We are not danish. We are 1300 kilometers away from Denmark. We speak Faroese. Not danish. We CAN speak danish, but it’s not our first language. The books you thought were in danish were not. They were in Faroese. It’s not an island, but islands(plural). 18 islands. It IS a country. We have our own parliament and make our own policies. Our parliament ‘lögtingið’, is the oldest parliament in the world as it was formed in the start of the 800s during the viking age. The Faroe Islands are however within the danish kingdom, as we share a monarch. Denmark only controls military and airspace. Faroese is a very special language as it is very close to Old Norse, because of the isolation of these islands. Just wanted to clear those things up! Very interesting video! ps: your pronounciation of Tórshavn(Thor’s Harbour) and Norðragøtu were terrible 😂
😂😂😂 I told my husband (after yelling at my screen) "someone better let them know Faroe is its own country!" I could not figure out what "noro ragato" was either! Port of Noro is in the Solomon Islands which would be REALLY impressive for a 90yo guy to get to alone 😂
I'M 46 I DON'T HAVE NO ONE CHICKS ON ME. OR COME BUY EXCEPT THE BUG GUY COMES BUY TO SPRAY FOR BUG 🐛. IF I PASS AWAY 2 THANGS HAPPENED IS SMILL OR RENT HAS NOT BEEN PAYD
Hello, Lesley! It's really interesting to find out about the people's life on this island ! A special place indeed with great stories ! Thank you for sharing ! ❤
I noticed that too, made me think that people have a lot of respect for each other and they don't need the distance of space to have privacy. When I visited Rotterdam in Amsterdam, most people didn't close the curtains on the front windows of their home. I asked someone why and they said 'I have nothing to hide and why would I look into another person's home?'
@@derekmahon1652nowadays though you can not live thinking like that . Living life is like driving a car you have to assess the danger miles ahead of you . Precautions it’s important .
An interesting little explore. I knew as soon as you walked in he was like me. No cleaning lady nor wife in his life. He'd lived a simple, but fruitful life actually thriving well. I too wish to live in a place and community like that, but can't for it's not my home. I saw a video recently where Faroe Islands had China build a new bridge for them so they don't have to drive nor use boats as much saving time. They're really rich today and very safe. I'd love to have been from a nice place with a solid family and community. That is the dream we can't have nor achieve unless one is born into such scenario. They don't have to worry about war, homelessness, and poverty for sure.
You didn’t go into the basement which is where the fireplace to warm the house would probably have been. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Much love from Australia
again without fail leslie and danny spin an illustrious tale and make majik happen even in a tiny home. always a pleasure to follow these 2 on their travels.
This is what you guys showed me with this video: make room for people in your home. Everything cannot be a work space. Or one day you will be surrounded with nothing but projects, and you may go out to sea and die alone.😶🌫️
Books give a great insight into people's interests. It will be a loss when one day people no longer keep bookshelves of books, as we won't have any idea what people liked to read and learn.
Faroe Islands!! Had to google that one Lesley! What a neat place. Sad he died alone at sea, but you know, he was doing what he loved and lived how he wanted to!! But my goodness that is a tiny place.!! Needs lots of work inside and out but they want how many dollars??
Real estate in the Faroe Islands is extremely expensive. A house of that size costs around 500.000 Euro in Tórshavn, but because of the location of that house, central part of Tórshavn, near the old part of the city, Reyni, the price could easily be double that, despite one had to invest the same amount of more to update/modernize the house to current standards Everything is super expensive on the islands
Hello Lesley and Danny! Interesting history of the owner of the house. Very tiny but full of item's and memories. Sad the men died alone in the sea. I am hope the new owner keep some item's and donated the other's to people needs. ❤The panoramic views are amazing 👏 😊🤗👌👍
How cool. What a beautiful area. Bless this little man who lived in existence of fishing. This was not an easy life. To live 96 years it’s just amazing. Thank you for documenting this. Very interesting.

