    Good video! I especially liked your comment about the inadequacies of today's club fitting being restricted to the 7-iron. Even Ping that prides itself on fitting everyone are limited to the 7-iron. I agree that something should be done.

    Excellent video and I love the honesty about how it can be difficult to fit a full set based only on one iron. The amount of variability from player to player from iron to iron can be huge. Just because you’re 2 degrees upright in your 6 iron doesn’t mean that holds true for the entire set. You are doing your part so that is appreciated 🙏

    Had same issue at fitting but luckily my fitter games the MMC and he brought them by for me to try. Ended up with blended MB upto 7i and 6-4 in MMC. HMB gave little feedback so wasn't a big fan but that said prefer them over 790's. Shame MMC was not built with same look as the MB and HMB, would look nice in the bag, but at address and in play they are very similar. Thanks for the excellent video.

    Interesting stuff. We'd argue that in the MP Fli-Hi, MP-H4 and MP-H5 Mizuno was ahead of the industry curve with better players hollow irons.......probably a bit too far ahead for any of those to really stick at the time.

      mizunogolfeurope completely agree with you in numbers and data, the only difference is the p790 nailed the aesthetics and the consumer responded. Believe the aesthetics of your range this year will make a big difference in the top end of the bag and the lower end has always looked sharp 👌

    Had this issue today at a fitting for Titleist irons. Only had 7 irons to test (t100, was very nice). Walked away. If I’m going to guess what’s the point in a fitting? How do you calculate the numbers for spin, launch etc from a 7 to a 4 iron?

  • @booger65man
    @booger65man 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you explain why they chose to gaps these the way they have? If they want 2 degrees stronger why not carry that through the PW? Then you could build a wedge set starting as say 48 and maintain a 4 degree gap throughout the set. I cannot understand why they chose to widen the gap to 5 degrees when getting into the scoring clubs where distance control is a premium.

  • @thehairygolfer
    @thehairygolfer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder if you get more if you upgrade from a fitting centre to a performance centre? Last time I got fit for MP18 they had a full set of heads to try. Let's face it, if you feel you want HMB from 6 iron up you don't need to hit every single head to know you have made the correct decision. Equally if I want MB from 7 iron down I don't need to hit every single iron to know I have made the right choice.

    I am off 15 and play my MP60s from PW up to 5i and I hit it well up to the 5i. I also have the 4i in my bag, but use it not often and only from the tee. So if I would replace my MP60s I would like to get the MP20s from PW to 5i. No need for longer irons, because I use a 19° hybrid and that works well for longer shots. Do you think, the MP20s in the blade version are harder to hit than the MP60s? I do not like to have a blent set. Maybe it's old school, and have to take a closer look at the MMX, but I do not like chunky looking irons even though, I would probably score better with them.

    • @SASGolf
      @SASGolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ThereIsProbablyNoGod to be honest go and try them mate as most places will let you hit it for free. hard for me to say with out seeing your numbers. The Mizuno blades over the years have progressively got more forgiving. But at the end of the day you are still hitting a blade and will get punished if not flushed!

    Why don’t brands send out pw and 4/5 irons when fitting clubs I just don’t get it, for better players they would like to see the pw to see whether they want to use a 46/48 degree specialised or the standard pw from the set, then there’s the 4 iron to see whether the hmb is too chunky, or the mmc is too small and whether a hybrid is necessary, the gapping at the bottom end of the bag is crucial because if you have a pw that’s 44 degrees and a gap wedge that is 52 there’s going to be a 20-25 yard gap, hitting a half wedge to a front pin tucked behind a bunker is going to be even harder to get close to. Example 43 degree pw in ap3 and then a vokey 52 degree some people don’t realise this, they just see they’re getting 10 yards extra with a six iron

      Blockage is that the fitting cart would be too expensive and large for any retailer or manufacturer, The shafts in the fitting cart are specific to the 7 iron. For every different loft head, you'd need another complete set of shafts. One of the reasons the fitting carts have worked so well for the Golf Pro - reduces the amount of stock they need to carry, There is an answer - we just haven't got there just yet.

    9:16 How is that a "massive downside of these irons"? Just having the 7 irons in a fitting cart doesn't tarnish the quality of the irons at all. It's the same with all mfgs. The only company I know that distributed more than just the 7 iron is PING who provided a 4, 7, w in the Blueprint.
