I watch all TH-cam videos in either 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, or 2x speed, depending on how slowly the information is being given. (click on the settings wheel on the vid, then look for the word "normal" and click in there to change the speed). I have saved so much time on wasting time on YT this way! LOL
I do this for nearly everything. I know people train to talk slower when presenting information but omg so slow. There are some channels I wish had something faster than 2x. If only this was a feature in college.
I really like how specific and tangible this video is in talking about ways we can use automation tools and even tools like voice to chat to save us time. The 40 hour work week can be a thing of the past.
Ok i have to say your style looks incredible lately, especially in this video! I know you mentioned in previous videos that you’re evolving your style and it’s looking amazing. Also the shots and editing in this video are 10/10. Amazing work shelby!
There was a study that most employees aren't productive their first hour. They drink coffee, eat breakfast, talk to other employees, and surf the internet.
OMG this is so true. I am work from and I use my first hour to get logged in, get coffee and feed by cat. By the time I start working I have been at work for 40 mins. I still hit all my goals.
Great video! Using voice-to-text instead of typing is something I never really thought about and I will definitely try! Also the ChatGPT tasks you mentioned are pretty mind-blowing, like having it rename files for you, based on their content. I really like this type of video. Great job!
Best video ever!!! I'm an admin assistant and I going to work these things into my job. There's no chance that my week can be 20 hrs, but the weeks that were going to be 60 can fit into 40 hours
Shelby, I love how concise and wonderful you take the time to share all these nuggets. I'm thinking the best thing to do is take a break and rest to keep energized! Loved this vlog!!!
Love all these efficiency tips! While I’ve known about some of these for a while (like voice to text), you’ve given me the push to finally give them a try. Also, your cinematography is top notch.
The reminder thing is so true. I use Alexa for time related task and I do not have to look at my clock constantly. Like " Alexa remind me to start cooking at 5:30" or "Alexa remind me to stop editing at 6pm". I am very forgetful so setting a reminder is my fav thing to do on my Alexa.
Very helpful habits. My helpful habits include getting most of my work done in 2 hours so that I have the rest of the day to do investing especially in turnkey asset real estate
Great Video! I call myself the "Queen of Efficiency", but it's mostly specific to my career as a hand weaver! I got some great tips from your video! Thanks!
I would spend so much time correcting the voice-to-text for spelling and grammar; I think I type faster than I speak anyway. Of course, I'm from the Southeastern United States. Haha. But I am a huge fan of macros, text strings, keyboard shortcuts, etc. at work!!! It saves so much time.
Great tips Shelby! (I do the Fn double-tap for my microphone). Here’s one (I use for multi-step shortcuts, including “pause” time amounts in case you know a certain task takes-a-sec): KEYBOARD MAESTRO I bet Sam knows it 🤔
One time saving strategy, I follow that is - I connect my camera with a capture card and record facecam, screen sharing, dynamic microphone all together in obs studio - so that I can pause the recording any time and I don’t have to transfer footage for editing and sync audio in post
Shelby: good video but your last VLOG channel video giving a real estate investment analysis was AMAZING and you made it look so basic. Point being, instructional videos are the most effective on both of your channels. The Joshua Tree project will be a great subject. CONTENT..........CONTENT..........EONTENT..............great videography even with the average fluff.....
The Chat GPT segment was really interesting. I'm going to have to look into it. I do use Siri for notes and reminders all the time. It's great except that she doesn't always get the wording correct but it's close enough that I can figure out what it meant. I use Google home for some reminders as well.
That speaking instead of writing tip is GREAT!!! I was just at work and instead of handing the bank teller a written note that she would have to spend time reading. I just told her it was a robbery, and she started handing me the money SO MUCH quicker than usual. The time that saved allowed me to get away successfully. Just to avoid any legal issues the above comment is 100% a joke and no robberies were committed in the making of this post.
I myself like to have the least time but the most productivity. It is important to work usefully, that is, if I work 50 hours but it is not useful, it is not useful, but if I work 4 hours but it is useful, it is much better.
This was amazing, thanks Shelby!! You inspired me to download Chat GPT and it literally helped me plan out an itinerary for an upcoming trip to Arches National Park!! It’s truly unbelievable what it can do based on your parameters
The 40 hour 5 day work week came about in the late 1930's, but before that the typical work week was 60 hours 7 days a week due to a lack of national labor laws. That's not to say that people wouldn't be happier and equally productive with a shorter work week, but the current norm is a vast improvement over what came before it. Also, shortcuts are crucial. I use keyboard shortcuts in all my work programs because it's much faster. On top of that I have a mouse that can take programmable macros PER PROGRAM, so even if an action doesn't necessarily have a keyboard shortcut I can program a sequence of events to a button on my mouse which turns multiple clicks on the mouse and keyboard into 1 click. There's also keyboards with the same feature. I've been using macros for years and don't know if I could maintain my sanity without them.
Since you're into keyboard shortcuts, let me introduce you to the world of programmable macro pads. They're like a separate numpad, except the keys are undefined and you can program them to hit a series of keys for you with just a single press. So no more annoying 3+ key combo shortcuts, just 1 :)
I'm not sold on the voice to text, apart from note taking. Coming up with the text itself is the hard part usually, and often you have to revise or rephrase it multiple times. Like I had to do with this comment 😅 But great if it works for you of course 😊
This is kind of niche, but if I have a general idea I’m trying to get across, and I can’t figure out the perfect wording for it, I just tell ChatGPT to come up with a text or an email with the ideas I have to say in either professional manner or friendly, etc. obviously not for something as simple as a TH-cam comment, but typically for work lol.
I will try it but it makes sense. When you're speaking to someone you aren't sitting there silent for 30 seconds trying to construct the right sentence; you just speak. Ironically, I typed this out and made edits
Could not agree more. I can produce a report in a half day that would normally take me a week. And that includes research if I need to. Truly I am saving half a week each week. AI has saved me an enormous amount of time.
I use chat gpt to write a lot of stuff like my books and my email and my articles and everything so I know what it’s like to take a load of time off your day
Hi Shelby, I really enjoy your videos-they’ve been incredibly helpful and informative! I was wondering if you could create a video or share some tips on ways to make money as a college student. I'm currently taking the maximum credits at my university, which limits me to working just four hours a week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as my budget is quite tight right now. Thank you, and keep up the amazing content! P.s. I used chat GPT to enhance my comment. I’ll definitely be using it more in the future. Thank you so much for that recommendation, it helped me save some time already!

