What I’ve learned.
To be French you gotta
smell like cigarettes, have duck liver on hand, and look suicidal.
Be an alcoholic
2/3 damn
Be extra racist to everyone so it cancels out
Say Madam and sir
Dont wear an keep autism weird tie dye shirt
@@jettnash5217ive got some duck liver for you
Honestly that would trick most people yeah
How in the world will Lud convince anyone he's french with that kind of fit
I cracked when I saw the tie dye shirt.
Isn't he like a quarter French lmao
Bro went American tie dyed and tried to be French
Thats exactly it. He’s dressing just like a french guy, awful
@@cheapskate102minumum 50% his mom is french, dont know nothing about his dad
Holy shit, bro really went to family reunion with the weirdest shirt that he has ever worn in his life.
I was looking for this comment what the fuck was that shit 😭😭
Of all the casual shirt he can wear he chose this one instead lmfao
No way that beats his old “I’m here for the bukkake” shirt
@@AlliSinnedDidn’t he also have one that said some shit like “cum in me” on it 😭
The funny thing is, that Keep Austin Weird tie dye shirt is actually a pretty “touristy” shirt. It’s sold in most shops in Austin, Texas
I often forget that Ludwig has a degree in journalism and it shows with his storytelling
E
"The Most Racist Person I Ever Met" "I just got back from France" well that explains a lot
Being from France and experience both American and French communities, i can definitely say Americans are definitely more racist man
@@Odah_yeah I am french too, I don't think we're racist: we're just annoying towards everyone 😂
@@klaouchie nope. very racist. women can't even wear hijabs...
@@Odah_definitely depends on the area. Where in America were you?
@@klaouchieAmericans are really racist towards a few races while the French are moderately racist towards everyone who's not French, so i guess the math works out to the French being, on average, exactly as racist as Americans
Very nice of Ludwig's aunt to replace Chat while he was gone 😌
That comment made me laugh so hard (in a French accent)
Substitute teacher type shii💀
I couldn't stop laughing at the chat asking what a kilometer was, particularly the "Isn't a kilometer that unit used for measuring water?"
No way that’s so funny
😭😭 Do u have a timestamp?
@@gyd1714 5:00
Best part about that, liter is the only unit that we don't generally use kilo with.
A Kiloliter would be around 250 gallons, for Americans. Not exactly useful in most real life applications...
It is the volume of a cubic meter tho, so that's probably useful in industrial settings.
@@Thatguy223-vc4wb thank you
As a European I can confirm that crashing a car and driving overall like you're drunk is the most French thing one can do, it was probably that, scratching the car made you French.
Ludwig talking about the right number of "bises" is so funny to me, because he makes it sound like we know how many we have to do, but we don't either. WE NEVER DO.
Frérot pourquoi t'es là ? 😭😭
I always say the number when we bise lol. I approach and say trois bise? And they assure me usually
the old people choose
fuukano le goat, je savais pas que tu regardais ludwig mdr, basez
This is definitely not just a French thing and the level of anxiety I have when I have to greet someone who does it is literally enough to send me into panic mode.
This was like better than 90% of comedians who do a set. You didn’t overdramatize anything, a lot of funny moments, but the final “punchline” was perfect.
Seriously, I wouldn’t be surprised if we heard Amy Schumer telling this exact story in a few months
She doesn't tell those kinds of jokes.
@@greenoftreeblackofblue6625 … it was a knock at her being a joke thief
Brrooo, no way you actually called it
@@baothesmoothiecup4723 ?? You’re kidding…?
Ludwig is actually amazing at story telling, I didn't realize the video was over 20 minutes long
Ikr? Actually blown away. This was like a story my grandpa would tell or something. The pacing and the payoff was just perfect. I’m actually so impressed and I wanna know his secret sauce lmao
Right? I was thinking the same thing. It's really quite impressive.
The fact that Ludwig got confused with a French person was definitely smelling like cigarettes + looking depressed
As a French American, this video is too relatable. I exclusively speak to my parents in French, and have a basically perfect accent, but I still get told I speak as well as a 3 year old lol
Having your grammar corrected by your 10 year old cousin is too real lol
let's be honest though, ain't no way that TSA lady thought he was french with that accent
Yeah when he said his goal was to mistaken as French I thought "well you better not speak then"
@@richarddiani5856nah she 100% did
@@akpokemon savage 😂
I completely agree with what Lud said about the French TSA. They were going nuts on me for trying to fly with a film camera and kept putting it though the X-ray until my wedding photos were practically gone when I got them developed.
oh.
