This is the kind of renovation project I’ve always wanted to undertake. If I had the money, I would take on this beautiful old girl and breathe new life into her. 😍
Behind my mothers house in a small town in Scotland there was a lovely Gothic primary school, dating from the creation of the town. It had an annexe, horrible modern thing and there was a fire. Not long after there was a small fire in the Gothic part so they knocked down the whole school to rubble. They didn't try to adapt it or save the facade. There was no damage to the structure. It is now a wasteland waiting for some corrupt official to decide which bribe to take to build some housing instead. On the high street they demolished a huge stone warehouse, again from the creation of the town and they rebuild another one in cheap materials as a sueprmarket. They say that the Dutch revival library will be next. The gothic building that used to house the police station is now some random office with nice pvc windows. How sad that we cannot save our past, it was so solidly built.
The wood walls in the attic are incredibly beautiful. That would be so much fun to fix up and I would try to keep the design just like it is. Thanks for sharing.
Nice one Alec, such a beautiful wee Manse that one, B listed and empty for decades. The church beside it is now just a barn, what a waste of a gorgeous wee property. Cheers guys, see you on the next one ❤
That old mansion still has potential. I hope that it can be saved by someone who can give it the TLC it deserves. They don’t build them like that anymore.
Aww, such a beautiful house and sad to see it being left to rot away. My parents house, in Scotland, has servants bells and a door bell the same that rings in the kitchen. We also have the same ironwork in the banisters.
The whole table cloth just disintergrated on the kitchen table due to the passing years. Looks also like someone has stolen the fireplaces. Must have been a great house in its day. Thanks for showing us.
oooo the staircase, the arched doorways, beautiful woodwork , doors, the mattresses would be the first to go. Must be damp if all the wallpaper is falling off. I so wish I could take on renovation of a home like this, what a dream to restore it to glory keeping the original touches
the round thing (I forget what they're called) is also something frequently used to make cheese. it's used for separating the curds and whey. what an amazing house! I'd give my eye teeth to be able to bring something like that back to life. thanks!

It`s a shame that all the fireplace mantles were removed or stolen. It`s too bad that you guys went too fast on older details except on outside. Big potential overall , love these video, still a good job, gratz to you.
Yes, the fellas need to slow down and show close up details of the staircases and such. LOVE the facade of this building, though in my opinion it's not such a beauty of inside.
It looks like there were coats of arms above the door porch outside and above an upstairs window. If visible this could give you a clue to the family that once lived here originally.
Hi Guys. I'm Liz from Michigan USA. Loved watching you guys crunching thru all those tall weeds just to get to the old mansion. That is one creepy place. I had a little difficulty understanding some of your conversation. I'm not used to that Scottish accent! But I really enjoyed your video. Thumbs up! 👍👍👍👍👍
If this house still is standing beyond Armageddon, I'll be along with my crew and like Kazzas73 states, breath new life into her! Lovely house, love the stair railing. All brick and stone and still standing! You can't find homes like this in this world made in this way by great craftsmen!
Beautiful house which could be used again. Large, long term project but looks like it would make a great family home, you would need to spend a fair bit making it accessible too.
An absolutely amazing building very historic on the outside but some of the upper are too modern but the staircase and kitchen yes very historic bar the cooker, but your getting closer I hope to more ancient castles please 🙏🙏🙏🙏
upstairs where the servants lived It was a fantastic house and the roof looked in good condition shame someone stole all the fireplaces but could be brought back to life
Sooooo beautiful on the outside, like from a gothic novel, and it would be on the inside too if it were mine. I want it. Damn it.😖😭 I didn't know there were so many trees in Scotland, it's a freaking jungle.😳👍💚🖖😍
I think I've seen this before Alec, didn't you explore this beauty already? Doesn't look like much has changed. What a jungle you had to trek through. Cheers.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
With all the homeless in the uk and Scotland why on earth can’t these abandoned properties be put to use instead of being left to rot. The government can do so much to help, why don’t they wake up and really help.
Wow. I love stone buildings. Just beautiful. All the beautiful woodwork in the staircase, window frames and doors. What a shame it's abandoned. I'd definitely restore it if I was rich!
The attic is my favorite as well. What type of wood is it? Wow!! I'm guessing pine or cedar and both are nurturing to smell. It looks like a country mansion, extremely well built. The exterior is stunning. I would love to visit Scotland! Thank you!❤
See someone has been in and ripped the original fireplaces out, so sad, hope karma has seen them. What a beautiful sone house though, lovely windows, staircase and features. Would not take much to bring her back to life..I hope somebody does :-)
It was such a pretty house. Is it location that makes this house not useful anymore? If it's fairly near a village with a pub and shops and also has access to outdoor recreation areas it could be a great guest house for someone with capital and ambition.
Good solid house, would have liked to have seen the fireplaces sadly all nicked, just how many folk lived there with so many beds or did it used to be a school? The exterior is truly stunning. Pleased you're back Alec but take a machete next time😂.
The top floor rooms are partly storage and partly servants quarters. It may have had some different uses over the years, but that's how it started out.
Amazing video. If you can ever explore The Mansion in Gracemount in the south side of Edinburgh it's an amazing place. Not sure if a boxing club uses it now.
Bela casa, é uma pena que esteja abandonada e esteja neste estado. Não consigo entender como as pessoas abandonam as casas dessa forma. Parabéns pelo vídeo.
Actually that house is in pretty good shape considering rip up some of those floors room by room and replace them give me a good start there's nothing else to ever owns this needs to clean up the grounds outside the house and rent it out to movie studios you're always looking for facades of this nature it would have been nice to know who owns the house I may need some history
If any old building is not going to be used and it has to be removed I always say use everything from it yes I know you have to be careful of asbestos and lead paint but we know how to deal with these things 😊
Already I'm jealous of the abundant purple rhododendron shrubs and the lovely evergreen tree that appears at the start. How many rooms, how many bedrooms are in that house? If I could, and though I'm not rich, I'd be all about making a livable part of a place like that, and slowly doing what I could with what I have to make it lovely again. OR, if only it could work out that several like-minded people could purchase these places, pool resources to bring them back, and enjoy living there. But I know that human nature and contentiousness would work its way in, and the idea of living idyllically and peacefully within the rescued beauties just wouldn't work out.
Always amazes me that the roof ridgelines on these old rotting buildings are still staight as an arrow!!!! Yet recent builds just bow in the middle. They knew how to build them better back then than they know today!!!!
Well there's one thing, if there's any snakes you wont see them 😂😂 I'd be knackered after that. Thats one of the best conditions i've seen of an abandoned building. Im curious of its location. Never seen it before. Thoroughly enjoyed. 👍👍💯💯👍👍
What a beautiful mansion! How was it built before that such houses stand unscathed for decades without care?!!! It is very interesting, what year was it built? But the renovation seems to have been relatively recent, in the last century. I wonder what it looked like inside before the renovation? There seemed to be a balcony above the main entrance. I am glad that the whole house is in excellent condition, not looted or broken, it's just a pity that some vandal tore out the cladding of the fireplaces.
I love your videos, but some research into the history would really add to the experience. I love learning about old places like this. When was it built, what kind of families lived here, why did they leave it? A lot of old and newer aspects to the poor old home, it'd be cool to know more. Thank you.
