Fishing With The KUYING TETON Ultralight Rod!

  • Shout out to a couple of fishing buddies for sending me this rod. Bob in Virginia & John in California are both great anglers and even better people and they got me set up with this Kuying Teton 6'4 Ultralight Rod. I probably would have never fished with one, so those two going out of their way to get me set up, is very appreciated. This is honestly a really cool ultralight - it has been doing very well for Crappie fishing over the past month, but it has also done well with bigger Bluegill and even the occasional Bass (as you will see in this video).
    Some of the things I like best about this rod are:
    The way the rod blank loads up is great for casting but it isn't whippy so it is a very comfortable, fast action rod to use. Makes for a versatile setup!
    The 6'4 length is unique and it actually balances pretty well. I enjoy that in-between rod length a lot.
    This rod is excellent for shooting docks from the kayak. That has been my favorite part.
    Some of the things that I would change:
    It doesn't have a hook keeper for some reason. They should have added that in my opinion.
    I have had the rod come apart on casts twice. Not sure if that is common or if it was just random, but it is always a bummer when multi-piece rods come apart too easily.
    Overall, I will be hanging onto this stick for a while. It is definitely a really cool option! That being said, I have my own shopping preferences, and prefer to stick with brands I know and trust a bit more for future purchases.

    All fish caught in today's video came on a Mule Minnow 2.2 in the Cowpoke color on a 1/32oz Green Pumpkin Mule Jig. It seemed that all species were zeroed in on small baitfish. The Bluegill were roaming the weedbeds and drop-offs. The Bass seemed to be focused on docks and appeared to be fry-guarders. The Crappie were on a weedbed adjacent to where they spawned earlier this year. Fun trip overall :)

      They are semi-similar. Both can do the same things well but they just have a different feel. This one has a more fast feeling too it whereas the TFO is a bit softer. I like them both for their own reasons.

    Sensitivity wise which rods been the most sensitive? I’m looking at a TFO but was wondering if there’s anything better in regards to sensitivity, specifically the Dobyns sierra

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Dobyns Sierra is definitely more sensitive. Probably my favorite ultralight rod, however the big downside is that fishing it with braid is not a great idea due to the really narrow rod tip (breaking hazard). The TFO is standard sensitivity. Nothing great, but good enough.