@@TD101n-xs3ld yeah dude, they were giggling while they did it do knowing I was frustrated. They even held up the line for 10 minutes leaving it in there. Worst TSA experience ever-
Ludwig is an amazing story teller
yeah i was entertained throughout the whole thing even with my tiny attention span
fluent in yapanese
He set up the fact he wanted to be recognised as a french well, and it led perfectly to the ending.
Good work Mr.L
Broo I was thinking the exact same thing and went down to comment
yup
17:06 this is such a small random tidbit overall but I'm 100% it means so much to some people from less "happy" families and my respect for Lud just keeps growing, the fact he randomly caught himself and actively thought about that just speaks volumes of his character.
Absolutely agreed! These little Things have a lot of value for me and probably a lot of others.
Wait until he meets me
I'm right there with ya
oh lawd
ohhhh nahhhh 💀
Man I'm above racism I even hate my own race
Hell I even hate every race and know every stereotype about em
Me as a German person I got mistaken as a Frenchman. It was easy we just smoked a lot of pot in a parc until the police came around and didn’t believe us not speaking French.
It's because you also look depressed and maybe that day you were wearing proper shoes
Ludwig: **Wearing baggy tie-dye "Keep Austin Weird" shirt**
"Why don't people think I'm French??! 😩"
E
French here, same thing with me and English.
Usually I can pass as a native when I say hello, and then my accent gets noticed in the second sentence lmao.
actually just an amazing story
the ending was such an amazing punchline
i think this is the best story he's told yet
It is a comedy movie moment like the meh movie "Old Dads"
As an American living in France I love hearing when Ludwig talks about his French part of his life
I'm half Colombian and when I see my full Colombian side of my family, about half of them greet me with cheek air kisses; which can vary in amounts of one or two air kisses, and the other half of greetings were single cheek kisses with mouth, or half of a mouth planted directly on the cheek. So it's like a game of Rock Papper Scissors. I just opt for one half-liped kiss, and only one aunt ever blushed and seemed surprised.
My Ecuadorian friend once told me about the difficulties of letting the girl you like know you like them. It's normal in the parts of Ecuador my friend is from, to greet your friends with a kiss directely on the cheek. So apparently you have to kiss a good distance closer to their mouth but not too close, because that's where they've established the line I suppose. As for my friend, he got the girl.
Who asked? Aye Gottem!🤣💯
@@negativenancy3738 Did you forget to switch alt accounts?
schizo don't worry bout it@@wooshbait
I'm straight up American but work with Latin coworkers from Cuba, Peru, Venezuela out of Miami. So when I head down there for company stuff they do the kiss on the cheek. Which is not a common thing for me being American so I'm just like. Ohh that's nice. lol
@@wooshbait Pretty sure they just did that preemptively
Probably one of my favourite kind of Ludwig vids. He just exists. Talks about it. And we enjoy.
glad you recovered from going to france, mustve been really scary. were all here if you need to talk
I ain’t
@@techfan1017 yes you are
Surely getting mistaken as French by a probably racist French person is an even more difficult achievement?
Ludwig's aunt just farming LULWs the entire trip
These story videos are my favorite type of content from Ludwig. He is just so good at story telling.
Ludwig met himself
TRUE!!!, sorry lud
No ludwig met mogul mail that guy is a psycho
Ludwig describing himself as depressed and smelling like cigarettes makes me think he's gonna get mistaken as a Frenchman
You just gotta dress like a Frenchman to be mistaken as a Frenchman.
And wear au de cigarettes cologne. 😅
@VixeyTeh * l'eau de cigarette
Or maybe l'eau de la cigarette
Or maybe eaux des cigarettes
Honestly Idk, it's french
@@plainText384 "Eau de cigarette" works the best
Idk what it is, but Ludwig telling me about his struggles to be recognized as a french person is the most entertaining thing i have seen this week
Speed Running being mistaken for a French person while wearing a Keep Austin Weird shirt 100% Glitchless no diff

As someone who’s in the process of learning German, I ALWAYS mess up the articles. Seriously one of the hardest parts of learning a language.