It's funny, I didn't speed up this video but I almost always speed them up to 1.5!
Haha I do this sometimes too but sometime I just like to enjoy at the normal speed
I do this for nearly everything. I know people train to talk slower when presenting information but omg so slow. There are some channels I wish had something faster than 2x. If only this was a feature in college.
That's a game changer
Shelby talk to text is saving me so much time already thank you so much. I literally came back to this video to tell you!
I’m a retired attorney turned entrepreneur and you’ve blown my mind with these tips. Thanks for teaching an old dog some new tricks!

girl, your style, hair, jewelry, makeup, and look is on POINT in this vid! Love all of the looks in the Quince movie montage too!
Thank you so much!!
"Typing pisses me off" merch. 💡Honestly I love the Dictation app and I had no idea about the default control x 2 shortcut.

I even fell in love with how you picked the ideas you had for your next video and presented it ❤ trully remarkable 👍
I love the clipboard history (Windows+V) so you can copy and paste multiple things at a time.
OMG this is a good one gonna start using this
Thank you for sharing this one!
Loving the hair

Hey Shelby, I really enjoyed these personal tips from you. Super helpful. I appreciate the level of detail and examples provided. Thank you
shelby out here triggering HomePods nation wide
100% of those Quince pieces look stunning on you. Hopefully Quince will have international shipping soon.
keyboard shortcuts are the best. the closest thing to being able to beam your thoughts direction into the app you're using

I find it helps to have browser extensions for literally everything you do. Saving WEBP images to anything else, the password manager, etc
Excellent video, very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!

Good video. Loved it.
Loved the plant in the backdrop. Would love to see what the whole thing looks like for inspiration. Whether fake or real! 😍😛

You’re my favorite TH-camr hands down and you make me want to start my own channel🫢♥️
what a great video! thank you so much for great advices i really have to learn them
I love these types of videos. It applies to me 👍. Thank you. I use voice to text on my watch while I'm doing steps 🚶. Good luck 😘 🌹 💞 🐨

the only thing here I haven't tried is the GPT4 - I should! but I definitely spend all day long speaking to my tech like a crazy woman xD

Shelby there is literally a button on Mac for voice to text. No need for a shortcut 😅
I just preferred the command button then the touchscreen type button I think it's faster!
@@ShelbyChurch ah I see, it might be more ergonomic. I meant F5 button on M series Mac. Anyway, thanks for replying ☺️☺️

What program do you use for voice to text? Is it just google?
We have HomePods in our living room. When Shelby was demonstrating her Siri use, our HomePods would respond to her. It was kinda funny.
hahahah sorry!!
Love it such a good video

@@ShelbyChurch Thank you!
actually cool
What's that red dot?
Great video I can point people to that are still hesitant to try AI!
Don't you have to heavily edit text from transcribing with voice to text?
How do I use voice to text? Is it an app???
Interesting that you’re grading videos in Da Vinci. Faster to not bother shooting log and just edit in iMovie?
I use chat gpt for planning dinners for the week and responding to emails/texts I don’t know how to answer.
Oh love that!
For e-mails answer with "New employee, who dis?"
For texts answer with "new phone, who dis?"
How do you come up with video ideas where you don't get repetitive? Where your audience will say I've seen this video before.
Wow, amazing how much you use AI! Pretty good, especially in your field. :)
That first one seems stupid. I type at almost the speed I talk. You seem to type about 35WPM. I type at about 80-85.
Voice Texting is not perfect. Some times you would say a word and it types in a different word. But it's still faster.
😀😁🤫
Work smarter not harder.
Great, but I type faster than speak. But those don't even work in my mother tongue. So useless for me...
You have really big hands
First
Lean to type, once proficient you are way faster than talking.
I know how to type but I will never type faster than talking
That’s just factually incorrect. You will never be able to type faster than you talk. Plus you’ll get fatigued way faster typing than talking.
You talk too fast..ish