Hey there, dear Lesley that looks somehow interesting. I am already waiting with excitement, what you are going to show us about that abandoned location. - Take care, and stay safe, my friend! Peace, many hugs and very snowy greetings from now freezing cold Switzerland.
Very interesting home & explore. It's enjoyable to see how people in faraway remote areas live. 😊👍 I had a fisherman neighbor who spent weeks at sea on an old boat & this house reminds me of his boat cabin - cramped, dark, low ceilings & a bit messy. By comparison, though, this home is spacious compared to a boat cabin. I'm glad he died where he seemed to love most.
Thank you for bringing all these wonderful places to us. If I may ask, what happened to last week's episode on the school in America? I was half way through then it was gone?😮 Keep up with the good work 😊
The same thing happened to my sister! She messaged me when it happened and she said what the heck is going on??!! lol I don't know what happened, but I suspect it may have been because of the biohazardous materials that were left behind. I'm guessing someone is in a bit of trouble for not taking the proper steps of disposal. But I don't really know, that's just me making a guess.
Outer Hebrides, The North Scottish Islands! Many of them with people still living in them today and a youth hostel on Lewis that is run by the RAF! Fun place to visit!
The books suggest an intellectual mind, philosophy, math, Homer, and any admirer of Bertrand Russell is someone I would like to have met. You found a tape recorder, there might be some audio recordings somewhere.
Thank you so much. I so enjoy your channel…the way you respect the history… brings me so much joy.. to be able to see all that you have seen. Thank you again 🎉
Wonderful little house. He lived a long happy life here. He must have had an account for his water and electricity bill to be paid out of. Thanks, guys for documenting the house. Loved it. I had to laugh at you saying it was 1 of a flock of homes there. Hahaha! I thought of a flock of geese. 😂❤
There are quite a few of these old dilapidated houses spread around the islands. I think you might have found one of the more interesting ones with some rich history.
Hello Leslie and Danny I have missed your show so much , it is very sad story ❤❤ but the house is so nice 🎉🎉 thank you so much for sharing and love your show so much .🎉🎉
Beautiful historical home, love the look of the island, the house is unique and enough room for one person, look like this person love children stories book, it’s great way to keep his harts young, he probably loved to read a lot when he at the sea that why he had a lot of collection of books, very interesting to discover someone journey and unique story life, thank you for sharing.
Maybe the childrens books are things that he delivered to the less fortunate children of the places he went for his fishing. What an interesting place. And beautiful as well. Even tho ive nrver heard of these islands it would be wonderful to see them. I love what you do. Its so amazing.
@loveshearing8483 Danny`s Channel is ES Forgotten..he is from Portugal...Danny & Lesley travel together in a White Van that Lesley`s Dad fixed up for them to travel in!!
Maybe people should buy on the shetland islands first property i spotted on-line was £295,000 you got a stone built house,a wooden building that could cheaply made into a house or b&b a massive agricultural building oh and 120 acres of land, this is of course if the faroe islands is too expensive or you're not Danish not bad for £295,000 and you have muness castle virtually in your back garden its at the end of the lane where the croft is....
I loved this one. It's hard to imagine living in that small. How do the bigger families do it. Love the work you and Danny do. Blessings and ❤ from Teena, Lafayette, Indiana. Home of Purdue University.
Good video, but I want to add that we are not a Danish enclave. The Faroes are autonomous, and we speak our own language. You make it sound like we don't have our own language. We are a part of Denmark, but we are not Danish. Anyway, it is good that you filmed this place because it will likely be completely renovated soon.

Every fisherman I grew up with hoped when their time came to pass away on their boat. This man met his perfect ending.
Old man and the sea. ❤
He clearly collected teapots and books, loved music, and fished. What a full and marvelous life he must have lived.
If those walls could talk. What a guy! 96yo! 😢 That's just heartbreaking to me he died alone, but don't we all. Great video guys! Beautiful story.

Omg that's a lot of money for such a small house with no yard and so run down but its expensive to live everywhere now. Beautiful island!!