Example: “pizza” is feminine (die Pizza), “salad” is masculine (der Salat), and “sandwich” is gender neutral (das Sandwich). I love the German language but I will never understand how they’re able to keep track of these things…
Your aunt would be the #1 chatter
i nearly melted into my floor when Lud went in for the 3rd kiss with the apple save
Ngl I thought Ludwig accidentally posted this video in the main channel instead of mogul mail simply cuz of the title
so basically 23min of Ludwig being bullied by his aunt
To be honest, unless you stay mostly in the same area, french people also don't know how many kisses you need to make hahaha i've had your situation a countless number of times
Always go for two in the first place
Nice story! As a Moroccan French Canadian when I visited France I was expecting the worst from the airport security, to my surprise everything went as smoothly as could be, only when I existed the airport and had my guard down got smacked with the rudest bus driver I've ever seen. The guy was yelling and getting pissed at passengers for having Euro Bills and not coins.
Glad to see he finally met Schlatt
Bro your aunt absolutely owned you that’s so French of her
"everyday I was in France I was running" Lud was so racist he was on the run 24/7
Got mistaken as a French person by probably the most French woman. I see this as a win
The way Ludwig tells these stories! I could listen to stories all day
I swear in the Asian countries I’ve been to, just saying hi in their language gets you compliments and the French are the complete opposite
I knew the punchline was comming and still am not dissapointed you sir are a storyteller
Really happy to hear that you had a good time with your family, especially that you plan on doing this again, it made me happy. I miss my family rn
So happy to see you survived France and are back safe 🙏🏻
As a high school student taking French for a while now & is currently on summer vacation, hearing you say the words "Articles" made me fall to my knees in agony remembering learning the lesson about them. I now must study my French, à bientôt.
My great grandma was born in 1928 and she died 2021 even after getting covid in 2020. So much of her was passed to me and I now do things people haven't done since the 1930s and people think I'm weird
Your aunt perfectly embodies everything that chat is when they roast you for everything 😂
holy shit man the build up to the joke at the end of this was so great
My grandma is 90 in january and she still acts and moves like she's 70 but talks like she's 100 and waiting for death. i could never imagine living that long, nor do i really want to
Ludwig is a damn god-tier storyteller. I wouldn’t watch a video like this unless it was from one of two people- Ludwig and probably Casey Neistat.
Good story time!
Don’t forget to thank the editor as well
Lud's mistake was assuming that the wine they were having at 1 pm was their first drink of the day. I know in Italy a lot of people would have had at least one Aperol spritz before noon.
For the next week, if I ever chuckle randomly to myself it's because I'm thinking about Ludwig going for a kiss, realizing no one is there, then pretending to take a bite out of an apple
Ludwig sharing his family stories and joking with the French car rental staff is just wholesome
as a french person, this video is so funny and i know for a fact it all happened bc ive seen things like this happen😭 its so easy to spot americans
as someone who is also French American, I'm DEAD ☠☠☠ listening to this.
- the french fam INSTANTLY judging your look is so real
- 2 kisses for Paris, 3 for the south of France, 1 to be quick, & the only time my fam does 4 is to be silly or make fun of the Americans
- i have an aunt who will have a glass of wine with every meal if there's a guest, including breakfast
- you order a coffee, cappuccino, or tea at the end of the lunch with your dessert (after the cheese but before the sweets)
- when they correct your French that's a complement. if your French is bad enough they'll just start speaking English. also younger cousins always like to bully the older cousins
- YOU DID NOT GO INTO ALL OF THOSE SHOPS WITHOUT SAYING "BONJOUR MONSIEUR/MADAM" ☠☠☠ bruhhhhh that's the first thing you learn before you even order for yourself
- TSA is always the worst no matter what country you're in
- it's not a proper trip to France without bringing foie gras & nogat back (i'd also recommend bringing back marmalade if you find something good)
LMAOOO. Lud aunt cooked him the whole trip and i love her for it.
