the biggest difference between these apps is that tiktok keeps you in every community that you show interest in, youtube shorts doesn't care what you like at all, and instagram is like the middle ground, except there's actually just 0 moderation

i mean.. not true. youtube shorts definitely has its algorithm. i started watching some art stuff and now i have a lot of fun art shorts
@@bambii-_ it took me pretty much a year at this point to keep me on cooking shorts (not the flashy ones like nick divigiovanni and others alike, not my thing) and to this day it still gives me terribly made ai videos, ai voiceovers, freebooted videos, clips of shows i've never interacted with, and so much more. half of the shorts i get shown are things im not interested in at all and have never interacted with in the past either. tiktok is just so much better in that regard, it only shows me 1 irrelevant video out of 10 if not out of 20, while for youtube i have to insta scroll between every video i find interesting.
i think youtube has been stepping up their game though, it used to be so much worse, but maybe it finally gave in that i actually like to watch people cook! who knows.

I mean YT Shorts are really only good if you're watching the shorts from people you already watch or you already have the algorithm tuned to your tastes. I reckon TikTok is kind of the same, but also even better for bumping into random content outside of your comfort zone.
Yeah, my YT shorts are mostly music, cooking, cosplayers being dorks and miniatures painting tutorials. No cursed content.

For me tiktok is filled with funny videos and shorts is filled with creative content (cooking, photography etc). Reels is just death and thirst traps

I disagree, TH-cam recommends me different content WAY more than tik tok, one of the main reasons I got off TikTok is because it just kept feeding me the exact same three things and it got super repetitive.

I feel like TH-cam Shorts is only good when you already have an established algorithm based on content you already watch, whereas TikTok by far has the best algorithm for hooking new people in. Reels is just scary

As a cronic TH-cam Shorts user, I say with high certainty that liking and disliking videos do not matter. Selecting "Do not recommend channel" or "Not Interested" does not matter, they will still give you videos from that creator. They do not keep track of this. They only keep track of what you skip, what you watch all the way through and how many times you've rewatched something.
I am shocked at the fact there was no racism on IG reels. That was probably the literal best session of all time there

Reels have the best AND the worst videos.
TH-cam is the most generic to some degree but was relatively consistent.
TikTok had some great ones, but also had some VERY controversial rabbit holes.

I think TikTok only won due to both TH-cam and reels relying on giving you content based on what you do on the non reel stuff. Yt shorts relies on videos you’ve watched and insta on posts you liked.
