.✌🏻

@@levik12 Thanks for checking in. I owe you and all my viewers an update. Unfortunately, my delivery coincided with a crazy amount of life events so I haven't had the time to put out a first video since taking delivery...but I'm planning several!
Sorry about the window tint and dealer response. I went back and played with the configurator, looked at the Summary after making selections, looked at the (i)nformation pop-up, etc. It looks to me as you described...if you check that box, you want window tint. If it is unchecked, you don't. I'd double-check your configuration in the configurator, especially since there were two configurators and that changed over time, and then push back on the dealer if it looks like Lotus screwed it up. I know someone locally whose Emira came with the wrong interior color!
Let me know how it works out and good luck!

    C8 hands down is better

I think it depends on what factors are important to you, but I agree the C8 is a fabulous car and I hope to own one some day! Did you see the video where I did a C8 vs Emira comparison? Thanks for watching!

Common, rapidly depreciating, fugly looks. Hopefully they clean up the lines on the next gen. Emira looks far better