2:51 someone in the chat said “just had a girl cheat on me it was fun 2nd time too” that’s wild bro💀
Just had a very similar experience with Spanish at my family reunion in Puerto Rico after years of studying on my own. Glad to know I'm not alone in this 😁
I too am an American in a family of french people and nobody will humble you more than a french kid. I was babysitting a 4 year old in Quebec and I’m trying to play hide and seek with him but my french is probably worse than Ludwig’s because I was 12 at the time. I asked him if he wanted to play hide and seek (in french ofc) and he turns to his mom and says “mama, why does she talk like that?” Still think of that when I try to speak french fluently 💀
Bro is getting rolled by his aunt OMEGALUL
This story was great and that ending was just perfection
I heard about you before and finally decided to see what’s up
Definitely earned my sub
As a French/Acadian descendant Canadian who did their whole K-12 schooling in French, you did way better than I think I would have. 😂
unironically one of the best stories he's told, it was so good from beginning to end 😂
This whole video felt like a 20 minute setup for that punchline. Great story telling
I feel Lud in this cause wanting to be seen as a local in a place that you are clearly foreign in, is just a top notch feeling
that is such a perfect ending for a story lmao
Fun fact: in 1933 the alcohol prohibition law ended in the US, that is how old being 90 is.
I love that he mentioned BMW M and all the car people came out of nowhere in chat.
He rented the car from Côte d’Azur airport. I’ve received the same car. It’s not a real M. it’s diesel and it’s trash
Ludwig is such a good story teller
"Painfully unfrech" is probably the best compliment I would ever want to get from a Frenchman.
Bro came back from France and really be rockin that Eiffel Tower haircut
I’m French but I’ve lived in Australia long enough that when I speak French they notice I have an accent. Haven’t been back to France since COVID and would love to so I can see my dad and his family
I need Aiden confirmation that you made the people at the desk laugh in French cause it no way 😂
Couldn't be higher of a compliment than being mistaken for a Frenchmen from a _french_ racist.
Lud calling social norms "tech" made me crack up. Must be the new meta.
this was the greatest possible buildup to "finally a french person" lmfao
Lud if you tried to order a cappuccino at 1pm in Italy the mafia would’ve taken you out back
5:59 "Your mustache, it is not even...Why do you have it like that?" One of us, one of us! I mean, if you don't listen to us then maybe your aunt can be more persuasive 🤷 Also, congrats on being mistaken as a French person (the "Bonjour madame" tech really did the trick)!
Damn as a french person myself, I didn't know we always says "Bonjour monsieur/madame" but we do always says it the more I think about it haha.
Good story and your next goal should be to get mistaken for a French from France in Québec. Which should be the next step!
Ordering a Cappuccino as a drink for lunch is like ordering a pudding for the main meal for lunch.
Foie Gras is illegal in many places for a good reason, no need to eat that.
This was basically an ender bit from a stand up special 10/10
The ending of this story is actually hilarious
So aint no one notice the one guy saying “We learned this in middle school french” while ludwig is pouring his heart out in a explanation 😭
aw ludwig had a fan meetup!
ludwig really is a master storyteller. every part of the already fun to listen to story came back to inform the final punch line of this tsa agent. this is truly the perfect job for him
You're way too entertaining for just talkin by yourself, amazing content creator.
chatter at 23:08 who said "this is like getting a 10 from Armand White" I see you and I respect you
Imagine unironically flexing that someone mistake you for a FRENCH person. I'd be very insulted.
9:50 chat Evans i feel you but lug got me feelin like i should go for a run rn
Btw the kiss greeting is done all over the world. I'm latino and have been doing it all my life. Ik some other friends from other central and southern America countries that also greet their family that way
Same here! I'm Brazilian and that's how we greet people too. Although it's most common to only give one or two kisses.
@@raybows Yeah that seems to be the norm across most countries. I've never given more than two. I've only ever received three or more from my grandparents.
I'm half puerto rican and dominican and an introvert. I don't like doing that lol. But then my family thinks I'm mean if I don't kiss them like hellllloooo, there's too many of y'all. It's tiring dude lol
my favourite part of the video was actually seeing all the car bros popping up the moment he says M Series and trying to figure out which one it was specifically
Basically Ludwig discovers old conservative french people. They can say some pretty outta pocket shit
Glad you finally got around to making my video
It's crazy that Ludwig finally met up with MAGA Mail ❤
